Today…read morewhen I arrived for a liver ultrasound they immediately began questioning me about whether I had eaten or drunk anything within the last three hours, and when I said no, they said, " You are chewing gum, and that causes saliva to go into your digestive track and affects the results. My written order from my doctor stated "Do not eat or drink for 3 hours prior to appointment. May sip WATER only." My internet search results state that saliva has no bearing as far as the digestive track is concerned for a liver ultrasound. No matter, at the time it was obvious to me that they did not want me there, just like the feeling I got from that place during my first visit. Why? I don't know, maybe because I am Hispanic? I don't know and I don't like to accuse people of racism, it's not how I was raised. But, I do have a great dislike of paying for unwelcoming, entitled people who act like they are better than you, and maybe, don't even like their jobs dealing with the public. I will never go back there and there are plenty of these businesses that will gladly take my money without treating me like dirt. If you are of minority ancestry, do yourself a favor and go to Simon Med or anywhere else to be treated like a decent human being.

My 90 year old mother ( who lives independent) was brought in by me because she lives in North Tampa and while visiting, I wanted to "rule out a Urinary bladder infection. " Theresa Bobbett PA was an extremely rude practitioner who stood as far away from the patient as she physically could and advised us that we needed to go to the ER based on her BP. My mother explained that being 90 with CHF, the BP was her normal baseline, I am her daughter a nurse and advised her as well that it was baseline. Teresa would not converse with us and actually REFUSED further care or conversation and directed us to go to the ER. Prior to that we were given a urine specimen cup which they refused to accept the urine specimen. In addition my mother has excellent cognition and there was no evidence of change in mental status during this visit. The PA did not interact much with us, and acted quite unreasonable. We did go the following day to Lakewood Ranch Emergency And they provided outstanding care for her and confirmed urinary tract infection. The trained physician did not even question her blood pressure, provided the antibiotics and off we went. They did do routine blood work and all returned normal. Although SMH urgent care could have treated my mother, they refused care. I'm my opinion, that particular PA is unqualified, in compassionate, unprofessional and in the wrong profession. Further my mother did not need an ER for treatment of a UTI as a PCP or urgent care would be sufficient. LWR ER was an excellent experience with a medical DO physician and highly qualified nurses. I highly recommend Lakewood Ranch ER for professional and compassionate care.

Having completed that, you now proceed to the office and are asked to produce the SAME documents you just sent them. Whoever came up with this incredibly stupid system must have been a brain damaged, 7-year-old with attention deficit disorder. The only thing normal and pleasant was the actual procedure which was performed by a very polite and helpful Technician.

And if you don't want poor quality imagery, stop fidgeting and wiggling in the machines! I'm an Army Veteran, ex paratrooper; I've had 4 low back surgeries and 3 vertabrae fused in my neck. Believe me, I've had a LOT of MRI's, this place is not bad at all! If you really want to compare, wait 4 hours past your scheduled appointment for an MRI at the VA hospital in Atlanta where you go thru for 30 mins, get pulled out, shot full of radioactive contrasting dye that feels like you just had an IV of Tabasco; then go back in for another 45 mins of noisy testing! They treat you like a side of beef, low paid government employees that don't care and don't want to work. Everything there is from the lowest bidders, so crappy furniture to peeling paint to stinky homeless bums.. Errr, sorry, "Low Hygene Urban Outdoorsmen." Each time I have left in uncontrollable tears due to the ignorance of the personal pointing, laughing, pushing out of the waiting room away from other patients, only to be told to roll myself through the heavy doors into the hallway on the other side, a clip board with paper work to fill out. Even when trying to take my papers & money out to the receptionist, she met me at the door, grabbed my papers & money & told to just stay in there & they would get me when they got a chance. As I sat there in that dark hallway crying because of being made to feel like I wasn't worthy of sitting in the waiting room. As personal walked by me snickering & pointing at me, I over heard the xray tech that was suppose to take my chest telling the lady that was to do my ultrasound to do my xray too because she didn't want to. The ultrasound lady looked at me & seen me crying, like other personal had as they just walked by, she immediately came over to me & asked me if I was ok & if there was anything she could do. She was the only caring person in that place. Regretfully I didn't get her name, but I thanked her for being the only one that treated me like a human being.
