Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Redding, CA for work. This restaurant is connected to the hotel. They service breakfast and dinner and have a full bar. I've had their breakfast, all American and continental, pretty quick service. There's happy hour in the early afternoon and some snacks but if there's tons of people then dinner can get busy. Probably easier to go up to the bar to order than table service. I ordered the salad with steak medium rare, it was really good and a large amount. The steak was good, people were satisfied with their meals and it was easy especially if you were staying at this hotel. This place has potential Unfortunately, what doesn't help is the service. I decided to sit at the bar since the place was empty and there was only another person at the bar with me. This being my first time I asked to see the menu. The menu is quite small not many options to choose from so I went with the New York steak and mashed potatoes for dinner, which was amazing. The steak was so juicy and tender. To be honest. I didn't expect it to be that good. So I didn't know what beer tabs or beer bottles they had available. I asked the bartender if they had a beer menu and quickly he answered NO. I also noticed and attitude on his tone of voice and the way he said it. I ignored it and just said, can I have whatever IPA you have. My food came out around 10 minutes after and still he had not bring me my IPA yet. I started eating my steak without anything to drink until I had to wave him down and remind him of my IPA. I totally forgot his name, but I'm sure he's the main bartender at this place. This is a hidden jewel. The pesto sauce is so lovely and because background noise is minimal you don't have to raise your voice to speak to the person across the table. Drinks are commendable. Service is quite fast and the atmosphere is relaxing. It's becoming our favorite go-to place. read more

I have no idea what's up with the low rated reviews here! My service was just fine, I waited 9 minutes for my breakfast omelet to come out. Yeah, I timed it cause of all the shaky reviews, I was prepared for the worst, but it didn't happen! I think there's reviewers that seem to only post when they have something to complain about. And, yes, you can get a free breakfast if you're staying here ta the Holiday Inn, you just have to ask nice and smile when you do! I got 2 free breakfasts here. You get anything on the menu and a drink. So I wander in around 7am, they open for breakfast at 6am till 11 am. There's hardly any customers, tho I was greeted right away and told to sit anywhere. I showed my voucher and was told order anything on the breakfast menu and a drink. Well, since free coffee is right there in the lobby 24/7, I got orange juice. I ordered the Omelet that came with hashbrowns and toast. You get a choice of fillings and cheese plus choice of potato. 9 minutes later my food arrived. I wish I hadn't forgot my damn camera, this is a good lookin breakfast. The omelet was plenty generous and the big serving of perfectly cooked hashbrowns was spectacular, I kid you not, these were some of the best hashbrowns I've had. It takes skill to do there right, crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside, like a french fry done right! Toast was served buttered and hot ... I just hate cold toast! My husband is in town for two months,working for a project to help fire survivors in Paradise. The good healthy breakfast at the hotel, and the friendly faces of the servers are keeping him alive. This week I'm visiting, and we just had breakfast together. On my husband's advice, I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was very nice. We are breakfast burrito snobs going back to the days when we would drive to LA to get the best ones. My husband's eggs over easy looked perfectly cooked, and I can tell I'll have to up my egg game when he gets back, because in my kitchen only sunny side up, poached or scrambled are only on offer. read more

Ive stayed here every other week for the last year and eat here about half the time. Service is great. Yasmin is very personable and fun to talk to. Fire cracker shrimp with a side salad is perfect. I had the fish and chips tonight and they were surprisingly good. They need to get some dark beers on tap but they usually have a couple good IPAs. Overall I would recommend. read more

So we are here for the new years eve party. Invested in staying the night and dinner. NOT happy with dinner. Service was slow. Dinner rolls came out and were cold. Hubby ordered cheese raviolis which were good and hot. I ordered the beef tails with garlic potatoes. Both cold. Vegetables were cold and unedible. We had dinner here at the hotel and I was initially wondering if I was going to be sorry. To my surprise I was super happy with the nightly special of Pot Roast. The food was awesome. Went there last night for a work party and decided to go into the bar to get a drink. Terrible idea! Friday night and the lady behind the bar seemed frazzled. Rough count of 10 people in the bar area. She told us she had to run to the kitchen to get someones food. We waited a few minutes ( no big deal he was there first) then she mumbled something and walked back in the kitchen. After 10 minutes of waiting plus her not so friendly attitude we left. Our party turned out decent. Wait staff were on top of taking care of pur table pretty good. The food on the other hand probably would have tasted decent it wasn't cold. Everyones plates at our table were cold. I know cooperations use them frequently for parties so this is not their first rodeo. I hope they choose to hive some sort of discount and make this right because i know if this was me spending thousands of dollars i would be demanding some sort of compensation. If you mess up you need to address it and compensate for your mess up. Thats what any business with good customer service would do. read more

