Stopped in at lunch time with some coworkers and had a wonderful time! The lunch menu is great and offers wonderful deals on prices. Staff were super friendly and the food came out perfect!
We love this spot, and pop in a few times a year after events we work. They have great margaritas, and huge plates, even if you think it's going to be just a nibble. Staff is super friendly and helpful!!!
In town for work and decided to check this place out for dinner. Did not disappoint! Located in Park Circle restaurant district, this place is a hidden gem. Patio is a plus, especially on a beautiful night with cool breezy weather. Complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa could have used a little more heat. But I like that it is not watery or salty as other places I've been to. I ordered 3 streets tacos with flour tortillas. Portions were huge! Great flavors!
Stopped in last night... I went to the Summerville location a few weeks ago and it was fine, but came in anyways to the park circle location for Latinx month (thanks Scotty for the heads up on that!). I tried the fried tilapia and it was absolutely incredible! The meal I had at Summerville was OK but this was really top notch and a fair price too. Nicely spiced, super crispy outside, without much (or any?) breading and didn't feel heavy at all. Service was swift and friendly too. Really a good experience here! J.Ja
I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the hustling and bustling Azul. The staff was amazing as soon as I entered. I was short on time, so the hostess quickly sat me at the bar. The bartender brought me a menu and water and I ordered chips and guac. The guac was delicious and chips/salsa fresh. I ordered the lunch beef fajitas. They were served piping hot with flour tortillas, beans, guac, sour cream and pico de gallo. My sincere appreciation to the staff for their fast service.
We went here on a Friday night and there was a short weight but once we were seated the service was fast. We were greeted with free chips and salsa and also ordered questions. We each got plates and enjoyed them. Wet generous portions and I had enough leftover for lunch the next day. It's nice having a yummy Mexican restaurant right in my own neighborhood.
Azul is my favorite Mexican spot in Park Circle. The street chicken tacos were excellent. I also love their fried chimichangas. Always quick service.
I love that they have vegetable forward options for those of us who love Tex Mex but also like to have more than just a sprinkle of lettuce or onion as our veggie with dinner. Skinny margarita is great. As is the Azul Combo, especially with the sauce on the side. ¡Qué sabroso!
Park Circle has so many choices for lunch & dinner. I walked over to Azul while at lunch from a training nearby. Was greeted immediately with a smile by the hostess. Sat at the bar and was served within a minute or 2. Their full menu was available, but I ordered the lunch Chori-Pothan. Stacked on complimentary chips and salsa while I waited. Received the meal in less than 10 minutes. Everything was delicious!
We headed here for a late night dinner after a Halloween event. The chips were a bit hard and the salsa were ok, but the queso was on point. I really enjoyed my fish tacos that were cooked to perfection. I've ordered them before and they are a personal favorite of mine. The bar service was just ok. We had to ask for extra napkins, a refill on our water and chips. The restaurant has a fun, young and trendy vibe. A great choice if you're looking for a place to socialize.
I recently came here with a group and I must say that Azul did a great job handling our large party. I didn't organize it but it was a friends birthday and I was invited to join. We had close to twenty people and people arrived over a 20 minute period. They were quick to grab drink orders for anyone that arrived and then took all the food orders at once. There might have been a couple mix ups on whose food was whose, but everything came out pretty quickly and it was all sorted out properly. Someone also brought a cake that they helped us coordinate and were overall helpful towards facilitating a fun surprise meet up with friends. I had the fried chimichangas this time around and while I have some other favorites on the menu, I will say the chimichangas were great.
Good experience at Azul on Saturday evening. They had several outside tables which were mostly full, so we sat inside since it was largely empty. That changed pretty quickly as the inside filled too; got very noisy once it did. There's a large public parking lot around the corner. Our server was friendly and food came out quickly. Their free salsa was very tasty; it helped add some flavor to a couple of their less flavorful items. They weren't bad, just a little bland. The sampler appetizer included nachos at the bottom, so the chips were a bit soggy by the time we got down to them; honestly the nachos were mostly lettuce. The guac was good, and the jalapeños provided a nice flavor. The taquitos weren't overly flavorful but the salsa and guac helped. I must say the cheese dip was watery and the brown gravy-like sauce just wasn't very good. Overall the food was good, but not great. We split the sampler and both left full since it was plenty of food for two. We enjoyed our visit to Azul and wouldn't hesitate to go again, but would probably try some different items next time.
Amazing mexican food! They serve chips and salsa when you are waiting. Tables outside to eat at with music. Get the Quesadillas Jalisco, you will not regret it. Giving it 4/5 because the inside smelled like pine-sol and the service was mediocre. Good food though
I come here often and it's always great! The prices for both lunch and dinner are good, and the amount of food for the price is great. The food also always comes out fresh and delicious . Great ambiance, not too loud and a game is usually playing on the TV. The servers are also very nice and the service is fast. read more
Some of the best affordable Mexican food in the area. Great authentic tasting, well priced and seasoned well. Food is made to order. Plenty of street parking, and seating indoors. Clean inside with decor that matches and themed towards the food. The one thing they don't have is tamales, but other than that the food felt like eating at grandmas house. read more

