I'm writing this review as I sit here waiting endlessly for our server to return with our check. This, after never being offered another drink, waiting forever to order our food, and realizing we're going to be paying way more than we should for basic, not really remarkable in any way, food. It shouldn't be this hard to get decent service or a decent meal, and this restaurant fails miserably at both. They get the second star solely bc the food was cooked correctly and was "decent". read more

Decent eatery along busy Route 1 in North Attleborough. North Attleborough is one of the few places that is congested with chain restaurants and independents. In my opinion, it's a real benefit of the area and is convenient to find the perfect option for dining, if you are in the area, rather than something you aren't totally excited about. Box Seats sits in a "historic" building on Route 1 (East Washington Street), right by the Elm Street intersection. When you walk in, the dining room is on the left and the bar is on the right. Restrooms are straight ahead. Decor is kept up to date, and seems like a "sports bar". They've got tons of intriguing and cool things to look at throughout the restaurant. Definitely decorated well for a sports bar / restaurant. My only complaint about the inside of this place is the size of the booths in the dining are of the restaurant. Now I don't want to be cramped, but then again, I don't want too much space. I went to this place with three other people, and we had way, way too much space. We couldn't even eat without leaning over because the table was so far away from the seat of the booth. Sort of disappointing and not the most comfortable. -1 star But, the rest of this place is great. They have a complimentary counter with bread and soup, you can personally get yourself (for those lazy folks, this may not be so attractive), as well as an eventful dessert menu to compliment your meal (sort of weird that you can't get these on to-go orders though...). The main sections on the menu consist of soup / salads, burgers, subs, pastas, seafood, pizzas, and "Grand Slam" meals (the best of the best). Some highlights I found in the menu were the clam strip roll, chicken parmesan, meatball sub, and the MVP burger. I anticipate coming back and trying out more, as the MVP burger was great during my first visit. Filling, good sized burger with a more-than-generous amount of french fries. Waitresses are friendly, helpful, and the one I had was doing a wonderful job training a newbie. I watched and witnessed all of the good tips she had. Great to see good people at working at places like this..... I have no worries about incorrect orders or any other issue. 4 stars for Box Seats. My boyfriend and I dined here last night and it was great! What really stood out was the service, we had Diana as our waitress and she was super personable and attentive we will definitely be back based on her customer service alone!! The food was really good, they have a soup bar that comes with the meal. We had potato skins for the appetizer and you could tell it was freshly made non frozen. For the entrees we had steak tips and shrimp scampi both tasted great and were generous portions. We would for sure recommend this restaurant. Thanks again Diana!!!! read more

Came here a while ago, with a coupon that must have gone out to local residents. Sub-par is the easiest way to put it. The complimentary bread and soup, while a nice touch, are nothing special. I played it safe with a burger and figured a sports bar can't really mess that up. My favorite burgers are medium and juicy, with a nice sear on them, but this one was a bit dry and more on the charred side. North Attleboro isn't a gold mine of placed to eat, but there are quite a few better places around the area. I see no reason to go back and try anything else. read more

