Good food but terrible service. Our server Renso or Lenso was awful. We ordered our food and he didn't write down any of our order, then when he brought out our food he handed me shrimp enchiladas and said they were beef chimichangas. Side note I didn't order either of those, I ordered crab chimichangas. He tried to argue with me and told me they didn't have crab chimichangas on the menu. Then he said he would go get them because he realized he was wrong. Everyone at the table already finished their food and we still were waiting for mine. Finally I asked when my food would be out because we had been waiting 20+ minutes and he went to the back and brought them out right away. I tried to explain that if he would have just apologized and let me know my food would be out as soon as possible I wouldn't be upset. But there was zero communication. It was just him telling me they didn't have it on the menu then going to let the kitchen know. Then he tried to avoid us until I said something. Also didn't check on the other table members one time. Really bad experience, maybe he was new but communication would have been nice. read more

Great Mexican food in West Ashley! Senor Tequila always has fast service for seating, having your order taken, and serving food! The waiter my friend and I had was super nice as well, he was great at his job and made some nice conversation with us. The food is decently priced, a good portion, and tastes sooo good. They also have a pretty good drink menu too! read more

I ordered the 3 tacos special for lunch and they were pretty good. They were basic, and came with lettuce and cheese but that was fine with me. If I wanted to upgrade, I would add sour cream or guacamole on the side, but for a quick lunch, it hit the spot, and they provided a bag of chips and salsa on the side. The staff literally had my order ready in less than 5 minutes and I appreciated that. The interior appeared neat, it was not overly fancy but looked like a typical fast casual dining establishment with a few tables out front as well. I might go back and grab the taco's for lunch one day in the near future. read more

Just straight from the airport from NYC Was very exited cuz I love Mexican latins spots . First of all the food was good but the service . We ordered 3 drinks and 1 fajitas to share . To your managers : 1) If ppl share plates servers should bring sharing plates in advance ( it was not busy at all servers was just goofing arround all time ) I've got my meal was sizzling and I had to ask servers after few mins to bring me plates . I like to get good service when I'm no worrying about stuff 2)at least ask for water pls instruct your servers I did ask twice and ask for the manager while my meal was already half way done eating , unacceptable 3) service was not friendly at all . I didn't like it and I'm not coming back . This is second time for the past year I don't get service at west Ashley . Tip is for good service and you have to earn it . Tipped 10% cuz runners were great . Wish to know server name he didn't introduce himself . P.s at the end I've got my change and my check disappeared, pls tell me why ? Charleston tricks ? read more

This place is solid. Of course it's not like Mexican food in LA or Arizona but it definitely gave me Southwest Mexican food vibes and I'm here for it! The margaritas are massive and the food comes out quick with big portions so say hello to having leftovers! Plenty of parking which is also a big plus for me. The service was great, the staff let me practice my Spanish so win win all around! read more

"Best Mexican food in Charleston!" I've tried a lot of Mexican spots around Charleston, and Señor Tequila in West Ashley is hands down the best! The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic--everything from the salsa to the main dish tasted amazing. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere had a fun, laid-back vibe that made the whole experience even better. First , I must state the server was great. The food took away his shine. The roast beef had an old beef bloody taste. I spit it out and ate no more, it was disgusting When the bill came, although I only ate a bite the manager refused to take it off the bill stating no one else complained. Well maybe I got a bad piece, it did come in slices but regardless, I ate one bite. I told him I wasn't going to argue I would just write a review, he stated he did not care and was not taking it off the bill. Again the waiter was good, he even brought me some ground meat as requested but it tasted old as well. read more

The family ate here on Wednesday night. Again, the best frozen margaritas. Tasty, flavorful, great quantity, and has the right amount of alcohol alcohol. Street tacos were off the chain. We ate at As's on James Island, the day prior and these two restaurants do not compare. We've been going to Señor tequila for the past three years and is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the area. We talked to the owner for the first time and let them know that it was awesome. Hands-down, you have to come here for the authentic feel and more importantly, for a great meal. read more

A group of 5 had a delicious lunch after a long day of being tourists. The chips and salsa were on point and the large margarita was a force to be reckoned with. It's huge! Tight timeline trying to catch a movie. Knew they'd be fast and they were. Most authentic Mexican food? No, but it gets the job done. The staff is super friendly and fast and this place is budget friendly. Definitely ask for the hotter sauce! I think the taco a la parilla are the best things on the menu! Love the decor and music of Senor Tequila! The food is hot and fresh and amazing! I've been to this location several times and they're always busy. Food is standard, service not so great. We got our chips, salsa and margarita orders in quick, but our server disappeared for a long time. By the time he came back, we finished our first margarita, but the food did come out fast after we did get our order in. The margaritas were huge and good. The food was standard Mexican, nothing special. It hits the spot when you're hungry. Not sure I'd go back since I do like quicker service. Our server also tossed our menus down when we sat, which left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

This is one of my go-to Mexican restaurants. The food is consistently good but never great. The huge margaritas have heavy pours and taste great. The service was on point last night. He greeted us quickly and took our order as soon as we closed our menus. I love the murals and vibe they have. Each table is beautiful, if you go to the back there are murals on the walls, and the lighting is super cute. If you want consistently good Mexican this is a great place to go! read more

