I loved the inside decor and the vibe. Nice size bar with televisions which you can sit at the inside or outside bar. We sat outside since it was out, patio was spacious and seat cushions were comfy. I used to rave about the ceviche at Azul in Summerville--the large, perfectly cooked shrimp gave each bite a satisfying texture and made the dish stand out. On my recent visit, however, the shrimp was finely chopped. While this made the plate seem fuller, it stripped away the substance and distinct texture that once defined it. The flavors are still there, but the dish now feels more like a blended seafood mixture than a ceviche with character. It's a disappointing shift for what was once my go-to recommendation. I hope Azul returns to using larger shrimp pieces, restoring the quality that made it memorable. read more

Perfectly fine, average Mexican restaurant with ok prices and nice service. I had the street tacos which were honestly super bland and fairly tasteless which was a disappointment. My son had a quesadilla and fries, fries weren't great and a basic quesadilla is hard to mess up. My daughter had enchiladas which she liked and beans and rice which looked like typical Mexican restaurant stuff. Nothing really blew me away here, but the price was decent and my server Vanessa was super friendly and fast, both of which combine to raise it up a star. I suspect I have been spoiled by living in North Charleston which has great Mexican food all over the place, and the last couple of Mexican places I have been to in Summerville aren't as good. We went to Azul Summerville for Cinco de Mayo advertised specials. The ad indicated the Summerville location had a Margarita spec and street tacos 3/$5. Server adv no spec on food. We showed the ad and we were told not at this location. We ended up with a Pepe's Burrito which was very good and a $7 Margarita. Server was attentive but today's specials not available. read more

I always tell people one of the only restaurants that never disappoint are Mexican restaurants, but alas, there's a first time for everything. I ordered this through Grub Hub last night, and even the look, let alone taste/textures/etc, were disappointing. I'm assuming this place makes the bulk of it's money from the full bar, because if this is what they're serving in restaurant I can't imagine how they do a lot of business. I don't even review often but couldn't leave this unsaid. I'll start with the desserts. The flan had a very curdled texture opposed to it's typical smoothness. Taste was mid. The sopapillas. $6 for WHAT? They should be like $2 max. First of all, so small. Secondly, the description versus what I got. No whip or honey, just a small dab of out the bottle chocolate syrup; didn't even taste like good chocolate syrup lol. Sorry, but I definitely could have done better making them myself at home. These just straight up made me mad What a waste of money. The taco...picture says it all... have you ever seen a taco literally "look" sad... shell wasn't very fresh, though I ordered it delivered the shell itself was a bit off. Also, I do not live far from there, just wasn't feeling well and decided to get delivery for my mom and I. The burrito had an add cheese option, there was a pinch of shredded cheese. Even the street corn, which I didn't picture, tasted a little off. Like something soured, not like the natural sour of a lime. How do you mess up street corn? With everything going on, I don't know if their crew has been affected and they've got some gringos in the kitchen cooking. So I debated on even posting a review at all. I could give 0 stars, I would. We went to Azul tonight and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The service was terrible -- our server only came to take our order and to drop off the check. The manager ended up bringing our drinks because the server never came back. The food was just as bad. I ordered the steak burritos, and the steak was so tough it was nearly impossible to chew. The queso was thick and clumpy, nothing like normal queso, and the chips were stale. Not even five minutes after leaving, I became extremely sick and had to pull over because the food made me throw up. Absolutely awful experience from start to finish. I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This wasn't my first time ordering here but, I'm pretty sure it's my last. The Grubhub app failed so I got charged with no food. I ordered again from the restaurant. No manager was there and I think it mostly showed in the food. We usually always get the Texacano chicken, steak, and shrimp. The steak was unusually chewy and the left the tails on half the shrimp. This might be okay for shrimp cocktail but, not on fajitas. The rice and beans were definitely off. Please whoever owns this place have some management always on hand and stand behind quality control. This is disappointing and disgusting! I ordered a dish whos description said chicken with peppers and onions WRAPPED in a corn tortilla. It came out with shredded chicken with soggy chips that you get with chips an salsa and they even forgot the onions and peppers. I said this is not what i ordered and they sad it was but the description wasn't quite correct. No apology and no offer to give me my money back. I will never go pack to there again. I ordered take out from this location, I ordered a few individual items like the shrimp taco and beef quesadilla. The shrimp taco had a nice flavor, crunchy slaw, grilled shrimp and a creamy sauce that had a subtle hint of spice to it. The beef quesadilla was also good, full of beef and shredded cheese. The order was nice and hot when I picked it up and came with a side of chips and salsa. There is indoor and outdoor seating a available. My only complaint was the menu was not completely accurate, certain items are listed as one price but when they brought the bill it was a slightly different price. While it might only be a dollar here or there that can add up, and it's not appropriate to list one price in the menu and charge differently. Hopefully this will be corrected, after all they just opened. Overall I thought the food was pretty good. read more

We relocated to the area from the West Coast. We've been pleasantly surprised with this location. The quality of food is consistent, tasty, and great portions. Micheladas are great! We came to Azul Mexicano for lunch around 1 pm on a Thursday. We had a group of nine and I thought the server did a fantastic job of keeping the drinks and complimentary chips and salsa full. I ordered three chicken street tacos. They come with the usual onions and cilantro with a lime on the side. It was very tasty and everything was cooked to perfection. My husband got the enchiladas verde and enjoyed it. My son got some burritos slathered in queso and wolfed it down. My youngest wanted guacamole and chips and she ate all of their dip size bowl. They also sell it as a side. The decor is super cute inside and the tile art in the bathroom was neat. The manager stopped by the table a couple times to check on us which was nice. He was very personable. Great first experience here and look forward to coming back to try more of their extensive menu. read more

