Best seller~Rice and Beans Mexido - Full Portion

Food was sooooo fresh. Enough to feed 3 people for price $25!! Staff was friendly polite. I sat with my coworker at the bar counter looking out the window. Since it was our first time there they gave us a complementary delicious truffle like dessert!! I also ordered sweet plantains and flan! Authentic And phenomenal!!!

This place is amazing! The food never disappoints and always leaves me wanting more! When I order delivery the food arrives warm and fresh. When I stop by for takeout the food is made to order with not a long wait. The daily specials are a great value but realistically there is not a thing that I have tried that I did not love! And let us not forget about the desserts...the pave de leite ninho is my weekly guilty pleasure! SO GOOD!!

"There's one thing I'm certain of Return, I will, to old…read moreBrazil" (Frank Sinatra) I've been to a few Brazilian steakhouses over the years, but I'm not really sure I've ever been to a full-blown real deal Brazilian restaurant before we had lunch at Boteco do Manolo yesterday. I say "real deal Brazilian" because the restaurant chain has 12 locations in Brazil, concentrated in Rio de Janeiro shopping centers. The Framingham location is one of the seven located in the U.S. Our server was a young man from Brazil, and since it was our first visit, he spent a lot of time going through their large menu. The restaurant serves family style portions (which are quite large), regular sized portions, appetizers, meat/chicken/seafood entrees, pasta and rice dishes, and a lunch menu. We both went to the lunch menu and ordered a special at $19.90 each. I went with the Peixe Grelhado (Grilled Mahi-Mahi Filet in a caper-butter sauce) served with a mountain of mixed vegetables, white rice and black beans. Seriously, that was a lot of food and much too much for a lunch, so half of it sits in my refrigerator as we speak. There were bottles of olive oil, olive oil with hot peppers, and Tabasco on the table, plus packets of mayonnaise. Those hot peppers nestled in the oil caught my eye, so I cautiously sprinkled some on my plate, and I was glad I was so cautious because it was damned hot (but yummy). My wife ordered the Frango Com Salada (Grilled Chicken Breast with salad) served with white rice, pico de gallo, and black beans. After we ordered, Alex came back to our table and said the lettuce intended for the salad didn't pass his inspection, so he offered us a different side order. We ordered French Fries instead. My fish and my wife's chicken were excellent. They were good-sized portions that were well seasoned and well cooked. My rice and beans were very good and that big pile of vegetables really went well with that volcanic pepper oil. Club soda was a very reasonable $2, so our big lunch ran $42 before tip with plenty of leftovers. If you're ever in the mood to enjoy, or try Brazilian food, travel to Framingham if you can't make it to Rio de Janeiro!

They had a hot food station and a separate meat station, with pricing based on whether your plate consisted mostly of sides or meat. I believe if your plate was mostly sides or mixed it was around $14 per pound, with a higher price for plates consisting mostly of meat. There was no all-you-can-eat option, which I found a little surprising. I think offering that would be a great addition to the menu. The hot food selection was decent overall, but some of the items weren't as warm as they should have been, especially considering they were sitting on a heated buffet station. The food tasted good, but I wish it had been served hotter. For the meat, I tried the tri-tip and top sirloin. Both were okay, but neither really stood out. They could have used a little more seasoning and flavor. They weren't bad by any means, but I've definitely had better. Pricing was reasonable, though. A standard-sized plate came to around $19, which I don't consider expensive for this type of meal. They also had some desserts that looked tempting, although I didn't get a chance to try any. Overall, it was an okay experience. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really wowed me either. If I lived in the area, I might give it another try, but since I don't visit often, I probably wouldn't make a special trip back. There's some potential here, but a few improvements to the food temperature and flavor could make a difference.

The meat was good, although some of it was a little too salty for my taste. There was a good…read morevariety of options at the buffet, but unfortunately, the food on the buffet was cold. If you don't speak Portuguese, you may have a language barrier with the staff, as not all are fluent in English. This is more part of the fun, though-- you feel as if you are in Brazil for an hour or two. Much of the clientele appear to be regulars who all know each other and greet each other on the way in. Definitely a neighborhood-y place. We drink caipirinhas every chance we get, and I would say they have the best caipirinha of any restaurant or bar in the greater Boston area. The only negative things I have encountered there were: once one of two containers of rice at the buffet was dry and crunchy, and one meat (beef with garlic) was fairly tough and gristly. But the number of other good foods we've had there easily outweighs these small things, and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Tropical Cafe.

The steak was dry and tasteless, the chicken was good and the sausage ok although they had no mustard. The rice was dry and the beans tasteless. The plantains while charred were pretty good and saved the dinner but All and all disappointing The house beer was a bargain and the flan generous and good The fried chicken was all bones and about ready to be served to animals. They replaced it thankfully . Other sausage dinners were also very ordinary. I would not be in a hurry to go back and if so will make sure they are offering Rodizio. Ps Music hadn't started but they seemed to have a cover for that.

Sabor De Minas 240 Howard st…read moreNo website, can order through all the usual apps. So I've legit driven by this restaurant every day for the last 4 years, I've walked by it almost as much. First off the two older women working didn't speak English, not to worry three customers were there to help me through this. The menu board wasn't working and they don't have printed menus. Also FYI their menus across the apps are not consistent either. Regardless thanks to my new friends I chose what to order and decided to stay there to eat. Not much seating but a very small cozy place to enjoy a meal. *Bife Acebolado - Beef and Onions, large. Wow! Seasoned exceptionally well both the steak and onions. I believe they murdered a cow just for my meal as it was three very large thin steaks with a good sized onion. It was to die for. I could eat that every day and not get sick of it, it stayed moist the entire time as well adding to the savory satisfaction. *Beans, Rice and Pasta - this comes with the large dinner, yes I got two plates for my one dinner. Someone must be thinking I lost too much weight these last few months. Beans and rice have something I can't put my finger on but I'm going to declare them the best beans and rice in the city, meet me at the flag pole at 3 if you wanna fight about it. The pasta as well had a familiar flavor but it's not what I'm thinking. Very much a Goya Adobo red top flavor, if you don't know what I'm talking about you need some culture and Puerto Rican neighbors. I know it's their blend of seasoning but that's what it reminded me of and then the coarse chopped pork belly in with it. Italians done pasta wrong Sabor De Minas can teach them a thing or two. The other stuff on the plate is cabbage which was neither here nor there I mixed with just about everything. *Pastel De Carne - ground beef deep fried almost empanada. I do believe they are using crack oil to deep fry this. They could have just handed me the fried dough and I wouldn't have complained at all. The ground beef was nice but needed more to it, I used the no name orange hot sauce they had. I didn't even finish half of what I ordered so I have enough for two more meals at least out of this. As you can see from the price this place is a legit local gem. Since I left I've been debating and I'm going to say that I now have a new favorite restaurant in the city. Between the price and food this is going to be hard to beat. As I sat there enjoying my dinner watching the local community come in and out and chat with the ladies I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. It felt like this was that small hometown place where everyone goes on Friday and gets a great meal at a great price. I'm beyond surprised at this place and like I said it's my new favorite so I guess I need to get back on Babel and start up those Portuguese lessons again!

The quality of the meat regarding temperature and seasoning was average. This restaurant has not been around for a very long time so I will give this one another chance down the road. Parking was average but the prices doesn't reflect the quality of food you would expect from a restaurant that claims that it's a Brazilian steakhouse.
