The porch took a week to complete, the men were very courteous and friendly, again. They did a wonderful job. That porch roof will last quite a long time. It is very sturdy. I can once again sit outside and relax with a book and a cup of tea. I am considering using Chris again for some inside work I need done. The price was fair and didn't change. We are so pleased with our new back yard!!…read more The wonderful gentlemen from FHE turned our grassy slope into a useable terraced space in just a week! We had a hard-to-mow yard on a hill that we didn't use, and that wasn't drained. Every hard rain resulted in a wet basement. The crew from FHE worked with us for weeks to get plans just right, then they came and worked and made it real! We now have two flat levels with a retaining wall and stairs. We can actually set furniture out now, and the yard is drained properly. They reseeded the lawn and laid down straw before they left. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything looking beautiful! They always made sure I could park where I needed to and could access the back door. They worked around my lilacs and were careful not to disrupt too much. Best of all is the fact that these gentlemen were courteous and spoke well to us and to each other. I didn't have to listen to any garbage or nastiness while they worked. It was an expensive project, but we feel we got good value for what we paid. Yes - gas and materials are pricey right now - that's just the way it is. But these guys did their best to do our project right, and we are thrilled! Actually, zero stars, you will want to stay away from this Micklow family business. Just because…read moreyou buy a pressure washer, paint sprayer, and think you know which end of a paint brush to use does not mean you know what you are doing. Micklow pressured washed some of our awnings the result was that there was still a lot of dirt, chalk, and algae still on them, when informed that they needed to be properly cleaned and prepped Micklow started screaming and swearing. He said that he was going to wipe them down with a rag and that would be good enough. They will lie right to your face; Micklow told us that he would take the awning pieces that were removed to his home garage and clean, prep, and spray paint them inside, which results in a nicer finish then roller or brushing them, they would also be safe, clean, and dry. Actually, I found the pieces where they spray painted in their dirt and 8" + tall grass yard. Understand you need at least 2000, two thousand, psi to spray latex paint. Due to their incompetence, the result was dirt and grass imbedded in the paint. Since they were unsupervised, Micklow did not properly clean the pieces, they painted over the spider nest (nidus) and you could see algae where they missed. Shortly after starting the project Micklow got a full-time job which explains why he would call to say he was going to come over to work and not show up. So, think twice before you have NO-SHOW MICKLOW do anything for you. If you find this hard to believe or if they say to your face that it's not true I have about fifty photos of their work plus the local magistrate ruled in my favor, however they have yet to pay for the court awarded judgment, so beware. From the start they were straightforward about what they believed the problem was and what it would cost--no surprises. They stuck to the agreed start date, and I honestly learned more from this contractor than I did from our local water and sewer company. What really set them apart is that they handle everything from start to finish. They don't subcontract the work out, so there were no delays or extra coordination that could have held up the sale of our house. It truly was one-stop shopping. The crew also left our property looking like no one had ever been there--impressive, especially given the tight space they had to work in. Our neighbor had the same type of work done around the same time, and the difference was night and day. Their clean-out was left sticking a couple of inches above the ground with no grass seed, while ours was finished cleanly and the lawn was left pristine. If we ever need this kind of work again, American Sewer Specialist will be our first call. Honesty, integrity, speed, great communication, and a fair price.