Ate there last night, got the enchiladas. Their salsa tastes more like spaghetti sauce, so don't know what's going on there. Chips taste like they are out of a bag from Costco. The food was bland and cold. The enchiladas didn't even taste cooked all the way. Also the floors all over the restaurant are sticky everywhere you step. Guess they are spilling beers all over the floor or something. That was a little gross. Won't be going back. Really people, there's better places to go read more

This place has been on my list of places to go for a while. I've heard a lot of good things about this place. Me and a friend only went for drinks. The two drinks that we ordered were delicious. The blue Bonita is very good! You can taste the tequila, but it's not overpowering. We paired that with thier chips and salsa, my friend wanted queso for her chips. We sat at the bar facing out. It was a nice day out, so it worked out perfectly. It's really cute inside with the little blue decor all over the walls. The bar tender was pretty cool. I'm a lightweight, so I only had one. But that was enough for me! He was pleasant and took our orders right away. I'll have to come back to try their food and other drinks on the menu. First time here and we were deciding on whether or not we wanted to go here or to Kairos next door. I wish we would have went to Kairos. The atmosphere is nice. The only thing that was good about the food was the Salsa and chips and the enchilada, rice and beans were ok. Came here because Wife and Daughter wanted to see why they were always busy. The ambiance was a typical Mexican flair and not bland. They had a lot of blue ceramic agave plants all over the walls and it was different, but I doubt if they take the time to dust them. So, our waiter was an ass, we had sat down and we're waiting on two other folks that were running late and when we ordered our drinks he was real pissy. I ordered water with a LIME, I don't like lemon seeds. He repeated -two waters, and I said again- with Lime. He looked and said I got it. He brought two waters with lemons and I asked about the limes and he rolled his eyes and went and got limes. He eventually took our order and although the other dishes didn't has options, mine had either black beans or refried beans. I ordered the Chimichanga and he moved into the next person and I had to interrupt and state the meat and that I wanted black beans. Again he rolled his eyes and wrote it down. The food was decent but the guacamole and cheese dip was very expensive for what you didn't get. A small dish for almost $7.00 for the guacamole. The other dishes where ok but the beef in the chimichangas were overly green and the chicken was very dry. We had to constantly flag our waiter down to get drink refills and as he refilled my water glass I asked for another lime and he brought several large slices of limes and I was impressed. Until the bill came in. He changed $0.75 for the sliced limes and it was not acceptable. If you want to charge me for the limes then tell me up front or suck it up. I don't like the taste of tap water and I don't like paying over $3.00 for a drink I need to settle for. I don't like sweet tea and many places don't carry come or Pepsi zero and I'm always chaseing the wait staff to get refills. And if you ask to bring two drinks you get charged for two. So the line has no seeds and it cuts down on the chemical taste of tap water. Regardless of the waiter and his horrible service, I do thank the restaurant for providing me a military discount but we will not return. I'm not paying to be treated disrespectfully and top someone for crappy service. read more

Azul is a wonderful Mexican restaurant located in Summerville, SC. Their hospitality was fantastic and their food matched the service. We got their fried calamari to share and the freshness along with the taste of the sea was awesome. If you don't share this it could be a meal itself. My husband got the steak and shrimp with grilled mushrooms and onions. His sides were steamed veggies and Mexican potatoes. They complimented the dish so well and made it savory with every bite. I enjoyed their Azul bowl with chicken. There was the perfect ratio of ingredients in every bite and I love how juicy the chicken was. For refreshment I ordered a mango margarita and my husband tried a Mezcal. Be careful because the margarita is quite large. The mezcal was perfectly balanced on flavor and smokiness. We loved relishing in this experience in their outdoor eating area. Can't wait to go back! read more

My dad and I use to go a lot and as the time went by the service got worse and worse. The amount of times my dad had to get up and had to find a waiter bc we were already waiting for 10-20 min to get the check. At first the people were pretty nice but it's weird bc my dad tips them well and they always give us a nasty look. We are always nice and respectful plus tip 20-25% tips, and we always make the table not a mess before we leave.There's a handful of times the chips were old, and the hard taco shell were old and stale. I'm sad bc I've been to a different locations farther, even when this restaurant was sticky fingers, it was the same thing with the over location. The inside and outside is nice. They WERE a good option in the beginning but coming from someone who eats at a lot of different Mexican restaurants this one isn't my first choice. read more

My first time at this gem, and it was a nice spot. The servers were welcoming soon as you walk in and the music and look has a nice vibe. Sat at the bar and I loved the bar set up with the open window to the outside tables. That's going to be real popular once it warms up. The margarita was good and we didn't have much to eat. As a Mexican. This place is bomb asf. I recently visited this restaurant with my wife while in town for a graduation. I'm from Dallas and can guarantee this restaurant would take over any restaurant over there. Service was excellent, food was delicious. Couldn't finish my plate so you know I took it to go. New location in Summerville for Azul. They remodeled the old Sticky Fingers. There is a large outside eating area. Inside is a bar (happy hour 5-7) and booth and table seating. They decorated with colorful Ojo de Dios. They served chips and salsa...good flavor and not too hot. I'm a light eater so I just got a cheese enchilada and a spinach one. Service was quick. Food was hot and flavorful...just enough spice. Lots of good things on the menu. Next time I'll try some other items. read more

For traditional Mexican food I usually stick to the usual suspects around me such as La Hacienda or Los Reyes but decided to give Azul a try. This location is not as big as those other restaurants but still very well decorated and has just enough space to enjoy your food. With that said, I walked out saying to my wife "This place is better!" I got the chilaquiles with green sauce and steak and it was the best I've had thus far. Reminded me of the same kind I first had when we visited Cabo several years back. My wife's fajitas and shrimp were very good as well. Service was great and fast too.
