Beware of this company. Had a water leak insurance hooked us up with malhokos. Signed a contract,they began work.6 months later they finally finished.They(Steve) presented a bill twice over insurance claim.entire time we keep asking for update on bill. Not a word from Steve. We contacted them for a estimate on a Outdoor Kitchen Island. We just need the island built with cabinets and a space for a Fridge. Nothing else no Grill or anything and no plumbing or electrical work, we are doing the concrete slab ourselves and doing the Granite top, so they just need to do a U shaped island 10x6 feet and he took two weeks to get me a estimate I had to call twice to prompt them for it and he came in at $11,800.......WHAT!!!??????? Our house burnt Jan 10 2020. Mihalkos was ther within a few days w it's our insurance agent. Kevin was fantastic. He walked us through every step of the way including several changes to the house. We our now in our house and it is perfect. The crews that worked on the house were polite, enjoyable and got the work done. If we have any questions we know we can count on Kevin and his workers. If I could give zero stars, i certainly would. Going back a couple years, I asked them for an estimate for some patchwork on my roof. Emphasis on PATCH work, ie some missing shingles, etc. Their estimate was $2k. I said, that's a bit high for some patchwork, would you mind giving me a reason why? I never heard back, and another contractor did it for a few hundred dollars. Then, about a year later, i had a pipe freeze in my half bath, and in an emergency/desperation, i had them fix it, as they as very close to my house. $2000 for less than 20 sq.ft of drop ceiling and a repaired pipe. Ok, it was an emergency, a Sunday, etc. That's fine. What is not fine is, just today, a good stiff breeze through that area of my house sent that drop ceiling crashing to the floor. I would expect a bit higher quality work. I will never give these guys another dollar of my business as long as i live, and will make sure every living soul i know does the exact same. And spread the word. These guys are a joke. You're better off on Craigslist. At worst, you'll save money with a similarly garbage job done. read more

If you are thinking of using this company, don't! Unprofessional staff from the top down. The only person who was professional was the gentleman who did the repairs. Every other person who entered our home was rude, made inappropriate comments, and lazy. Damage to furniture, broke gas knob off (which we paid to fix), broke washing machine drain, and broke the refrigerator. They did replace our brand new table however they were sure to insult the piece then increase the quote to the insurance company (increase covered the price of the item and travel). They did not offer to repair the refrigerator! All of the damage was caused by pure laziness! If they cared about a clients property the damages could have been avoided. Make a better choice than we did and choose someplace else! read more

Crooked as they come. Showed up and did 30 minutes of work I NEVER ASKED THEM TO DO. Then lied to my husband and said I asked them to come. LIES! Sent a bill for $403 for almost 4 hours of work. They were literally here 30 mins tops. Again, never asked them to come. I only asked for an estimate. Left their trash in my yard then hounded me til I paid them. I went to their office and requested somebody call me if they would like to make this right. Never heard a word but they sure cashed that check. Underhanded and desperate for business I guess. Wow! How do these people stay in business. Called for an estimate. Took 12 days to finally get someone to look/see. Never submitted estimate to my insurance company nor me and my wife. Told us they did but never filed estimate at all. We lost almost 30 days in trying to repair a leaky roof that has led to additional damage to a bedroom. The short: Mihalko's General Contractors are too busy & too arrogant to tell new customers their job is not big enough for them to bother. Detailed Challenge: I reached out to Mihalko's in early April of 2016, requesting a bid for a new roof. I was told they are scheduling appointments 30 days out. Based on feed back of others online I assumed this was a good sign. If a company is that busy they must be on top of their game, BAD ASSUMPTION. There estimator "Derek" showed up after 30 days to bid the job. No ladders, no paper just a carrying a Milhalko's leaflet talking about the company. I asked if he need a ladder and his response "I don't get on roofs anymore.." I asked how will you measure and look at the condition. His response "I just need to take some note and I'll get an estimate for you in a week". After waiting a week, I called Milhalko's and asked for Derek and got his voicemail after calling 4 more times Derek returned my call 13 days after his initial visit. He sent a bid and left several items off of the bid as he did NOT take notes or pay attention. After I explained the project "again" he put a generic bid together in 45 minutes. As a potential new customer I was appalled. The Milhalko's bid was 220% more than the next closest bid. 26 square house 12 square garage $13,889.00 House $22,685.00 Garage ================= $36,574.00 Total Roughly $1000 per square?? Milhalko's General Contracting!! It took 6 weeks to provide evidence of how unprofessional and ignorant this company is. Thank you for the wasting my time. read more

