Great atmosphere! Fish Tacos were AMAZING!!! And the bartender was super nice! Definitely would go back!

We decided to try out the new brunch menu that they recently added. First issue was, what time do they open. We showed up a little after 11 and doors were still locked. So we decided to grab some coffee down the street and then come back. We finally went in at 11:45 because we saw another table go in. We got greeted quickly, but that was the only thing that went quickly. Server took our drink order. Then it finally showed up ten minutes later. He said he would be right back to take our food order, but that wasn't the case. We were there so long before he finally took our order, at this point the patio was full. Food took forever to get there and was meh. Nothing awesome. Best thing was the toast, of that says anything. Never got more drinks because one server cannot handle all the patio. Overall, this place is not staffed enough to manage a Dallas brunch scene. I would save your time and money and just wait until they get the bugs out or hire more staff. read more

I'm not sure if this is par for the course in Dallas, but paying $7.50 per person for a game of bowling is obscene, especially on a Monday afternoon at 4pm. When we arrived, the place was absolutely dead, only one other lane was being used. The guy behind the bar informed us that there was a two game limit if there was a line waiting, but by the time we were done with our two games there was still nobody else in the place. Yet somehow this qualifies as "peak pricing". The lanes clearly aren't kept up well and no halfway serious bowler would ever want to play on them. They're fine if you're really drunk and just looking to knock some things over for a couple of bucks, but you're definitely not getting what you're paying for. Even worse are the balls...beaten, battered, and scuffed to hell and look like they've been around since long before the Big Lebowski debuted 20 years ago. As for the service, I asked the server what sour beers were available, and she stammered a bit before she said she wasn't sure. So yeah, it's not like the service is anything to flock to "Bowlounge" for either. Me and a friend bowled 2 games, I had one drink, and the total came to $50. I would normally pay $15 for that. Absolutely the worst part about my trip to Dallas, and I'm astounded that people actually frequent this place. I know I'll never be back. If you want to pay top dollar to be a hipster bowler with "vintage" lanes, "antique" balls, and "period" scoring system, while looking at pictures of The Dude on the wall, this is your place. read more

This place is using old bowling lanes from a bowling place in Longview, TX, so it's old school. There are only 12 lanes, but the space (bar area) is huge and they have windows for a lot of light to get in. I loved the space. They have grown up bars at the lanes and wait staff to keep your drinks a flowing. Deep Eddy Vodka and soda was $6, which seems a bit pricey, but whatevs. They have a great craft beer menu too! The bowling on Sunday is like $7 a game. You pay at the end. Even though I do not like Twisted Root burgers, I have to say some of the menu items sounded pretty good. Neighborhood: If you base a book by its cover, you won't think twice about this place when you see its surroundings, BUT this place has hella character. Parking lot is slightly small, but when you make it inside, you are immediately greeted with a wall of draft beers. Service: Bartender was super customer oriented. He asked our preferences and made suggestions off of that. The waitstaff that tended to us during our game never let us have an empty cup in front of us. Nice, no-frills bowling alley. They said they have 1950's vintage pinsetters on 1970's vintage lanes. Interesting, old scoring computers too. Music was mostly 80's, with some 90's/70's. Great beer selection. The daytime weekday prices are great. $5/game/person bowling, and $4 for 12oz draft craft beers. Common domestics were cheaper. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our server was able to answer questions on the beers, and had to help us a couple times with the scoring computer when we had to make a correction or whatnot. This looks like it would be a cool hangout place during more peak times, not during the apocalypse. Only reason for not rating 5 stars is the bowling during peak times (nights and weekends) is a bit more steep (7.25/game). They said waits can be really long too, as they only have 12 lanes. read more

Twisted fun! The food is great but you should know that from your time spent at the various Twisted Root joints. Brews offer up a good selection of Local, State and National suds. 10 lanes of bowling for hours of fun. No need to wait until the end of the night to strike out here. 2 coin opp pool tables at a buck a game are set to the side near the roll up door to the patio. No speakers in this section though. And speaking of Music the video wall rocks but the sound of balls on pins overshadow the 80s hair bands, Palmer Girls and girls who all they want to do is dance. This place is a blast from the past with retro themed bowling! Old screens, machines, lanes and rustic feel. It is a place you go primarily for socializing not if you like bowling. The lanes are not that great if you are a avid bowler, the prices are high and you can only be on the lanes for 2 games at a time if it is busy. Overall I liked it to start a night out if you are going to a bar afterwards or just wanting to have an innocent night with your buddies. Very cool atmosphere but poor experiences in both bowling and lounge areas.Got charged for 18 games when we played 12. Got the refund with a side of attitude. Then we went to eat and watch the game and our food had to come back out not twice but 3 times because apparently the kitchen has a different menu than the customer menu, so we kept getting sandwiches with everything we wanted to exclude and eventually had to write down exactly what we wanted because they couldn't read our order. Came here on a Friday night, which is of prime time. When we checked in, we were told there was potentially a 2 hour wait. There are only 10 or 12 lanes and they limit you to 2 games when it's super busy. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks from the menu inspired by The Big Lebowski. I was surprised that a bowling alley had such a vast array of drinks, bourbons, and a huge wall of beer taps. They also have 3 pool tables so we played a bit of pool. I think the wait was maybe an hour or a little more. The staff was all very nice and the vibe was cool. I will definitely come back, especially since I won both games! read more

