Fajitas Side

Solid Mexican option. The drinks and food were good! We loved the fajitas. The queso seemed a bit milky and we didn't end up finishing it (this is rare for us). The drinks were flavorful but I was disappointed to see no difference besides syrup in the presentation of the speciality margs.

Great service and friendly staff. Clean and nice environment. I had the street tacos and they all were delicious! I had dinner with a friend here for the first time and will be back. Great place for authentic Mexican on Daniel Island.

Friendly visitor looking for chips and salsa

Great ambiance to include a gator by the pond! Frozen mango margs with tajin were delicious! Golden tacos were tasty - ask for habanero salsa to top them off! Really good refried beans! Overall, really good meal! Recommend and would go back!

This is Hands down the best food delivery I have ever gotten! Thank you I Have also dined in and the service is great, food/margaritas are amazing ! This is definitely a place worth spending your money

Tacos Alambre are fantastic.

My fiancé got the gringo beef tacos and were also great! Chips and salsa presented almost immediately. The queso with meat hit the spot. We ordered skinny margaritas and watched them get prepared FRESH. Overall great experience and will be back. The service was quick and pleasant. Sitting at the bar is always what we do. There was TVs playing live sports and upbeat music. The typical ambiance you would expect in a joint like this. Food smacked.

Casual date night with my wife. We decided on Agave because we had other plans on Daniel Island and we were in the mood for Mexican. The restaurant was almost empty. The atmosphere was more of a sports bar. The menu was large and chaotic so make sure that you study it a bit. Our waiter was really really great so that was the highlight of the evening. The food was bland. Sad to say like most local Mexican eateries. We love calamari and always try it wherever we go. Please don't order it. Worst we ever had. So when you are on the island and need a quick bite I would say go. It's not bad. And it's not good. It's just ok. Just like this review. I'm sounding like the three little bears aren't I. Take care peeps...

Food was average. There is a large variety of food which is nice. Overall this place is meh. Pretty filling but food is a little bland (could use some hot sauce)

COVID 19 takeout. Great job! Grande Beef Burrito and 2 seafood Enchiladas. Delicious! #thegreatamericantakeout

Decent Mexican for the area. Nachos are great - my wife likes the tacos and I enjoy a good pollo con chorizo. Would recommend

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

Every element worked together beautifully without overpowering the dish. The guacamole was exactly what great guacamole should be, creamy with just the right amount of texture, perfectly ripe avocados, fresh lime, and balanced seasoning that made it hard to stop eating. The Spanish rice, tomatillo sauce, and pinto beans were all equally delicious and clearly made with care and attention to flavor. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed chatting with our friendly and enthusiastic bartender, which made the experience even more memorable. Service, atmosphere, and food were all outstanding. Paying with Blackbird was an added bonus and made the evening even better. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

While the queso and the meat were good (not much of it though), everything else left a lot to be desired. The sauces were not good and kind of ruined the food for me. I'm surprised by how unimpressed we were. It's certainly not awful but wasn't worth $70 for two dinners (no alcohol). I don't recommend it and don't think we'll be back, unfortunately.

I frequent this establishment quite often with friends and not once over the years I've been going have I had a bad experience or dish. The fried mojarra is my personal favorite to get with fresh tortillas. It's always cooked perfectly, not overdone and flavorful. The street tacos are top tier! And while I didn't get one this time, their skinny margs are some of the best on the peninsula. Highly recommend. It's always very clean and prices are cheap!

Fortunately we were early enough to get a place to sit before the line formed out the door. The biggest complaint was the service. They appeared to be terribly understaffed for even a regular day. Service was sooooo slow. Hard to get even water refills. The food did arrive hot. It was very typical Mexican style food. I had a chicken macho burrito. The chicken was overcooked and it had a two shrimp in the filling. Fortunately I have no allergies to shellfish and actually like shrimp but his could have been disastrous for someone else. The restaurant was very loud and could also use some updates. In spite of the large crowd, and being grossly overworked, the staff remained helpful and friendly to the best of their ability which I give them kudos for considering the situation. Probably won't come back.

Our group called about 15 minutes in advance, and they were able to accommodate us quickly and attentively, even with the restaurant being fairly busy. The salsa and chips were ok. Not enough salt on the chips. The salsa was nicely substantial, but very bland. We ordered the traditional margaritas with ice and salted rims. You could taste the tequila, but they used the premix and it was very diluted. The drink tasted like lemon flavored water with liquor. I got the street tacos and she ordered the Azul bowl. Mine had great mixture of well prepared meat, but without the added hot sauce, pretty bland. On singular tacos; they only captured it one shell. Had to eat them with a knife and fork; impossible to pick them up without disintegrating. Most place use two or more shell preventing this from happening. The Azul bowl was a mix of beans, rice, corn, steak, avocado and a drizzle of sour cream. Overall, it too, was very bland. The highlight was the refried beans, but almost cold when they arrived. The cost we thought were high compared to comparable places. This is kind of a run of the mill place, but you can find better, even here on James Island. I can't see returning.