Mihalko's will design your home and then take it from you!!! Our house caught fire do to the neighbor's house catching fire and spread to our home. We had insurance and thought everything would be taken care of. Mihalko's will talk a great price and even guide you through the process like they genuinely care.  Took over 8 months to do some of the work because the house still is not complete. They hire poor workers that to half jobs their paint jobs are the worst. I came to the house every other weekend and never saw workers. Then they up charge you on everything. When they were asked to do certain things in the home we were told they could only do what the house originally had. Well the old house never had so much lighting throughout the house in my life. Long story short they are taking my Grandmother's house because they went over $58,194.00 and expect her to pay in within 3 months. A retired nurse that is on a major fixed income. They forced her to apply for their finance option and guess what she didn't qualify for $58,000.00. She couldn't even afford to pay the monthly payment of what she did qualify for.  But yet they still put a mechanical lien against her and now an Order of Execution!!! Great job Mihalko's bad enough we had a house fire that was not caused by us, but now you take the home my Grandmother has ever owned. read more

Don't EVER trust this company to do any work for you!!! I paid them to put a new roof on my house. Within the first year Shingles were blowing off in any strong wind!! We called the company MORE THAN ONCE and were told that they would send someone out to look at the problem - they never did. My roof began to leak badly. I had to pay another contractor to replace their bad roof less than 5 years after their VERY BAD JOB! read more

I recently opened a restaurant in Downtown Johnstown and Mihalko's was my contractor. They were incredible through the entire process!!!! I gave them what I thought could potentially be an unrealistic deadline. Not only did they meet the deadline, they beat it by a few days. The crew was top-notch! They were so hardworking and nice. As the person above stated were do I start?! My kitchen, dinning room and basement had suvire water damage do to a faulty delta faucet. Problem 1 They threw out my perfectly good working stove because they didn't pay attention to the estimate. Problem 2 they used my own personal tools like my table saw, chop saw and ladder. Problem 3 drywall work was garbage didn't sand down areas they muded and then painted over the crap work. Problem 5 they constantly left doors open and windows at ground level unlocked. Problem 6 job supervisor George Miller would never call or send pictures of so called work being done. Problem 7 window frame was busted and new window molding did not line up what so ever. Problem 8 drywall work is incomplete and paint on my new cabinets. Problem 9 oak transition strips went missing. Problem 10 baseboard molding was very choppy. Problem 10 grout on my back splash is incomplete and grout is smeared on tile and dried. Problem 11 wrong flooring was put in the kitchen. Problem 12 wires for my door bell are nowhere to be found they dry walled over them. Problem 13 they tried to use caulking in the place of grout on the backsplash. Problem 14 vent for heat went missing. Problem 15 corner of my cabinet is unfinished. I'm sure there is more I just can't remember but before I hired them I check reviews on their Facebook and all looked good, now I know why, because when a negative review is posted like this which I did they quickly remove it. This company is the worst I've ever seen even took the owner into a bedroom that I gutted and remodeled from the ground up and he's said it looks very nice I said I know and this is what I expected out of your people. I called and the lady Jeanne said she called me to reschedule and couldn't leave a message and said she also emailed me. Lies. Then she refused to reschedule. What a joke! Where to start? If I could rate this business and give it no stars I would! We had called Mihalkos after having some water damage from a snow storm. While they did arrive within 3 hours to survey the situation all they did was cut a hole in the ceiling and say a crew would be out in the morning. The crew showed up and the first thing they did was stand on top of my bed to start tearing down the ceiling! After having words with them that the furniture they were stading on was given to me by my mother who is now deceased they quickly moved it out of the way but still who does that??! It was very muddy out side from melting snow and they walked thru my entire house without putting a single drop cloth or anything down to prevent further damage. They did demolition on top of brand new carpet without putting anything down and ruined the carpet (which was originally fine and only 3 months old). They dropped ceilings, insulation and water all over other furniture and they were even to lazy to take down the ceiling fan before ripping down the ceiling. They didn't spray and treat anything for mold like we were told they would do. They seem to have way to many "bosses" and they each like to blame the other instead of taking responsibility for issues. This company came in and totally disrespected our home and caused way more damage than was initially there to start. We ended up throwing them out of our home after they told us they would clean up after themselves and scrub the floors if we paid them $110 per room. We had to have another company come in to finish the work they were supposed to do and never did and to clean up the mess that they made in addition to our original damage. NEVER would i recommend this company to anyone not even to my worst enemy. read more