We had such a good time. There are only a dozen or so lanes, so we had to wait and there was a two-game max to accommodate everyone, but it was plenty for us. I will caution that this is not the place for serious bowlers or anyone with skin in the game, because our first lane routinely miscounted the number of pins down. After reporting it, they switched us to a new lane and comped the game, so we were happy. Pool tables, bar food and happy hour deals make the place even more special. It's a great place to play a variety of game and hang out on a Sunday night or weekday! I gave it three stars because the things to do here are great! You can play darts, corn hole, ping pong, and other games for free! They also have pool for cheap and you can bowl (obviously). The reason I took two stars off is because their service is absolutely terrible. On a busy night, I can kinda understand for people be rude and service taking a while. We absolutely loved it! This was a date night choice by my husband and we had so much fun. Food was great and beer selection is on point. We went on a Saturday and The wait was about 45mins. The good thing is they have other activities while you wait (table tennis, darts, shuffle board, and pool.) Contrary to other reviews the staff was awesome. Our server was very attentive and fun. Had a work team event here. Pros: 1. It wasn't crowded, so we didn't have to wait and didn't have neighbors in the lanes on either side of us. 2. Staff was helpful when we asked for something. 3. Chicken nuggets are delicious. 4. Team had fun and is a favorite. 5. Back room has ping pong, darts, and couches. Cons: 1. Lanes have a lot of issues and we have to constantly ask for help (e.g. sometimes the pins don't sweep away or reset) 2. A lot of the bowling balls seem to have finger holes that are too small and several of the balls are in poor condition 3. Nachos are really sad - seriously, the worst I've seen anywhere... most of the chips had literally nothing on it 4. Bowlounge was so much fun! We stopped in on a Friday night, and it was a bit busy. It was expected, so we put our name in for a lane. We took a seat at a table near the bar, and ordered food and drinks while we waited. Unlike your typical bowling alley food, Bowlounge's food was really good! I ordered wings and the husband ordered the fish and chips. Both items were really good! The fries especially were tasty. 10/10 for sure with food! For drinks, they were good but a bit pricey. I had a smoked old fashioned, and it set me back about $15. About an hour later, we were called for a lane. The guy helping us out was great. He was funny and kept us engaged. He explained everything to us, including how there's an orange pin that rotates. If the pin is directly in the middle and you get a strike, you get a free drink! That thing came out at least 9 times for us! One of my friends got lucky and actually hit a strike with it! Free shot! During our 2nd game, the system took a dump on us. The lanes are from the 1960s, and the TVs on half of them are from the 90s. The guy was super nice and moved us since it was taking way longer to fix the issue. I thoroughly love the vintage feel. I am guessing this used to be an old gym. At around 5:30 on a Friday afternoon, a majority of the patrons here seemed to be upper-middle class workers coming straight from downtown - I could still see them in their work clothes. It was a nice view see. I've never been to a bowling alley without loud children and all those other types of people I prefer not to say...My date and I were dressed the same way, as we also came straight from work close by, but we changed! The major downside is that this place is so old, the lanes are probably uneven. I'm not blaming my bad bowling on the lanes, but I do know when a lane is lopsided or not. Compared with going to a more up-to-date bowling alley, the ball kept gearing off to the gutter - or may I am just bad. Had food there recently and decided to take a couple friends back to try it. The food was still great and kitchen staff was apologetic and friendly about the mixups. However, the bartenders were very rude. As a service industry worker it takes a lot a to post a negative review but the extremely slow service, bringing food dropped off from another table 15 minutes prior, eye rolling, speaking disrespectful to and about your customers within ear shot really earned it. To put it in perspective there probably wasn't 100 people in the place with at least 10 servers and bartenders yet the bare minimum of service couldn't be met. We arrived at Bowlounge on a Friday night at about 11pm. I had no idea that this place was even here. I hadn't heard anything about it, so I went into it with no expectations at all. This place was awesome! They told us when we arrived that the kitchen was closed (that was kind of a downer), but the bar was still up and running! The layout was great. There were multiple garage doors which opened up to ample patio space. In front of the giant bar was more seating space, and off to one side is a pool table area where they play videos projected onto a wall along with the music they play. There are about 12 lanes...all remade from old bowling alley parts, they still work though! I saw the menu, and it looked great...too bad that I didn't get a chance to try it. They do have a great option of local brews though. They had my favorite Velvet Hammer on tap, so I was good to go! Fortunately, for some reason, it wasn't crowded on that particular Friday night, but I see how it could get packed pretty easily. I wish that businesses that have advertised specials would either honor them or take them down. Please for the love of god just pick one. Bowlounge, like many local establishments, has ads for specials hung around their interior. Seeing a poster for $4 crown and down, souvenir pint glasses, and $4.95 bowling is usually a positive experience, since you're about to save some money (woo!), but on my visit, these Monday night specials were straight up fake-outs. One employee told us the specials were not valid and they just haven't bothered to take down the posters, which is honestly kind of infuriating. If you're going to leave ads up (e.g., inside the establishment, on a website, on a menu on the table), you have to be willing to honor those deals, period. It's like saying "no man, sorry that's not the REAL price" is a reasonable thing to do to your customers... ugh! I'm so sick of this trope in Dallas I didn't even bother asking the waitress to honor the advertised prices that she had already told us were archaic. Aside from the false advertising of specials, the space is really nice - open and airy.Overall it reminds me of little bowling alleys in Jersey where everyone knows everyone else and the snackbar only sells cheetos and chocolate bars (two of the least appropriate foods for bowling, which I always wished was them being ironic but in reality they were probably the only two things that were both shelf-stable and sold reasonably well). At Bowlounge, you can get more than a fountain soda with no ice and cheetos - you can get burgers, fried apps, salads, mixed drinks, beer, milkshakes, and even 'adult milkshakes'. I wasn't a huge fan of the specifics of their menu - no chicken sandwich or chicken-based finger food that didn't leave you encrusted in spicy buffalo sauce, but I think that people who like burgers (most everybody) would be happy. The chicken taco was fine, and relatively big for $3 but it was a bit bland. The buffalo chicken bites were buffalo-y for sure, but they looked like a small pile of chopped up red moose turds on the metal serving tray. It was unappetizing to say the least, and at $10 is not something I would order again. They have other things like pimento cheese and crackers for $4 which is an interesting app that can easily be shared amongst a big group, but beware it comes with bacon crumbles on top (which were not indicated on the menu). In general, I'm wary of menu descriptions, pricing, and any bowling specials that are advertised in any way here. The only way you'll really know how much something costs or what ingredients are in a menu item is to ask someone directly. Despite my recurring anger at the false advertising, I really liked Bowlounge and would definitely recommend it over the other more expensive and uppity spots Dallas has to offer. I hope they take those old Monday specials posters down and fix the errors of omission (bacon) and repetition (look at the description for the egg nog) on their menu so their customers can have an easier time getting what they want without surprises. p.s. Lane 9 has a bit of a lip on the right edge of the lane down near the pins so your ball might just stay in play even if it's veering wildly for the gutter! read more