Love Senor Tequila! The staff is so friendly, and they will definitely remember your face once you've come in a couple of times! Frankly, we've found our favorite item on the menu and we rarely deviate from it now. It's the Chile Colorado dish - sliced beef in a red sauce, served with rice and beans, guacamole, and salad accoutrements. They will also give you 3 tortillas so you can make your own tacos, corn or flour. If you like spicy food, ask for their habanero salsa. Sometimes they confuse it for their dark red, smoky salsa since that one is spicy too - but the true habanero one is more orange in color and more on the thin/liquidy side for a salsa, but packs amazing flavor and heat! Recommend sitting in their outside section. They have sun shades for when it's super hot out, but also an actual covered part in case there's rain or bad weather. read more

Loved the music and decor of Señor Tequila! The margarita was tasty and liked the complimentary chips and salsa. Loads of options to choose from but I'm a big tamale and enchilada girl so chose the combo option number eight. It comes with a side of rice and beans, my favorite. Food came out in a reasonable time. Staff checked in on us often and made sure our water glasses were filled. I don't add much salt to my food so to me it was a tad on the salty side, but still enjoyable. read more

the food tasted great with even better service! if you come to Charleston you need to come by and try it out!

Went for dinner with my hubby and son, ordered the Texas rice with the shrimp on the side because I can't eat seafood and while mixing my food I found a piece of shrimp and called the guy over to show him and he starts laughing and said oh you put that there, why would I try to kill myself in front of a restaurant full of people and my child and husband. The lady told me oh you still have to pay. I ignored her and everyone else grabbed my kid and walked out and will never return. The staff is fucking rude and does not care ab the customers all they care about is standing around watching tv and talking. I simply asked for shr on the side to give my husband because I can't eat seafood not eat seafood and these damn people try to kill me. The last few times I stopped In they were rude and the food was not all that good. simply I suggest going down the street to los rayos(sure i misspelled that) but they have better customer service and food is good also. read more

Look I'm giving it five stars because for what it is it's great. It's not Halls Chop House but the margaritas are great the service friendly and fast. Amazing how quick your food arrives. I stopped by Senor Tequila with my grandmother. We decided to try the birria tacos with cheese. It comes with rice and beans, consome, and picante salsa. We also ordered the steak taco and a medium peach margarita (only $7.99 during happy hour!). The food was very flavorful, especially the birria meat. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the tortilla was not crisp or hot. The customer service was adequate. If you are ever in Charleston, I would highly recommend the birria tacos and ask for them to crisp the tortilla. The rice portion is small, but we got a large portion of beans and we were greeted with chips and salsa. There is ample parking. read more

A classic West Ashley spot! Growing up in Charleston this was always the place to go for a group meal with friends. Your classic Mexican restaurant with all the basics - something for everyone on the menu for sure. I've been here countless times and always get a combination meal with a burrito, rice, beans, and a wild card fourth option. Sometimes it's a taco, sometimes an enchilada, etc. The food is consistent and I always know exactly how it's going to taste. And I really appreciate that when I come to Senor Tequila. In today's unpredictable world, consistency and routine is something that is becoming less common. So when I can get that in a restaurant, it really feels nice. Can't wait to come back here post-pandemic with my group of friends and share some margaritas, burritos, and laughs. I know Senor will be there waiting! read more

I'm SO HAPPY THESE GUYS HAVE MASTERED THEIR BIRRIA! When I say it's the best, I mean it's the absolute best. I've been going and ordering it for the past three years on and off and every time I was saying to myself "never again". But I always kept coming back. Especially since moving next door. I was praying that someone would step up in there and show them how to make it. The first time it was watery and bland. Basically just watered down beef broth. After getting Togo today, my fourth time trying their birria, it will be my go to every time I have a birria craving (which is a lot). lol. The service when you walk in is super attentive and they acknowledge you right away. When I've eaten inside the food comes out fast and your drinks are never left empty. I appreciate whoever makes the birria now and I appreciate the others that provide great service. read more

So the flavors of the food...pretty good. Got the shrimp cocktail, chimichanga, enchilada verde, fish tacos, chile relleno tamale combo. Cocktail, fish tacos, and chimichangas are on par for pretty good flavor and execution. Although the fish taco came with lettuce and cheese. I thought was weird. I was expecting cabbage, onions, cilantro. The chile relleno combo and enchiladas little disappointing. I'm not sure if this a different region, but I was expecting a chile relleno the size of my hand that had cheese and breaded and fried. This one was stuffed with beef and liquid white cheese and looked stewed. It was about the size of two fingers. The tamale was a good size but it was dry. The enchiladas are like all the enchiladas I've tried at every Mexican place. They're these like half baked things. But again flavor is much better than a lot of the other places in the area. read more

Have been here dozens of times and never disappointed. Great service - quick and friendly. Food is exceptional. Seems clean.

We stopped in here after visiting Magnolia Plantation, it's probably a 5-7 minute drive away. This restaurant is located in a strip mall plaza. Once seated, we were brought chips and salsa quite quickly. I'm not a big chip person but I did enjoy them. My dining companion ordered a Chile Colorado, which was good, but a little on the spicy side. The other member of our party had taquitos, they were ordered with ground beef, but came out with shredded. It tasted ok though. I had a quesadilla which was just alright, I've had better and worse. Ordered a side of sour cream, which was a couple of bucks. Seemed a little high. The margaritas were good. Patio was pet friendly too! There were a couple of other diners with dogs too. Overall, an average experience. read more