Have you ever walked into a restaurant and felt as though is was a mistake from the get go? The complimentary soup was less to be desired. Chicken and rice in a bland tomato broth, and not a lot of veggies. The other option sounded delicious, but the corned beef and cabbage was all broth. My husband and I thought it just needed to be refilled, but the waitress informed us "that's just how that soup is"...really? A cup of disappointment. The soup, lack of customers for a Saturday night, and previous reviews made me weary to eat the seafood/meats. So I ordered the potato skins (which were decent but deep fried), and my husband had a Ruben (which he said mediocre as well). The waitress was friendly, and quick with our drink refills. I live very close to Box Seats - so we have had many a meal here. Of all the meals we've had, none of them have been memorable and almost all of them have been a hassle, but, options are limited in this town. Even the times I've ordered take out have been terrible! I show up at the time they quote me, and I end up waiting around for 10-15 minutes more. I gave it one more shot last night after the local Mexican restaurant was too packed for my liking - never again! I should have just gotten fast food or something. Our waitress was nice, but absent most of the visit. I ordered chicken marsala, and my man-friend got the baked haddock. We were there for nearly 40 minutes before our food arrived. The meals of everyone in our section arrived before ours, and, might I add, it was not very busy at all! The waitress never refilled our drinks, nor did she check back to see how our food was. Annoyingly, she was cleaning up and walking around in front of our table practically the entire time. If she had come back, I would have politely requested at least some parmesan to give the bland marsala some life! It had almost no mushrooms, and the chicken was pre-cut into gross-looking cube shapes (with some hard bits in them, which was disgusting). The haddock was overcooked, as well as the "fresh steamed vegetables" that accompanied it. Completely a waste of money! My marsala was $13, and the haddock was $12. Imagine what I could have gotten at the grocery store for that much money... Such a disappointment! North Attleboro could really use some great locally-owned and operated restaurants. We loved the Box Seat in Smithfield so we tried the one in North Attleboro tonight. What a sad disappointment. Can I say thank god for the 15% check-in coupon. It made the night a bit less sour. Food was okay. Between a plate of fries with whole belly clams (see what I did there?) And a steak tips n chicken combo ( 1,50$ for a sorry excuse as a salad which isn't considered a side so they can stick the extra fee) I was disappointed, food was okay, atmosphere was eh, ac was on too cold, service was alright but I didn't feel the love. So disappointing. We came back to try under new ownership and it may even be worse than before. First, the avocado in the salad was not ripe and chicken not very good. Second, while we were eating, at a little past 8, they were vacuuming the entire room right next to us and around us. In the back you can hear the entire wait staff and cooks being very loud. Stay away from the bar on Tuesdays. Tried this place two times. Aside from the food reminding me of the cafeteria from my catholic school days, the bartender seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but here. He used bleach to clean up while I was still eating my food and then decided to blast the news while there were at least 12 patrons still in the bar. I couldn't even hear my date who was sitting less than 2 feet away. There are much better places in time. Don't bother coming here. read more

we went with another couple, on their recommendation, and i enjoyed it. My favorite part was the soup and bread bar...you can just go up and help yourself. And being a carb-o-holic i loved the bread. it was great. the rest of the food was ok...not amazing but not overall dissappointing. the onion rings are very good. I got a fajita chicken salad that came in a giant taco shell. the chicken tasted a little funny and wasnt really "fajita" style. but the shell was good :) the others all got burgers...the fav was the Backyard BBQ burger. While some could say this is just an average sports bar/restaurant, I was very pleased with this restaurant. My wife has celiac disease and the staff treated her condition seriously. They were very informative on what she could have safely. Fried calamari and onion rings!!! There are not many places out there that offer this GF! We will be back!!! read more

We're not typically in this area very often, so we stopped to eat here on a whim. The place was cozy. The service and friendliness of their staff was terrific. Our waiter was attentive, plus some how we struck up a banter with another waitress that passed by us several times. She was terrific. They had a small bread and soup station that was included with the meal that was a nice touch. I had the prime rib and my husband had the bolognese. Both were good. We left feeling satisfied and happy. We'd definitely would go again! By the way they also have a separate gluten free menu. read more

