Wow, this place went downhill in a huge way. I was disappointed last year when I was sent for a scan of my lower calf due to a possible blood clot. The results sent to my doctor basically said they couldn't get a good scan. What? They couldn't tell that at the time of the scan? They sent some poor result due to an inept tech or whatever to my doctor- ?? Why even bother. My doctor sent me there to gather more info. Now I was trying to schedule a routine basic screening mammogram which my doctor sent over a referral along with another request (separate procedure) for a different scan. Bowes said now the mammogram would have to be a 'diagnostic' ( much high cost that your insurance won't cover the whole procedure) because of the 2nd referral. Those were two different procedures. There is no reason that my mammogram needed to be bumped from 'routine' to 'diagnostic' because of the 2nd referral. Speaking of referrals, go to Sarasota Memorial instead. You can book your own mammogram without a referral and they have a program for uninsured women to get a mammogram. I will be scheduling at SMH from now on. Bowes has just turned into another storefront insurance billing quack practice like so many other medical outfits in Florida. read more

I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I made an appointment over a week and half ago for a Cat Scan. The parking is ridiculous! Checked in and filled out all the forms. After a few minutes of waiting, I was told that their CT machine cannot do my Cat scan because I have metal C clamps for a vasectomy, but I could drive to Bradenton an hour away through all the traffic. I called Sarasota Memorial Hospital Blackburn facility near me and spoke with a tech. He said he had never heard of this and that there is no problem using their CT machine. Just have my doctor send the script to them. So, now I am scrambling to get the new script sent to SMH. Thanks Bowes Imaging Ctr.!!! One other thing. There were four very polite ladies at the front desk, and I assume one was the office manager that never offered to find another facility that could take me! Warning: Extremely Poor Experience at Bowes Imaging Center I don't usually post about bad service or share personal medical info, but I feel compelled to warn others about this. Bowes Imaging Center has been the worst facility I've ever dealt with. Their lack of communication both within their office and to their patients is appalling. Here's the condensed version: -After a lump was found, my doctor referred me for a diagnostic mammogram. It took weeks to get an appointment. I get that they're busy. It was a nerve-wracking wait for a couple of weeks. -Two days before the appointment, a tech called claiming I wasn't due for a mammo and tried to cancel it. I explained the situation and she saved the appointment. -I received two confirmation messages--but on the day of the appointment, the front desk tried to turn me away again, saying I wasn't due for a mammo. Thankfully, the tech was there to intervene. Still, I was in tears from the stress and confusion. After the mammo and ultrasound, I left feeling like I had inconvenienced them. -Three days later, my primary care doctor called and shared the radiologist's report: the mass is suspicious and now involves a lymph node. A biopsy is needed (BIRAD 4). -Today, I got a letter from the same radiologist saying only that my recent test showed a finding that "requires additional imaging studies such as additional mammographic views or ultrasound" is needed--no mention of the mass, lymph node, or biopsy. The letter instructs me to call their office to schedule these. This experience was chaotic, dismissive, and deeply upsetting. My advice: avoid Bowes Imaging if you want to be treated with care and competence. Who knows? Your life may depend on it. read more

Very dissatisfied with this company.. Horrible service for folks who may have a breast issue. First told 2 days for results Then told 4 days for results Then told it takes awhile. It is apparent they need to train the folks who answer the phone on results. 6 days and counting for results. When patients are worried it doesn't help to give 4 to 5 different answers. So unprofessional. When I explained to the last person there how many times and different protocols I had been given they quickly said everyone is new. Excuses excuses. I was very impressed with Bowes. I needed to go in for a cat scan and they were able to book me in within a week. Once I got to the facility, check in was speedy and the appointment was on time. No delays. The technician was very polite, explained the whole process and really made me feel at ease. The procedure was done and I was in and out ahead of what I expected. It would be a 5 star but the younger blonde woman at the front desk was not only rude and awful to me but to other customers. She acted annoyed that there were patients coming in and speaking to them worse than a fast food drive through worker. She was even rude to me for having all my papers on me, and then was rude to someone else for not having it. Scheduled for an MRI. Upon arrival, I was told that I had a $300 balance from 16 years ago and they had no idea what is was for. I could feel my blood pressure rising and my head started throbbing over the argument with their Office Manager. My blood pressure was 124/62 prior to my arrival. I left by ambulance with a BP of 192/100, this could have been fatal. When I felt my head and body in shock, I asked them to take my BP as I was getting worse. They claimed that they didn't have a blood pressure machine. My son asked them to call 911. I just got out of the hospital. In September, 2024, they cancelled a much needed Bone Density Scan that I scheduled in July 2004 stating that I had to pay $300 from 16 years ago. One month later I broke my foot not aware that I had severe osteoporosis. They can't repair the damages they've created in two incidences one year apart. read more