I've been here a few times and I absolutely love their cucumber margaritas. Especially the spicy ones. I always order the chicken quesadilla fajita but I never eat the tortilla bc it's usually very soggy! I mostly just dump the chicken and veggies and eat it like rice chicken and salad. I'm sure there's a better way to order that meal but I'm a fan of my way. lol Azul in park circle is a great place to hang out for dinner or just drinks. There is outdoor seating that places you right in the heart of the action! The servers are good but the bartenders are very distracted. I Editing this review to give 2 stars instead of 4. I recently returned and after my drink was made incorrectly twice. I was told by the manager if they remade the drink again I would have to pay for it even though the bartender was making the drink incorrectly. I declined to have any more drinks and left. read more

Azul Mexicano is Tex-Mex style restaurant located in the heart of Park Circle. It's a smaller restaurant, but I was surprised with the amount of seating available. Options include inside and out. We had gotten our table outside, and even being alongside the main road in town, we were only disrupted by the occasional loud car or motorcycle driving by. Very far and few between thankfully. Azul Mexicano drink packed with plenty of house specialty cocktails and tequilas, also a solid domestic and import beer list. I started with a Azul's Treasure margarita and I may be the only one to complain that the tequila was overpowering the margherita. And please do not think I don't appreciate a strong drink, I was just really looking forward to the taste of a specialty marg. This one was still very refreshing as it included Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, agave and orange juice. For starters we ordered the Queso Fundido which was a standard queso Blanco. The added chorizo is what made it worthwhile. I really would have enjoyed the queso a little more if they kicked it up a notch, by maybe adding taco seasoning to the queso. Still a solid cheese dip. We also ordered the ceviche, which came in one of the largest portions I have ever seen. The seafood tasted fresh, I just wish there was more citrus and cilantro flavors going through out the whole dish and not just certain bites. For my mains I ordered one of each, a fish, shrimp, and chorizo taco. The tacos easily were the star of the show. Not that I have a taco bias or anything, they were all delicious tacos. I also really enjoyed the green sauce it was served with. Very light and creamy but had a spicy kick at the end. This should be served with every item on the menu. I also ordered pork enchiladas; they were good. Nothing special about that, but nothing bad to say about them either. I wish more spices and seasonings were used so each bite you greeted with a burst of flavor. It was also plated with an unnecessary amount of refried beans, guac, lettuce & tomatoes. Azul Mexicana is in a prime location to meet with friends in the heart of Park Circle, great starting place to grab a bite to eat before heading to another one of the local bars or wine shops in the area. Now that the weather is becoming a little warmer the patio is where you want to be before it gets too warm to enjoy the outside. Visited 16 May 2023 read more

Went here with a friend the other night for dinner. The food was really good, it was just weird because we ordered appetizers and our entrees and they brought it all out at the same time, to the point where there was barely any table space. Nonetheless, my street tacos were great! read more
This was my first time going to Azul, and I was excited. The location is nice and clean, and the decor is vibrant. I ordered the gringo tacos with both chicken and beef. The service was fast and the food came out very quickly! Both meat options lacked flavor and seasoning, making it difficult to enjoy the tacos and making the overall experience disappointing. The portion sizes were decent, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the lack of taste in the main ingredients. I also ordered rice with a side of beans. The rice was very tasty, but it was cold. The refried beans were also a bit bland. Overall, the sides were better than the main dish, but still fell short. The overall dining experience was disappointing and did not meet my expectations. read more
The amount of rice and the three enchiladas was a one to one ratio. I don't know if I should complain or not because I love rice, but the enchiladas were the main dish. I thought the portion of the enchiladas was small and the inside was pretty dry, but all three sauces are very delicious. Parking space is available almost anywhere is park circle. You just have to find it for yourself and are willing to walk to the restaurant. However, walking in the Park Circle strip is a very nice pretty walk in the evening with friends or with a date. Overall, 7.3 out of 10. read more
This was a great lunch spot, people were friendly and they get the food out too you fairly quickly. Nothing special about the salsa, but it's good. The fish tacos were good, the sauce was a little sweet, I don't mind sweet, but I'm going to need a little punch or kick of spice in at as well, and these don't have that. The chilaquiles were really good as well, didn't have huevos on the chilaquiles but was loaded with chicken. read more