I was really excited to hear they had a huge gluten-free menu. However, I wasn't very impressed. I ordered the gluten-free fish and chips substitute the chips for sweet potato fries. The server brought me my fish with regular fries but quickly brought me the correct sweet potato fries. The fish was very good! The regular fries were steak fries straight from a frozen bag. The sweet potato fries were crispy, but were also from a bag. It was $14.50 for this which is pretty high for bagged fries. My 15-month old wasn't impressed with his cheese ravioli either. The kid's meal was $5.99 which was also a little high. A few minutes into the meal the server brought him french fries. I don't know if they actually came with the meal because I ordered quickly so he wouldn't fuss. The cheese ravioli were the size of the palm of my hand. It was a bit difficult to feed him. I cut it up into small pieces and it was watery and fell apart immediately. He only wanted a few bites and then opted for his milk bottle. I probably would have given this place two stars, but I do love that they have a gluten-free menu. It is very difficult to eat at most restaurants when you can't have gluten or dairy. My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch yesterday. The two soups were home made and excellent. Had a burger, which was great and their fries are fried with a very thin tasty batter. The Apple Crisp, with ice cream and carmel topping was delicious. I saw a complaint about bartender/wait person Helen and I have to totally disagree. She's not a goody-goody phony, but a delightful character, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed her. Wow! This place is under new management. They've redone the entire inside and stepped up the quality of food on the menu tremendously! My husband and I stopped in tonight not knowing what we were going to order. We decided on the burgers since they were well described on the menu. They did not disappoint!! I ordered the cowboy burger and my hubs ordered the MVP. Both were cooked to medium perfection! 8 oz. of fresh Ground Angus (not frozen) topped with mushrooms, bacon, onion rings, lettuce, tomato and bbq. Loved it! They also offer you complimentary soup and bread with every meal. Delicious! In the past I've had the cobb salad, that was fresh and delicious as well. not too bad. I had the Cuban sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich had good flavor, with a nice hint of spicy heat. The fries were a nice alternative to regular potato fries. Only downside was the price.. a tad on the pricey side at $11.50. Wife had the MVP burger. She said it was pretty good. Kids got a cheeseburger and tenders/mozzarella stick meals.. The kids burger was a good sized burger, while the other meal consisted of a few good sized tenders and a couple of cheese sticks. Both had a good helping of fries. decor is all sports... walls are loaded with tons of sports pics. Service was ok. Waitress could've been a bit more attentive, but not the worst I've seen. Somehow I keep coming back here and each time I'm not entirely sure why. Thee food is ok, the atmosphere is ok (though for a sports bar it's not terribly 'sporty'), and the service is perfectly acceptable. But when all is said and done nothing stands out and I leave feeling like I could have had a better dining experience just across the street at Quan's, or Red Stone, or pretty much anywhere in town. Sports bars should, in my opinion, feel like sports bars. Box seats feels more like a TGI Friday's knock off with more TVs and extra sports memorabilia on the walls.Only the food isn't quite as good. Prices are reasonable, and as I said the food and service are ok. I just can't get excited about any of it. Except for the occasions when I stumbled upon Karaoke night. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly waiter and hostess. They had a great sense of humor right of the bat, and we felt very welcome coming in. The aroma had a scent of warmed apple cider, and the bar area looked fun. We moseyed on over to the dining area, which is slightly outdated in decor (but maybe they are going for the industrial, quirky, mixed in with 90's style fabric wallpaper look). The gluten-free menu was extensive. I enjoyed the gluten-free pasta with grilled chicken and marinara. My husband had the tex-mex penne. He said his was a cool and interesting blend that he wouldn't have thought of. My chicken was slightly dry. Although dry, the waiter originally did make an upgrade from chicken tenders to chicken breast. The side dish of steamed vegetables for my son seemed fresh and flavorful. They seemed very attentive and accommodating here. We are so disappointed that apparently there is free soup and bread. The server mentioned the soup options, but never mentioned it was free! And yes, my friends, that makes a difference! We opted for a side salad. We will definitely go back, especially since it is a perfect stop after a day of shopping at Wrentham Outlets. I would say this place is as middle-of-the-road as it gets. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding. Unfortunately, that pretty much sums up the entire experience. I was there with my fiance' and some of her family and the general consensus was the nothing was great. The food was decent. Not great, not bad. Maybe it was just the gluten-free, but it seemed like everything was kindof bland. On that note, the complimentary onion soup wasn't good. it was basically just beef broth with barely-cooked cut onions in it. Wanted to try something different heard from a friend that worked there that they had a very big gluten free menu she was definitively right about that one of the biggest gluten free menus I have ever seen for a restaurant ordered the gluten free fish and chips which came with steak fries and coleslaw they had dedicated gluten free fryers which was great. It was pretty good however, I do think it could have been better it lacked something and I couldn't figure out what it was. I ate there with three other people there on Saturday. We were seated right away, nice table by the windows. We ordered two appetizers, the dozen Crab Cakes, and the Chicken Fingers, both gluten free as my daughter has mild celiac. When they came we had to re-ask for silverware, because the table had one serving for the four of us. The waiter came out and delivered the appetizers, and my daughter requested confirmation they were gluten free. He said they were not, and that she didn't ever ask for them to be. Instantly all four of us corrected him and he rechecked and supposedly the kitchen said they were indeed gluten free, but now that was in question in our minds. The crab cakes (really crab puffs would be a better name) were largely devoid of any crab taste, were mostly dough-filled, and worse...the chicken tenders were watery on the inside, a dead giveaway that they were frozen. We had Lasagna, which was very good and flavorful, and a decently sized portion, a burger/fries, Chicken Alfredo, and Fried Scallops with onion rings. Like a lot of restaurants that dont care if your onion rings taste like fish, they put the scallops right on top of the onion rings, effectively mixing them. The scallops were small (cut up or "punched" Sea Scallops) and quite medicocre and mushy, the burger was very good, the Chicken Alfredo was a large portion and also very flavorful. The waiter made seven seperate mistakes before our entrees came. He seemed disinterested, somewhat combative, and largely absent. He was, in a couple of words, an immediate candidate for a new profession. The chicken and lentil free soup was very, very tasty, but had little chicken in it, which could be becuase previous clients went fishing for it in the pot. (I know I do :) ). The free bread was fresh, but not high quality. Overall a fair to good eating experience ruined by a waiter who couldn't adequately perform his work. read more

