I reached out to multiple basement waterproofing companies in my area for estimates for my basement. Bracken waterproofing was the last company I reached out to, and im glad I did. The estimate was extremely fair and honestly the best estimate I received. Danny was a very honest person. I made the mistake of saying what I could afford and instead of charging me that, the amount was well under my budget. Very easy scheduling the work and getting it completed in 2 days. I have read other reviews here and I cannot agree with them. My experience with Bracken was nothing short of exceptional. If you are in the market for waterproofing, reach out to Bracken. First, I want to start by saying the job they did on my basement was outstanding. I even had a leak a year or so after repairs were made and Danny scheduled to have it fixed immediately. The issue I have is my neighbor had his attorney send me a demand letter asking that I relocate the discharge pipe that was installed by Bracken, so it no longer discharges towards his property. PA law is very clear on directing water towards your neighbor's property so there for the discharge should have never be placed where it was. I reached out to Danny and explained the situation to him and asked if he could move the discharge pipe. Danny did state that after 14 years he normally wouldn't do anything but under these circumstances he would make arrangements to have the repair done. After Danny didn't show up on the agreed date I reached out again asking if he still planned on making the repairs or if I should try to find a contractor that could. After a couple of days of not hearing back from Danny I just ended up scheduling the repairs with another contractor. I know the system has been installed for 14 years, however when the law is as clear as it is about discharging water in your neighbor's direction, I would think the repairs would fall on the company that installed the system. In my opinion it is their responsibility to know the law surrounding those circumstances and fully comply with them. Unfortunately, instead of Bracken making the repairs it cost me $240 for another contractor to complete the work. read more

I am here helping my very close friend in Imler who discovered he had water in his basement. We reached out to get a bid on what the cost would be. Chris, the sales person came over and was nice enough, and we all got along and came in with a decent bid. As the date approached for them to come out and do the job, my friend needed more time because she wasn't feeling well and had to tackle making room in the basement, so he called several weeks in advance to reschedule. The date finally arrived in which the job would be started, which was Monday, June 13, 2022. It was set for the morning around 10:00 am. When approximately noon rolled around, my friend called Chris but got no response. He then phoned the company in Hollidaysburg and left a message on their answering machine. Much later, Dan the owner returned the call. He said they got tied up on another job, and couldn't make it. My friend asked why he didn't get a phone call. Dan said he thought Chris did...no communication at all between the two of them and I. Well, Dan said we could be there Tuesday, which was the next day, and I said fine. Tuesday rolls around, and there was no one who showed up. My friend reached out by phone to no avail, and I texted Chris. letting him know no one showed up. A bit later, he responded with the word "what??". I also mentioned in my text, that my friend was really upset that no one had called him and to please reach out to him. No one phoned him the entire day. I got a text from Chris stating that Dan said it wasn't Tuesday, but Wednesday. Now, my friend is VERY OCD woot comes to times and dates, and I was sitting there as well when he was told Tuesday. Now Wednesday rolls around and my friend is really upset that no one had called him, and it's now early afternoon. My friend said to me, "if they are this lax when it comes to communication, and they never show up, what would happen if after they install my basement interior trenches and something goes wrong? I don't want them to do the job anymore!" So, my friend called Chris' phone and he didn't answer. He left a voicemail stating he doesn't want them to do the work, and was firing them. No response from Chris or Dan. Thursday rolls around now, and a truck pulls up with workers who want to start the job. My friend politely walked out to the truck and explain to them what had transpired the last few days, and told them he had fired the company from doing the job. My friend gets a call from Chris. who was apologetic and said that he didn't understand why they were being fired, but, also mentioned "this is not the first time this is happened". Then, my friend gets a nasty call from Dan pretending that everything was normal and the installation is for Thursday. He was quite indignant with his voice raised. Why Fred told him exactly what had transpired and that no one ever responded to his voice messages. He even told Dan that he left a message on Chris's phone the day before firing them. Dan then said, well if you don't let my crew in today to do the job, I will take this to the magistrate because you have broken the contract. My friend then responded, "fine". So, all I can advise any potential customer who is thinking about hiring this company, is to rethink their decision! They are nonresponsive, indignant, and who knows if there are any problems, if they would ever redo and take care of the issue. read more

Needed a company to fix my home's crawl space foundation central supports, block exterior vents, grade and do a full enclosed encapsulation. This company gave us the best price for the quality, compared to other contractors in the area. Chris quoted us, saying the company could do all the work that was needed. He seemed like a knowledgeable contractor, so we started off with the company. After getting the initial quote I realized that Chris's measurements were too short. After contacting him about the error and him fixing the quote, I realized the new quote had an attachment and porch that couldn't be encapsulated included. After fixing the quote again, I realized there were other services that were not listed, that needed to be included. So the quote had to be updated again, for the third time. This was very frustrating because it was taking so long and so many errors were being made, but we stuck with it, determined to get it done. While this communication was going on, Chris kept coming back to the house to confirm. After 3 house visits and 3 weeks of communication, everything was set with Chris and the company owner Dan. The job was scheduled for August 8 and my husband and I were excited and ready to go! The crew showed up and the Head crewman asked me some questions and then they all disappeared for 30 minutes. When I saw them later they were taking the liners to the back of my house. I did not see any of the equipment for the foundation work, which needed to be done first. Then the Head crewman came to speak to me again and stated that the grading was more extensive than the quote. (Really, Chris came to my house and was in the crawlspace on 3 different occasions and knew the extent of it, but okay.) I said that the quote stated that leveling was a part of the job and that if they couldn't do it then there wasn't a job. So, the crew never intended to do the full extent of the work we hired them for. Instead of contacting Chris or Dan and giving me a bid for the "additional" amount of work, the crew gathered all the liners, loaded up their truck and disappeared. Before leaving, the Head crewman advised me that my deposit check would be mailed back to me that week. I've tried to contact Chris or the owner Dan, to no avail. I still haven't received my deposit check back. It's now August 20th and still nothing. Before hiring, I made sure this company was a real licensed business with liability insurance but I guess that doesn't matter anymore. Would NOT recommend.
