Today was my first trip to Subaru Service anywhere. I chose Bowser because it was closer to my home. No appointment (my bad!) but they have Express Service. What a great experience!! - Big thanks to Mike Zuro. and Ryan S.. Mike explained the repairs and time-frame, and found a problem I'd forgotten about. This was the first time I didn't have to argue with a service department about a warranty - the Bowser staff gladly reminded ME that I was covered. How refreshing! No wonder all the folks seemed relaxed in the customer lounge (which was VERY CLEAN & comfortable). This is what good customer service looks like. I'll be back for sure! I scheduled an oil change and as usual, the employee comes with a list of necessary repairs. I was told that the serp belt was going to "snap at any moment" and that the person informing me of this was shown to it by the technician because it was in such poor condition and was dangerous. I denied the nearly $1,000 worth of suggested repairs since I only came for an oil change. When I left, I called my stepdad, concerned with the severity which Bowser presented these issues. Within a few hours my car was being inspected by a local mechanic who denied the need for every one of Bowser's suggestions. In fact, the belt that was on the verge of snapping I was told was in fine condition and the original lettering on it was still visible and that the mechanic "would not hesitate to drive to California" with my car as it was. He also noted that the air cleaner for the engine wasn't put back together correctly after I left Bowser. Very dishonest and deceptive business. read more

I went here on the recommendation of my hairdresser. When I arrived a greeter directed me to the Impreza model which would most suit my needs. A salesman came up to me shortly and showed me the floor model which was a completely souped up hatchback. I asked to see a sedan. He took me for a ride up this circular hill and asked me a few questions. I told him for the time I was shopping around to get ideas for what would work best for me. Once we got to the top of the hill we got out and he had me look the various models out alone-mind you to see what I liked. I don't know much about this car and with the exorbitant sticker prices along with such a vast price range, I could not tell what set each one apart. I finally choose a cheaper model just to see if I could look at it and test drive it. He told me he would get the keys and return. He told me to meantime look around and see if anything else caught my eye. I was left up there by myself for at least 15 minutes! I decided "enough of this place." I struggled down the hill with my bum knee and worked my way to the entrance to complain. No one was at the desk. First impressions tell a lot to a potential customer and regardless of the quality of this vehicle this is not the place I would even consider buying one. Please note this dealership sells other makes as well so be aware of that fact should you decide to look here. They will never see my face again. read more

Amongst the worst customer service experiences, their service department is a total joke. I used their online scheduling system which says "Use this service scheduler to plan your next visit, whether it's for a routine checkup or something simple like an oil change, or a more involved repair that might need to be planned ahead of time." Their online system said it would need two days advanced notice, I gave them 12. The morning that I supposed to bring my car in they called and said that they couldn't do the repair, wouldn't be able to do it until July at the earliest and blamed me for the problem because I didn't call to make my appointment.... what a joke. The salesman (Craig) who assisted my parents in purchasing a car was professional and made the experience pleasant. No haggling, no gimmicky payment structures. We came in having the car we wanted in mind, being willing to accept the price tag as was, and having the payment structure already in mind. Took it for a brief drive, were satisfied, and worked out the purchase. He showed us the basics of the car operation and got it cleaned up and we were in our way. Traveling from Lancaster County, PA, my oil light kept going on and off. I knew I had just had an oil change because I had taken my Impreza to my local dealer for an engine valve recall in June. My son-in -law called Saturday AM and Matt told him to have me bring it in. I dropped it off around 10AM (it was obviously crazy busy), and it was ready to go by about 3. My car has an extended warranty but they didn't even charge me for motor oil. It's stressful when your car has issues anytime, but when you're out of town it can be a nightmare. Bowser and Matt took good care of me, even better than my home dealer has in the past. I will definitely see them when I'm ready to buy my next Subaru after I retire and move to this area. We had a great experience at Bowser and I walked away with the exact car I wanted. Our salesman, Chad, was a dream to work with. I was in the market for a Crosstrek, and like so many lots, Bowser didn't have the exact trim level and color I wanted. Chad was able to quickly tell me when the next one was coming in. He was communicative but did not pressure me while I finalized selling my other car through a different business. The car arrived a week early and Chad made sure things were set up for me to pick up my new car later that day. There was no haggling or last minute switch ups--the financing and price were exactly as expected. He even went above and beyond to make sure the crossbars I wanted to purchase were available and loaded into our car before a left. I tried numerous times to schedule an appointment for my brand new cross trek. The engine is raving high and the CarPlay doesn't always work. I left 3 messages. No one including the owner returns my calls. I booked an appointment on line. The system overbooks appointments so Bowser will not honor the appointment I made on line. read more

