A go-to if you're in the area. It's not my first time at Bovine Bakery but finally got to review my most recent experience. My boyfriend and I stopped here before our hike near the coast. Lots of parking in the area, even if it's busy. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. For those coming for the first time, there's no indoor seating. I opted for a pain au chocolat (warmed) while my boyfriend ordered the only noted gluten free baked good they had (a blueberry muffin). I thought the pain au chocolat was the perfect way to start the morning. It's not the flaky chocolate croissant you'll find at Arsicault Bakery but delicious either way. It's more of a puff pastry texture. The chocolate wasn't too sweet which is usually where I draw the line between a good pastry and a great one. My boyfriend enjoyed the gluten free muffin. We got a soup and a couple pastries. The soup was solid, but truthfully the pastries were fairly below average; cold, not crispy, not great laminations and fillings were not tasty. They also took a while because they forgot to heat up our pastry. read more

Saw this small cute bakery while walking around so we stopped in for a coffee and some pastries to take home. It was the end of the day but they still had a few goodies left. We ordered 2 savory scones, a lemon tart and a morning bun. Service was fast. We toasted those savory scones and ate with eggs the next morning. Very tasty scones - def lots of flavor and would order again. The lemon tart was good but a little too sweet for my taste. I don't eat too much sugar though. The morning bun was OK but felt like too much bread and not enough cinnamon. Def worth trying if you're in the area though b/c they have a great selection of fresh baked goods. read more

I absolutely adore this coffee shop. My first visit was less than 3 weeks ago with my mom, and yesterday we came back with my sister. You can usually snag parking right in front. There is no seating inside or in front, but there are some benches/ tables very close by. Their menu changes, but they also offer some consistent pastries and other items. We grabbed Americanos, an iced vanilla latte with oat milk (omg, delicious), a morning bun, a savory veggie scone, a peanut butter cookie, a few veggie frittatas, and an almond croissant (over two visits! A must that we stop here before a hike. If there is a line it goes by pretty fast. Friendly people that work there. Very organized. Variety of baked goods. My go to is the cobbler. Filled with yummy fruit and nuts for the crunch. Not super sugary sweet which is nice. read more

Who knew the pastries and baked goods were so good in Point Reyes? I thought it was all about the seafood ;) We were camping in the area and checked out the cool town of Point Reyes Station. There are some great bakeries, and Bovine Bakery is tops on the list. It's a great place to grab a "morning bun" and some coffee and walk around the area or drive off to the lighthouse. It was totally worth all the calories in this yummy goodness! This quaint bakery is located in the heart of the tiny town of Point Reyes Station. We arrived at 9am and there was still a nice selection of baked goods. The line was short, only 2-3 people ahead of us. The service was fast and friendly. We drove our RV van and were able to find easy parking right around the corner from the main street. Lots of dogs were out and about and there was even a Farmer's Market in town. read more

Stopped by on a Monday morning & was greeted with fast & friendly service. The store was clean and there was no line. We ordered a savory scone, which was decent, but the main star was the morning bun! I requested it heated up and it was DELICIOUS - highly recommend eating it while warm. Perfect flakiness & sweetness levels! It felt like a warm hug on a chilly morning. But be warned !! I thoroughly enjoyed my baked good... until a bird outside attacked my bun and tried to get its claws on it. I had to throw it away :( I spoke to the employees when I went to order another one, and turns out the birds outside are VERY aggressive, potentially due to them getting used to being fed by other customers. Wow! First off, the place is super small and constantly SUPER busy. However, there seemed to be a lot of workers, so my family actually got our order fairly quickly. We got the ham and cheese croissant, and the pesto potato bacon cheese jalapeño croissant (lol). I don't know if I was just hungry because of my hike, but the croissants were CROISSANT PERFECTION! And I'm a big croissant fan! They were the perfect amount of flaky without being too hard, fluffy while being compact, and well buttered. My husband, our mini pincher and I were there on a Tuesday morning about 9:00am. We bought a chai latte, a regular latte, a Morning Bun, an Armando Roll and a bear claw. Plus a piece of ham frittata for our dog that they warm up before they give to you. The Armando roll is packed full of apples and raisins, cinnamon roll style with a drizzle of icing on top. It was delicious, not too sweet, the apples weren't mushy at all. The Bear claw was eaten before I could take a picture, delicious and good ratio of filling to roll. The Morning bun was crispy at the edges with a soft and buttery roll. The best part was the topping ... like buttery caramel. My pup enjoyed her piece of frittata! I've gone to Bovine since the early 90s, and always loved their bakery goods and coffee, but it's gone downhill so far in the last few years that I no longer will go there and I can't recommend it to anyone. The morning buns used to be amazing, gooey, rich wonderful pastries, but they clearly have changed the recipe and now they are a pale, boring, facsimile of their former glory. The drip coffee used to be reliably excellent, but since they started with expresso drinks the drip coffee is now often stale and awful. Nothing lasts forever, but its sad to see the Bovine quality slip so far. read more

Truly the best morning bun I've ever had!! Pro tip, request to get it warmed up- sooooo fluffy and delicious. The bun is quite large, but it's so good, I don't think you'll wanna share LOL Good mocha too, but the baked goods seem to be the star of the show. Was so tempted to get a slice of pie or pizza.... Line seems to be consistently long throughout the day, menu is inside so you can't quite see it until you get into the building. They're efficient though, we can't have waited more than 20 minutes at most! read more

The coffee was fabulous. The service not so much. I ordered a latte with whole milk. I saw the barista using oat milk. So I said to the cashier very politely that I saw the barista pour in oat milk and I had asked for whole. The barista dead a$$ looks at the cashier and goes, "I heard oat milk." The cashier looks at the barista and says " yeah I heard oat milk too." Completely ignoring me & treating me like an inconvenience. I was very apologetic and gracious about the misunderstanding because I never treat service people poorly and I love to support local shops- but these small coffee shops make it really hard with their poor attitudes treating customers like an inconvenience like I didn't just put money in their pockets. A small cute little shop in downtown Point Reyes. I stopped by for a quick snack and found this little shop in downtown. Walk in and decided to get sth savory so I got their savory bites - feel like a quiche with eggs, potatoes, ham, bacon, onions. The service was very nice and asked if I would like to warm it up, waiting for 10m for a warm hot bites but then disappointed that it came out still cold inside which made me think it's was frozen or store in the fridge - not fresh. My friend got a piece of pizza and he said that the pizza was hard that he could even use it to kill the flies lol 1 STAR for friendly service and 1 STAR to encourage as it seems to be the only bakery in the area Notes: order inside and pickup at the window. read more

Stopped by here as I saw a line out the door while passing through Point Reyes, so figured it must be good. Boy, was I disappointed. The latte I got was subpar and the chocolate chip cookie was extremely disappointing. I can make both these items better myself. The cookie was large but tasted bland. The latte was very strong and I even added vanilla and didn't even taste any vanilla. I did sample a piece of the frittata and that was good, so perhaps that's what people come here for. I'd recommend going somewhere else, don't waste your time standing in a long line here. If the lines short and you really want to try it, sure. I visited this bakery because of the 4 stars, but it's definitely over rated. I didn't get there til lunch time and there wasn't a lot left, but the coconut lemon cake looked good. The service wasn't great on entry, but I let that go. The cake itself is dry. The coconut flavor is there, but missing the lemon. The frosting is also very sweet. I'm sad I spent $5 on this small slice of cake, but you live and learn. I don't recommend wasting your money here. I think people like this place because they don't know any better. read more