Bowes still has not sent them even though the new imaging facility has requested it 3 times. Meanwhile I can't be seen for my final appointment to clear me of possible breast cancer because they are not sending the requested documents and images. I had the nicest and most efficient X-ray tech today named Bobby. I was in so much pain and she handled me gently yet quickly! Which I was so thankful for because when your in pain, you don't want to be moved around on an X-ray table. You want to go home! So, I was so thankful Bobby was quick. She had a great smile the whole time, despite my grumpiness. You need more employees like Bobby. read more

They got my patient right in. I was able to avoid sending her to the ER. The patient avoided a twelve hour ordeal, exposure to far more ill individuals, and was in and out in a fraction of the time and sat in a lovely waiting room for a brief moment. Though health care is not only or even mainly about "cost containment", it is important, and this same study that is offered for a few hundred dollars at Bowes is upwards of tens of THOUSANDS of dollars in the ER. My daughter and I went to get MRI's last week. We were scheduled to have them done at the same time in different rooms with different machines. I tried to do mine but my machine was too small, i almost had a panic attack. My daughter was doing hers on a bigger machine and being helped by Terry. He immediately offered to do mine right after hers. He was awesome. He talked us through everything and made us both feel so comfortable. i highly recommend booking there and asking for Terry. Also, everything was very fast and efficient. We only waited about 5 minutes before being called back. The place was clean, staff was friendly. Very nice experience! read more

I had a scan done in February 2024. I paid them $170. They said my insurance was not covering it. My insurance company sent me an explanation of benefits that show ed they had also sent Bowes imaging $170. I've called multiple times they have not refunded me nor have they ever returned to any of my phone calls read more

Excellent radiologist there and their equipment is very high resolution. It's a busy place and sometimes you have to Wait longer than expected but they have appointments up until midnight. Surprised by some of the negative reviews. Don't know what they were expecting but it's a business that's very busy, but they have the most accommodating appointments around. read more

I will never return. The MRI scared me. It did not sound right and I could see the rust. The machine was ancient. The radiologist (??) was an old woman dressed in clothes that looked like donations from GoodWill. She did not introduce herself nor did she wear a name badge, despite being good at her job. She got me lined up with minimal fuss. But NOBODY in the office wore a name badge. I did not know if I was talking to the janitor or manager. Service was pretty quick but the equipment looks nothing like the machine on their website. And the reviews talking about great new MRI machines did not visit the same clinic as me. They must be paid ads. I did a little digging and I see they have silent, unnamed, investors. The art of self-referral in radiology is a well known and used way to generate more revenue by the same patient. Medicare estimates the practice is widespread, perhaps as much as 80% of all imaging. Self-referral is also Medicare Fraud since the doctor ordering the images is double dipping. The practice encourages needless imaging orders for patients who wull not benefit. The physicians at Ramos Imaging Center refused to work with Sarasota Memorial imaging center. I was told "we only work with Bowes". That did not seem right. read more

I brought my mother here for a CT scan Large team behind the desk, all kind, professional and helpful. The facility is new, clean and bright. It has a cheerful environment We did not wait long and once it was our turn we followed a kind staff person who was very helpful to my 89 yr old mother. She even brought mother a blanket since she/mother was complaining she was cold. The entire CT process was fast. Great team of empathetic, kind staff, very helpful. read more

Went to Bowes who was recommended by my primary care physician. I had previously contacted my medical insurance to the point that they gave me prior authorization where all I had to pay was my copay of $100.00..... I get there and they proceeded to tell me that they contacted my insurance carrier and was told this service was NOT a covered service under my plan. They wanted me to pay as a retail self pay with a outrageous amount of money. I told them that was not the case. They would not listen to me. I had to call my insurance and have them speak directly with them. The center then said there must have been a mistake. My feeling is that this is a practice so they can collect from as many people as they can. I will NEVER go back to this company again. I'm my eyes they are extremely diss honest. If you have to go to them make sure you have all your info before you get there so they don't try and scam you. If I could give them a zero I would!!! read more

This place was great! With their convenient hours, it was easy to get an appointment time that worked for me. The office is beautiful, looks very new and all the staff were friendly. I was really nervous about getting an MRI, because I had a negative experience at a different facility. If you have claustrophobia I would highly recommend Bowes Imaging and the bariatric MRI. It was a lot roomier than the regular MRI and I had no issue being claustrophobic in this one. You're able to go feet first into this machine and I could see out a little which made a huge difference for me. They even let me bring my sweet boyfriend, so I had a nice view! 80s music played on the headphones and the whole process went smoothly. read more

They were told ahead of time a wide MRI machine would be required. They took him in and tried to squeeze him into a regular one. Now I/we have to wait another 45 minutes until the wide MRI is ready.