Let's face it. No one likes car repairs. There are zillions of other ways we want to spend our money but we all know that our cars require routine maintenance and upkeep. Today, I needed new rear breaks. I needed some other stuff too but the other stuff could wait. How did I know this? Because of the honesty of the folks at Bowser Subaru. Specifically, Mike Zuro is like the brother/son I always wished I had. He softens the blow with what needs to be done by making sure I have all of the available coupons and then he helps me put in to perspective what can wait and what cannot wait. Breaks can't wait so today, I have new breaks. I also got some other important to dos accomplished because of the generosity and kindness of Carl, the courtesy driver who carted me to the place where I had to be while my car was being repaired. I always know that I am being told the truth and even shown the truth by the kind technician specifically showing me the wear and tear/cracks. I've been a customer since 2007 and I don't think I would buy anywhere else. They are easy to work with on the buying process. They are informative and helpful without applying pressure. Wonderful! I will only take my Subaru here. I have lived in many states and tried many dealerships ( GA,NC,SC,VA) and will drive my car back to PA to bowser for any service. They only lost 1 star because their car wash never really cleans my car, it always comes back still dirty. But the service and actual knowledge here is great. They really work with you on whatever issue you are having and are flexible. And they always provide shuttle service, complementary bottled water, coffee, good and nutritious snacks. read more

The problems with Bowser services are many. Twice I tried to take the car in for inspection and they keep giving new reasons as to why it fails before it even gets pulled into the shop. The Subaru service center has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. It's pretty obnoxious to stand and wait unacknowledged while two employees finish their conversation. Especially when one of them appears to be the manager. I worked in customer service for almost 12 years. I understand that it may have been a very important conversation, but at the very least, acknowledge your customer and say something like, I'll be right with you...ect,. It is incredibly rude to make said customer stand there and wait for 5 minutes. Even though this location is very convenient for me, I will not be back. read more

5 Stars for the Bowser Subaru Service Team - have had my 2011 Impreza in 3 times. Twice for recall work and a rattling heat shield and once for what I thought was a coolant leak. Turned out the coolant leak was nonexistent and was probably coming from another car in the driveway. No leaks, so they topped off my fluids and didn't charge me a dime. We've been looking at the new Subaru Outbacks and Foresters online in order to determine which will best serve our needs. We drove to Bowser Subaru today to compare the two models in person. The visit turned out to be rather strange. We arrived at approximately 12:15 PM and I don't recall seeing any other customers on the outdoor lot at that time. We looked at cars outdoors for a while and during that time, we saw three persons walk by that appeared to be employees. We went inside the showroom and saw about three more people behind or near the front desk. We proceeded to the left side of the showroom and looked at an Outback and a Forester for quite a while. We noticed a few people in adjacent side offices while we looked at those cars. The strange part of our visit was that no one ever made any attempt to speak to us - no "hello", smile, or other acknowledgement of presence. I appreciate low pressure sales techniques, but I felt like Bruce Willis in "Sixth Sense" today. This is surely an anomaly or no cars would ever be sold. In the end, our trip was not wasted as we saw what we needed to see. read more

I have been using the service department here at bowser for 4 years now with my subaru legacy. The service is excellent and has been quick and efficient with the work needed. I usually work with Mike Z. in the service department, and he has been great at fitting me in when needed and working around my work schedule. My car runs great and I never have any concern about the service, the work, nor expect to be taken advantage of with my limited knowledge of car maintenance. They always seems to do what is necessary, and do it well, so I can depend on my car at all times. Great work and great service. read more

This place is so bad I'd give it no stars if I could. I'm not even sure where to start. In 08' I went in to lease a car. Everything went smoothly at first. They had quoted me a price, so I go into sign the papers, and they tell me there was a problem with the number and the price has gone up, all be it slight. Understandably I wanted a minute to ponder over the idea of giving my money to this bait and switch operation. After a couple minuets I told them I'd still take it. That's when their finance manager began yelling and saying not to even lease me the car. I flipped out myself and left. The called me right after and sweetened the deal, so I went back and got the car. Here we are now, years later, after I not only leased a car from them, but also bought one. I take my car in for a bunch of stuff, most of they got finished that first day, a Thursday. However, they had to order a part. I was told it would be over-nighted, but if it didn't get there Friday the car would be done by Monday or Tuesday. That's one long over-night delivery. They call me Friday to say the part didn't come in, so now we are shooting for Monday. Well, Tuesday comes and goes without hearing a word from them. I call them Wednesday morning, and the first person I talk to can't even find any the info on my car. I finally get to talk to someone who knows the situation, and she tells me, "the part just got here today, so your car should be ready today. I'm called back a few hours later and am told it's ready, so I tell them I'm looking for a ride and I'll be there. What they didn't tell me, at 2 o'clock when I talked to them last, is that they close at 430. Therefore, I was rather upset when I arrived around 630 to find they were closed. That's just part of the horror story I have from this place. Probably the worst people I've ever dealt with on a professional level anywhere. Most of the employees also seem to treat the customers, specifically the older ones I've noticed, with an air of smugness and condescension. If you're looking for a Subaru I highly recommend you go elsewhere. Unless of course you like giving your money to people at the bottom of their field. read more
