Just straight from the airport from NYC Was very exited cuz I love Mexican latins spots . First of all the food was good but the service . We ordered 3 drinks and 1 fajitas to share . To your managers : 1) If ppl share plates servers should bring sharing plates in advance ( it was not busy at all servers was just goofing arround all time ) I've got my meal was sizzling and I had to ask servers after few mins to bring me plates . I like to get good service when I'm no worrying about stuff 2)at least ask for water pls instruct your servers I did ask twice and ask for the manager while my meal was already half way done eating , unacceptable 3) service was not friendly at all . I didn't like it and I'm not coming back . This is second time for the past year I don't get service at west Ashley . Tip is for good service and you have to earn it . Tipped 10% cuz runners were great . Wish to know server name he didn't introduce himself . P.s at the end I've got my change and my check disappeared, pls tell me why ? Charleston tricks ?

This place is solid. Of course it's not like Mexican food in LA or Arizona but it definitely gave me Southwest Mexican food vibes and I'm here for it! The margaritas are massive and the food comes out quick with big portions so say hello to having leftovers! Plenty of parking which is also a big plus for me. The service was great, the staff let me practice my Spanish so win win all around!

My friends and I love this restaurant. The servers are nice, and there is both outdoor and indoor seating available. The food is always good, and we always get salsa and chips before we order food for free. I love to order the Pina colada without alcohol and it just tastes amazing!

A group of 5 had a delicious lunch after a long day of being tourists. The chips and salsa were on point and the large margarita was a force to be reckoned with. It's huge! Thank goodness two of us were sharing. The mango daiquiri was also huge! The meal was amazing. The 5 enchilada plate can be shared by 2 hungry adults, especially after 2 baskets of chips and salsa and that huge margarita

Tight timeline trying to catch a movie. Knew they'd be fast and they were. Most authentic Mexican food? No, but it gets the job done. The staff is super friendly and fast and this place is budget friendly. Definitely ask for the hotter sauce! I think the taco a la parilla are the best things on the menu! I ordered pollo and carnitas. Everything else seems fairly Americanized.

Food is standard, service not so great. We got our chips, salsa and margarita orders in quick, but our server disappeared for a long time. By the time he came back, we finished our first margarita, but the food did come out fast after we did get our order in. The margaritas were huge and good. The food was standard Mexican, nothing special. It hits the spot when you're hungry. Not sure I'd go back since I do like quicker service. Our server also tossed our menus down when we sat, which left a bad taste in my mouth.

Love Senor Tequila! The staff is so friendly, and they will definitely remember your face once you've come in a couple of times! Frankly, we've found our favorite item on the menu and we rarely deviate from it now. It's the Chile Colorado dish - sliced beef in a red sauce, served with rice and beans, guacamole, and salad accoutrements. They will also give you 3 tortillas so you can make your own tacos, corn or flour. If you like spicy food, ask for their habanero salsa. Sometimes they confuse it for their dark red, smoky salsa since that one is spicy too - but the true habanero one is more orange in color and more on the thin/liquidy side for a salsa, but packs amazing flavor and heat! Recommend sitting in their outside section. They have sun shades for when it's super hot out, but also an actual covered part in case there's rain or bad weather.

Loved the music and decor of Señor Tequila! The margarita was tasty and liked the complimentary chips and salsa. Loads of options to choose from but I'm a big tamale and enchilada girl so chose the combo option number eight. It comes with a side of rice and beans, my favorite. Food came out in a reasonable time. Staff checked in on us often and made sure our water glasses were filled. I don't add much salt to my food so to me it was a tad on the salty side, but still enjoyable.

Very good ambiance ! At night they turn the lights on and it's really cool! Service was quick like most Mexican restaurants, our server was nice ! The fries were super good ! The queso was amazing as well . Would definitely be back !

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

Fortunately we were early enough to get a place to sit before the line formed out the door. The biggest complaint was the service. They appeared to be terribly understaffed for even a regular day. Service was sooooo slow. Hard to get even water refills. The food did arrive hot. It was very typical Mexican style food. I had a chicken macho burrito. The chicken was overcooked and it had a two shrimp in the filling. Fortunately I have no allergies to shellfish and actually like shrimp but his could have been disastrous for someone else. The restaurant was very loud and could also use some updates. In spite of the large crowd, and being grossly overworked, the staff remained helpful and friendly to the best of their ability which I give them kudos for considering the situation. Probably won't come back.

The salsa and chips were ok. Not enough salt on the chips. The salsa was nicely substantial, but very bland. We ordered the traditional margaritas with ice and salted rims. You could taste the tequila, but they used the premix and it was very diluted. The drink tasted like lemon flavored water with liquor. I got the street tacos and she ordered the Azul bowl. Mine had great mixture of well prepared meat, but without the added hot sauce, pretty bland. On singular tacos; they only captured it one shell. Had to eat them with a knife and fork; impossible to pick them up without disintegrating. Most place use two or more shell preventing this from happening. The Azul bowl was a mix of beans, rice, corn, steak, avocado and a drizzle of sour cream. Overall, it too, was very bland. The highlight was the refried beans, but almost cold when they arrived. The cost we thought were high compared to comparable places. This is kind of a run of the mill place, but you can find better, even here on James Island. I can't see returning.
