I've bookmarked this spot for awhile now and my fiancé and I had a chance to visit for some dinner. The service is quick, the ladies were polite and hospitable. They have a take-out menu or option to dine-in. As soon as we sat down, they brought homemade chips and salsa which I enjoyed but not too much to fill up before the meal. For drinks they are serve margaritas, beers, teas..I tried the agua fresca hibiscus and my fiancé tried the horchata, both delicious! The menu is simple but packs lots of flavors and proteins. I constantly seek out elote so you know I had to order theirs! I like that they roasted the corn, provided a more robust flavor and the cheese topping I could dip anything with that..was about to lick the plate but stopped myself haha my fiancé got 3 variations of tacos, the flavors were good. They brought out some bottles salsa verde and another kind of hot sauce salsa. I liked their options for tamales, I got mole chicken and another kind of chicken..they're more filling than they look so left with our belly's full and spirits lifted. I ordered from here 2 days in a row because I was dreaming of the chicken mole tamale after trying it the first night. The sauce was so rich, so deeply flavorful, I had to order more the next day. This is my new food obsession. The tacos were good, with carne asada, pastor and cabeza being the standouts. The lengua was a bit tough and gamey. The elote was delectable, and I was thrilled that the serving was 2 cobs, so I could share. The rice was a little dry and mealy both days, but the beans were yummy. The nachos are highly recommended for a reason, and a perfect appetizer! The stuffed poblano is tender and smothered in cheese sauce. The Jamaica agua fresca is new to me. Sweet but mild in flavor I couldn't identify. Maybe hibiscus? I want more of this mole, so we will definitely be ordering again! read more

Now this is mexican food! Been wanting to try this place since we spotted it after trying Alex's Restaurant (also delicious). Came here on a Friday night very hungry. You seat yourself upon entering. Super friendly service, was greated and they took our order very fast. It's nicer then I thought it was inside, cute tables with light decor. Just enough to not be too flashy I ordered 3 carne asada tacos with onions , cheese and avocado. My fiance got the beef torta as well as a shrimp taco and beef taco. We also ordered the queso, btw if you are just there with 2 people you may think you need the large but you really don't. Small is enough lol. Food came shortly after we ordered. The carne asada tacos were so delicious, flavorful and juicy. The avocado was a perfect add on. I lived in Texas for a few years so I know my mexican food. And this place is legit! My fiance loved his torta and tacos also. He was pretty full with everything. Two tacos were enough for me since we filled up on the chips before (classic mistake). Best kept secret in Goose Creek. Casual spot serving Authentic Mexican staples such as tacos, tortas, burritos, and tamales. Simply say the food is amazing and full of flavor. They serve homemade tortillas or flour tortillas. They serve large portions at a fair price. Friendly service makes you feel welcome. Sitting is limited but worth the trip. Their Churros are the best that I have ever tasted. Their fajitas are packed full of flavor. Fajitas come with rice and beans and they offer you a choice between homemade or flour tortillas. Be ready to take a doggy bag home with you. I cannot say enough about this small town hidden gem. This is my in-laws favorite place to go when they visit! All of the food is fantastic and affordable, and the service is fast and very nice. They are attentive without bothering you while you're enjoying conversation and your food. There are only a few tables inside, but a lot of people get takeout here. From CA so we came here cus of the reviews. Food was actually not flavorful at all except the "steak" marination on the taco. But dinged it down bc steak was not steak but just ground beef. Birria was not good at all, zero flavor and super oily. I wouldn't pay $4.25 for 1 Birria taco that's not even tasty. The consume was extra oily, and had no flavor. Maybe we came on an off day? We stopped in here when we were in the area and I had been wanting to try it out. We have been in Charleston for almost 2 years and are still missing real good Mexican (we moved from Colorado). Tierra Caliente really hit the spot. Pretty large menu, as many Mexican restaurants do, but no chimichangas, FYI. That's ok, plenty of tacos, burritos, fajitas, etc. I had one of the enchiladas dishes with the red sauce, that was pretty spicy (yum!). My husband had tacos that were good as well. Good chips and salsa, which, IMHO, is an important part of any Mexican. We didn't drink, so I can't tell you about the margaritas unfortunately (but will update when I do as that is also an important part of any Mexican restaurant). Serious communication difficulties with the server and that's where they lost the point. They should work on getting their employees English lessons to help with that. I don't mind that they are hiring Spanish speakers, they just need to be able to communicate better. read more

What an awesome little find! Looking for a lunch place in Goose Creek after visiting our old stomping grounds before heading to the airport. So glad we stopped in! Wow, what an experience... had a rough day, figured a solid torta and some horchata would make me feel better. Not only did this food make me feel incredible, but it gave me a whole new outlook on life. The little things are what really make it all worth it. The crunchy, yet fluffy and perfectly toasted roll, made for the perfect delivery system for exquisitely seasoned steak and what seemed to be a pleasant surprise of a sort of sausage. The proteins were tastefully complemented with beautifully ripe slices of avocado and tomato. To my surprise I was given a verde salsa that really took flavor-town to a whole different level. Don't even get me started with how perfectly this sandwich went with the sweet, limey, cheesy street corn. Authentic food! Huge menu! My husband is very happy with their selection and often orders food he can't get at other Mexican restaurants. Service is always good, make sure to check out at the counter. They even gave us a sample of their new pineapple tamales! Which turns out is delicious.