This is one of our absolute favorite local spots and here's why: consistency, dependable customer service, a menu that suits everyone's needs, and convenience. We often end up here on Sunday nights when we don't have other dinner plans. A major plus, you get free bread and soup with every meal and the prices are definitely affordable. Their pasta salad (comes with most sandwiches) is out of this world; I have been trying to figure out their secret for over a year. I also adore the Spa Haddock. The bar is a cozy local spot. This is a dish I've ordered many times and has alwasy been fantastic. The last time I ordered it was a month ago. What I got served tonight was not what I expected. Not even close to the quality and portion size we are used to. I understand that times are hard but they are hard for everyone. Box Seats has, as far as I know, the most extensive gluten free menu around - and everything is SO DELICIOUS. I've had a few items from their free menu - TexMex pasta, fried seafood, their new Eggplant Parm and clam cakes. Nothing has that terrible "gluten free" flavor you'd expect. Every time I visit I am overjoyed by the fact that I can eat food just as good, if not better, than what those who don't have to worry about dietary restrictions eat. And to finish tonight's meal with strawberry shortcake and cheesecake, I honestly couldn't be happier. read more

I was with my 6 year old who wanted to go to McDonalds. We were nearby Box Seats so I decided let's get some "real food"! We ordered burgers. I ordered mine medium pink in the middle. It came out well done ! My server, who never did tell me her name, came by and asked how everything was. I told her my burger was over cooked. She simply walked away! We would have been better off going to McDonalds! Would have been cheaper and at least my granddaughter could have played with some kids instead of being bored stiff in that dreary atmosphere. read more

First off, I used to LOVE this place. I have a gluten & dairy allergy and box seats used to be very accommodating. Something has changed. My husband and I ate there last night. We both got violently ill after eating.. I couldn't even make it home before I got sick. I ordered the GF DF chicken tenders & GF steak fries. My hubby got the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. his dish was swimming in oil, it just didn't look right. I thought maybe I got glutened but my hubby doesn't have any allergies and he got very sick too. The service was absolutely terrible. Embarrassing, really. It took our waitress 25 minutes to greet us & take our order. It was impossible to get ahold of her.. we had to ask another waitress to call her over. The majority of the other wait staff were not even working- gossiping, sipping on soda, on their phones and twirling their hair, which should have been up in a pony tail. our drinks were left empty at the end of ur table for almost an hour. It wasn't even busy! it took us nearly TWO HOURS to get our dinner. TWO HOURS! when the tables near us came in way after us, and they ate and went before we even got a drink refill. my husband and I are still very sick from last nights dinner. Box seats used to have wonderful staff. But now I find they're mostly all rude and make me feel like a nag when I ask for things. The bartender with blonde hair made me feel this way the previous time we ate there. I asked for extra honey mustard like 4 times and she kept brining out the smallest container of it, and rolling her eyes when I asked for more. There is zero structure in this business. It seems like its fun time for everyone working there, not work time. I used to go to box seats a few times a month. I will NEVER return after the terrible experience my husband and I had. First time diner after seeing such good reviews online. Very basic pub food menu so we gave it a go for a Sunday late lunch. Arrived around 3/330 and you could tell they just got done with their lunch pop. Which is totally fine but the bartender was still not put back together. Took atleast 5 minutes to be acknowledged at the bar, finally gave drink order, had to ask for menus but when my mother came back from the restroom she didn't greet her or give her a menu as she was handing 2 menus to me and my dad. Was given the wrong beer, again no worries I'll drink it anyways but just annoying. Still weeded and there's 15 people in the whole place. Everyone has empty drinks waiting to order more but she was so frazzled. Whatever. Ordered lunch and I got the Chicken tip dinner. Basically just unbreaded chicken tenders, no sauce, no sour cream for the baked potato. Just a very lame lame dish. Had to ask for silverware. Not trying to be rude but the bartender was just lacking any sort of multitasking skill or even simple bartending skills. Will probably not be back. read more

Tha chowder came out first and was cold. Sent it back and it came back after being microwaved for way too long. Clam cakes were inedible. Salad was the only decent meal of 4.