It's Cinco de Mayo right!? I came to Charleston on a business trip and searched yelp to find a good place to celebrate. I decided to try Azul based on the yelp reviews. For starts the hostesses are amazing! Super friendly. I opted to sit at the bar as I was dining alone. The bartenders were super rude from the beginning. I just sat down, no menu or anything and she asks "What do I want to drink?!" I ask for a menu and she gave me a blank stare. For starters I ordered a chicken tortilla soup, I didn't like it but I did not complain. The peach margarita was delicious. I then ordered fish tacos and told the bartender I was finished with the soup. I never once complained or ask for it to be removed from ticket. Another bartender approached me and said in a rude way "That I will still need to pay for the soup"! I never asked for a refund or said I didn't like it, all I said was she can take the soup. This was very rude and I was blindsided and embarrassed. Even if I did complain, in which I didn't, how dare you tell a customer they have to pay for something that is bland and not good??? These two ladies were very rude and I will never dine here again. read more

Went on a Saturday just after lunch. They weren't too busy and we were seated immediately. I saw a picture of their Guac from a previous review so knew I immediately wanted to try it. It was such a beautiful green - stupid fresh and so worth it. For our entree, my boyfriend got the shrimp tacos and I got the steak fajitas. Now, the steak fajitas were good (could've used a little salt but that's just me) but the shrimp tacos? OH MY LAWD. He was such a good sport and let me have one of his 3 shrimp tacos and I brought my fajitas home for dinner later. Definitely going back for the shrimp tacos. read more
Azul is my go to spot when I'm in the mood for Chilaquiles. Their rice is a step above most other Mexican restaurants, because they add in vegetables and potatoes along with good seasoning. The staff is very attentive. I'm sure that having the huge ice machine behind the bar is helpful for the bartender, but it hurts the aesthetic, which is otherwise great. read more

Save yourself the money. We left with drinks almost full and plates barely touched. 1) the margaritas. We had the spicy jalapeño and strawberry. Both were missing ingredients and tasted like a heavy hand of cheap tequila. Not in a good way. 2) the Golden Tacos with chicken. The chicken was flavorless and appeared to be boiled instead of grilled. Zero seasoning. Soggy tortilla, not crispy. 3) the Fish taco (breaded). Sort of like cubed fish sticks. Chipotle mayo was alright. 3) the rice. It tasted like Uncle Ben's microwaved pouch. Not bad, not good. 4) the refried beans. Passable. 5) the chips, queso, and salsa. I would assume it's Tostitos all around. read more

It's Monday night at 6pm. The place is PACKED. Several large parties. Tons of 2-4 people tables. And this place isn't small either. So something must be good here! And yes, the food is amazing. Look at that burrito! I ate most of it but probably shouldn't have. lol. And all the dishes that went by looked and smelled equally as good. This is how I like my Mexican food. Huge portions. Covered in sauce and sour cream. And high quality. I will definitely be back often. read more

The margaritas were tasty! I got the azuls treasure and it went down smooth! We went out as a group to celebrate a friend's divorce being finalized and Azul accommodated our group of 11 guests outstandingly!! Upon being seated, the servers bring out chips and salsa which was a nice pre-game to the entrees we ordered. I chose the trios pollo enchiladas because I'm a sucker for mole and verde sauces and saw it came with a side of arroz. I was mega hungry that moment because I definitely cleaned my plate and left no crumbs. It could get a wee bit loud on the inside but Azul does offer outdoor seating which is perfect for summer golden hours and evening. Would definitely come back just for the margaritas and attentive crew! Thanks Azul for having us!! read more
