The Private Equity Ensh!ittifcation is Real A group of friends and I went to Bowlero for a night of fun. On the way over, I was excited, but I left the venue feeling somewhat ripped off. Bowling has shifted from an affordable, casual pastime to a premium, entertainment-focused experience, with prices rising substantially in recent years. Firstly, the layout of the bowling alley has changed (at least at the Wheat Ridge location). Gone are the benches you might be accustomed to at each lane. Instead, there are tables near-ish the lanes, laid out in a zig-zag fashion. As you can imagine, some tables are closer to the lanes than others, and when we arrived another group was at our assigned table because it was closer to their lane. I don't fault the group at all - they just sat down close to their lane, but this system makes it problematic for people who just want to enjoy their night. The server ended up having to move two tables as a result, because... everyone was at the "wrong" tables near their respective lanes. The bench layout was much better in my opinion. No confusion. It makes little sense why they decided to get rid of those. Secondly, the service was meh. There was definitely a shortage of servers, and it took very long to receive anything that was ordered. I don't fault our sever for this. Rather, I fault management for not staffing properly. Typical corporate/PE playbook. Thirdly, playing two games cost me roughly $60 (for games + shoe rental + tax). If your birth year starts with a 1, then you probably scoffed at this amount. I certainly did. Don't even bother reserving a lane ahead of time, as it's even more expensive. It's also worth noting that the food (typical mediocre bowling alley food) and beverages are not cheap... All in all, bowling used to be inexpensive and fun. Now it's only slightly fun. Lucky Strike Entertainment is buying all the bowling alleys, slapping a new coat of paint on the buildings, and then tripling the prices. The rampant pursuit of profits over everything really makes me dislike bowling. I probably will not visit a Bowlero again in a very, very long time. read more

My friends and I were trying to find a place to bowl on a weekday and went to 2 different places before calling this Bowlero and asking them if they had lanes open for people who were not in a league. The person on the phone said that if we were there within the next hour, we could bowl. We were only 9 minutes away and when we arrived, they said they had no lanes available. The people at the desk were very rude (which I have seen as a trend in their reviews). Since this is a chain, I highly suggest you go to any of the other many, many Bowleros where you don't have to deal with this staff. read more

Bowling on Thursday afternoon and needed something to drink. Went up to concession stand and the grumpy cook told us we had to order from the bar. Walked to the bar and no one was there. Waited a few minutes, still no one. Went to front counter-- no one. Saw others go to the bar, no one to serve them. Husband heard noise from the game room and found the 2 female staff members playing air hockey! He asked if anyone was working the front counter or the bar. The lady asks him, which one do you need? He said both! It took them a few minutes to move their buttons to their stations. Boys were waiting to get a lane, people left without a refill on drinks. I went to my car and got a bottle of water. We would especially like to recognize Cale, Brittany, Dillon, Tiffany, Bean, and Tim (Manager). While this establishment was being remodeled, which was not welcomed by most bowlers, Tim and his team proved to show their ability to work through unforeseen challenges and collaborate well with each other. It was impressive and showed exceptional critical thinking skills and a true dedication to the company. Tim's leadership showed throughout the bowling alley and because of this, the employees handled this well with true dedication and outstanding customer service. When Tim is not available Brittany steps up and takes command with true friendliness, dedication and a helping hand. We don't want to forget the servers, food preparers, and bartenders. These folks have all responded promptly, and have always lent a helping hand when needed. This is not the efforts of just one individual, it's about the entire team. This team works cohesively and functions effectively to successfully reach their goals. The entire team's ability to work through unforeseen challenges is impressive and shows exceptional skills and a true dedication to Bowlero. Each and every one of these people add to this smooth running bowling alley. I regularly come to this location (once a month), and the space is consistently clean, the staff delivers excellent service, and the environment is enjoyable. The music sets a fun tone - if I'm not bowling I'm probably dancing, and they offer a handful of deals throughout the week for bowling. Sunday night is $5 games after 8! I'm a regular bowler at this location and last Friday I was there visiting my friends for a moment on the Friday night league , I was there about 30 minutes and left my purse on a hook next to my friends opponents for that evening. Somehow I forgot my bag and left . The nice people asked around and brought my bag up to the front desk and handed it to the GM Tim . He took my bag for safe keeping and put it in his office. I know is this because other employees were kind enough to tell me . Sometime that evening , An employee at Bowlero went into the office and stole my purse and everything in it . I came into the bowling alley the next day and asked a WHOLE bunch of questions. Everyone knew it was turned in and in Bowlero custody , and everyone knew it was now missing . I think the worst part is the way Tim the GM handled the situation. He completely lied to my face , was uncaring and pretty much treated me like it was no big deal and he could care less . I'm mean what it wrong with people . When employees steal from your patrons at least act like you care and at least try to help out your loyal customers. I get a bowling alley manager is not your dream job - but come on . Care when your staff steal from the people who support the business. It was definitely a crime of opportunity and I'm so disgusted at this place and the way adults handle situations. I filed a report with the PD so hopefully it works in my favor. They charge per person, per game, and a shoe rental fee per person. It was 140$ for 4 people to bowl three games. This isn't including food. The food was my son said it tasted like pizza from school. We had such a blast but made a reservation and surprise charges of 14% "event fee" only bc we made the reservation was frustrating. Especially when you're paying that fee on the drinks you order. Deals start at 8, we were put in a waitlist for about almost 2 hours. Priority league games take up most of the place, but when they leave, they don't fill those lanes, so we're stuck waiting even though there's open spaces. The 18 year old manager screamed at us they don't take reservations after we had already made our reservations. They are very pricey. Four lanes were being used, as in four separate parties or families were bowling and they grouped us all together. It was fine for us until the family came next to us that clearly had never bowled before. Their kids kept using our balls and grabbing any ball. The group on the other side were a bunch of 20 somethings more interested in drinking. The staff had the ability to space us all out but chose not to. My family and I decided to start a new tradition and booked Bowlero for New Years Eve. Bowlero's website advertised a $20.99/person NYE ticket which included 2 hours of bowling, shoe rentals, some food (chips, chicken tenders, a pizza, cookies), champagne/apple juice toast, and a $10 arcade pass. We thought this sounded like a good price and I booked four tickets for NYE. I did not receive a total before putting in my credit card info, which I now realize was a huge mistake. You can imagine my surprise when going through my credit card statement to see a $234 charge from Bowlero. I was expecting about $84 (20.99 x4) + taxes. I called and went through a phone tree to find out that there is an event fee for about $33. I did not have a huge problem with that charge because the value of the event was worth it. But I also found out that I was charged $97 for drink tickets (15 DRINK TICKETS!!!) I did not purchase or use. We bought ~$60 of booze at the bar because we did not buy drink tickets. I have been in communication over phone and email to get this refunded to no avail. A representative explained that the contracts always go into the spam box. I will update my review if they are able to correct the mistake. The bowling itself was fun, it's a good event for a family. The staff that night was in good spirits, the shoes were not too beat up. But this is a warning about getting a total cost up front, not using the online booking site, and the poor ethics of this business. read more

This is a pretty nice bowling alley with a few arcade games. None of the old classics but some new ones that are decent. The games are somewhat limited so don't count on kids being occupied for more than maybe an hour. The game credits and ticket winning system is all digital which is nice and convenient. We got a groupon for a game card and with that deal, I felt comfortable with what we spent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bowling was a little pricey but it was Saturday and the prices were well-documented. Food is mediocre at best but what should you expect at a bowling alley?