This place is in the Holiday Inn. The tip-off should have been the fact that there were only two tables occupied when were arrived for a Sunday morning breakfast. Both had young children so they were obviously staying there. We should have turned and left right then, but we didn't. It took a while to get our coffee and we joked that maybe the waitress was doing double duty as cook. We both ordered the Skillet Breakfast, that was topped with two overcooked over-easy eggs. It was not horrible, but not great. Also, the coffee was watery. I felt sorry for the waitress, who was doing her best. Went here for breakfast because they do have some excellent biscuits and gravy. When I ordered my breakfast of B&G and two eggs I wrongly thought I would be receiving potatoes along with it. Why did I think that? Because it says it right on the menu. "All breakfast selections come with breakfast potatoes..." It also says something about choice of bread. So we receive our breakfast and the waitress quickly retreats back to the kitchen area. I thought she was going back to grab our potatoes. After about 5 minutes I summon another waiter and explain what I was thinking. (By this time I had grabbed a menu to make sure I was reading it correctly. It's pretty straight forward and clear.) As I'm talking with the waiter, the waitress finally comes back and wants to know what the problem was. Her attitude was immediately one of being put off, even before I explained what I had thought. As I did, she acted very bothered and offered no apology about the misunderstanding. She very rudely asked me if I wanted potatoes with my breakfast or not. I said, yes. She then marches back to the kitchen. So my friend and I continue eating our breakfast. I watched another customer walk in, place an order and receive his potatoes while ours were still missing. We actually completely finished our breakfast, and paid for it after the waitress had dropped off our bill and told us the potatoes were coming. We waited another 5 minutes. Ta da! The potatoes have arrived! She quickly retreats back to the kitchen before I can ask for ketchup. Waited another 5 minutes. No waitress or wait staff in sight. Left very unhappy. This place is inside Holiday Inn. Checked into HI after and a long drive and a tiring hike. Came to the restaurant super hungry and was utterly disappointed. 1. We waited for the waitress to make us seated for some 5-7 minutes and there was no sign of any. There was a table with menus at the entrance So we thought somebody will get us seated. We occupied a table as told by a HI staff who just walked past us with whom we enquired about the seating. 2. We had to wait for another 10 minutes to get out orders taken. The waitress was pleasant and was super busy as she was the only waitress when we checked in. Her service was great, but was super slow inspite of her running from table to table to kitchen. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. 3. After waiting for another 30 minutes, the food came. Fish tacos was good Buffalo chicken was undercooked and lacked flavours. Firecracker shrimp was okay We even thought of cancelling the order and walking out. But was super tired to drive again. Decided NOT to come back for breakfast. Not coming back ever. read more

The braided Mane is a very convenient location inside the Holiday Inn. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The day we were here and they were very busy with room service orders. So those waiting in the dining area waited at least 40 minutes from the time they ordered to get their food and the food we received was cold and not very good The soda was flat and they ha no way to fix it and no cans of soda to replace it. Okay but nothing special, seems very Sysco out of the bag type meals. Especially the appetizers. I attended a banquet recently and was not impressed at all. I understand banquet food is hard to pull off but I happened to be at a banquet at Win River only a week before and the food from Holiday was poor in comparison. The Braided Mane appears to be one of Redding's unappreciated secrets as there were few patrons in the dining room on an early Friday nite, but I and my wife found no reason for the dearth of diners given the good quality of the food, the quiet comfortable atmosphere, and the friendly, knowledgeable, and happy-to-serve-you staff. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and went there for breakfast. Food was okay, but the service ... talking about making you feel unwelcome. Coming in we were told they had a full restaurant and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar tables (with a child). We asked about an apparently open table in the restaurant: "Oh, that has to be cleaned". We asked if that could be done and they cleaned it in a minute or two. Then it seemed we never got a friendly face, we almost felt like we're a burden. Again, food was good, no complaints here. To top it off, the head lady (owner, manager, not sure) brought us the bill to the table immediately after our food came. We hadn't even put a fork into our food. No comment or asking if we wanted anything else. We almost felt like we needed to apologize for something we did or said. Not sure what that would have been though. We had the ribeye steak and it was cooked to our liking, and tasted so good.