If you like a vintage style bowling experience this is the place to be with old school CRT monitors that display in 8bit, with the old school bowling consoles to input information. Food looked great and so did the bar area. I came to only bowl, and did so for 2 games with my girlfriend with a shoe rental, and received my bill for $36(no food, no drinks). Thought I found a cool little hole in the wall spot, outside of uptown to do a little bowling and food at, but isn't the case with pricing! Def has uptown pricing for drinks and food, and not really uptown. I'm a firm believer in supporting small and local business, but not at a price like I paid last night, when I can go to a huge chain with modern lanes and tech and pay less. Two stars because I don't know that it's their fault that Dallas creates high expectations for us. The retro decorations are fun. And the ice cream cart with bells on it very cool! Put this place in a small town it would be a hit. But not worth the hassle when there are SO MANY better options for food and bowling in Dallas. I got the burger basket. And it was dry and plain. Wouldn't order it ever again. Fries were not good. Very much a frozen French fry that seemed to be sitting under a heat lamp too long before it got to us. Both orders were like this. Thankfully Nothing ranch and ketchup couldn't mask. I also got a carnitas taco and that was outstanding. They only put one corn tortilla and a lot of meat/filling. I would put two tortillas. Because the moment we touched our tacos they fell apart in our hands. We saw someone get a salad and the salad was huge!! We ordered two burgers to go. The mushroom one and the big tex. We learned our lesson on the fries and got house chips instead. Smart move. Because the guys we took them to really enjoyed them. Tried to reserve a spot 13 days in advance on a weekday during off peak hours for 10 to 13 ppl and was given a packet of information (which seemed more like rules than fun) and was told we would be given max two lanes. Unfortunately, what I was trying to schedule as a fun outing for my work folks was turning into the dos and don'ts of their facility. Just my opinion. I get it you're running a business and you have to put structure in place. Just make it a little more friendly. I will have trouble referring business to this location in the future.
