The food is not the reason for the poor rating. The beer selection is great. The food is good. During our last visit, we were sat and waited a while. We asked the Hostess to contact our Server. The employees proceeded to fight, in front of us, who had to take our table. Clearly nobody wanted another table. When we were waited on and served, I asked why our beers were 2/3 full. The response was, "We're out". There was no offer of us ordering a different beer, a discount - end of discussion. We also noted the one of the Servers and a Cook, who you could see through the window, were drinking beer while working. Two staff members had attitudes with us and were so disrespectful during our last visit, we will not return. They do not deserve our business. Service was slow and we waited for drinks for at least 15 min after we received our meal. We had a coupon for up to $8.00 off and they only took $5 off the bill. Guinness on tap...always a plus. Mozzarella sticks. They tasted pretty good, but they came from the freezer, and do you know how I know this. They were still cold when they brought them to us. We made mention of this to our waitress, she took them back to the kitchen, and they microwaved them and brought them back to us. Not a good thing. Not a good thing at all. My wife had the eggplant parmesan with a side of spaghetti (served without a twirling spoon). She liked the spaghetti but was not fond of the eggplant as it was too chewy. I had the lasagna with an Italian sausage link which was really tasty...a generous portion with a good amount of spice to it. The caesar salad was layered instead of tossed with light dressing and red onion (on a caesar salad?)...and the potato soup was spicier than I expected (in a good way.) I've been trying various pizza establishments around my area. I hate to say this but this was a disappointment. First of all, if I new the crust was paper thin, I would not have ordered it. Second, I was charged more than the price on their website and didn't realize it until I got home. We went after dinner rush (8pm) and sat outside. The restaurant was slow. The server started strong but quickly chose his smoke breaks over serving his tables. Thankfully the food is good and the bartender makes a great drink. We got 2 pizzas: the Zoe and the Veggie without cheese. We started with the hummus plate, which was very yummy. Plenty of thin pita to enjoy the 3 different dips. There was roasted red pepper, plain hummus and I think an eggplant based one (baba ganoush). The menu wasn't very descriptive. I had the spinach pear salad without the Gorgonzola cheese. It was yummy and very generous portion for only $7.50 I would go again just for the yummy Spicy Cucumber Margarita they hand muddle. Looking for pizza, ate here on a fairly busy Saturday night with wife and two teenage girls. Ordered three pizzas and teas. Spent $8+ on the drinks. The girls and I had one refill, my wife none. Disappointing. The pizzas were good. Thin crust, good toppings, no complaint with the food other than I was still hungry after eating my 12" pizza (and I'm not a big guy). Had a coupon that came in the mail for a free spinach dip appetizer. Our server said that we couldn't use it because we didn't order an entree. While this was technically correct, it's a little crazy since my 12" pizza cost more than a lot of the "entrees." All in all, the food was ok, but if you're hungry, I would not go with a pizza. The service could be better. I waited tables in my youth and I have pretty decent (low) expectations, but I do like to have my drink refilled at regular intervals. On 10-2-15 I went in to eat with my friends and my highly trained service dog. A man quickly approached us and DEMANDED that I provide a "license" for my working dog. I tried to explain to him that under federal law, there is not a legitimate "license" or anything like that. I tried to explain my dogs training and I even handed him a copy of the law. He shook his head and stormed off. We ended up getting a table but he and the rest of the staff were very rude all night. Their pizza exceeded our expectations. The sauce was spot on with spice, acidity and not sweet. The crust had flavor. It wasn't too thin and certainly not too thick. It's not your Dominoes/papa John all dough with cheap ingredients. And it's not like a thin NY pizza nor Neapolitan/coal fired oven. It's in their own league. Always one of our favorite places to eat dinner. Bova just started doing brunch recently. Tried it out this morning and we weren't dissappointed. My fiancé had the messy biscuit with fried chicken, cheese, and sawmill gravy on a biscuit. He considers himself a "gravy coniseiur" and ate every bite of his brunch (and the remainder of mine). The food is always pretty good here. Tried a sandwich and a pizza. Flavorful and unique we always get something different and appreciate the variety on the menu. My only complaint is that the pizza seems soggy to me. The outer crust is crispy and well cooked but the middle is droopy and wet. Not sure if the pizza is overloaded or just gets soggy being put in a plate- still tasty and well made I just don't like droopy pizza. A good, solid Italian restaurant. Let me begin by saying that I was raised in the Northeast and I have lived in NYC, Westchester, NY, and on Long Island. We relocated to Simpsonville, SC about 10 months ago. Is Bova as good as some of the Italian restaurants that we have been to in NYC, Brooklyn, etc. No, its not. But that being said, it is a very decent restaurant located in Five Forks. It has a nice cozy atmosphere. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. The food is consistent and good. My wife orders one of the fish entrees (parmesan crusted grouper), and she is always very pleased. My kids love the classic Italian casserole dishes such as baked Manicotti and stuffed shells. Their pizzas are good too. I have ordered various dishes including their chicken parmigiana and I am always happy with my dish. In the end, its a nice option for Italian food and very convenient if you live in the Five Forks/Simpsonville area. We have eaten here many times and they are consistently good and the staff is very accommodating. The price is a good value for your dollar. Don't come here looking for authentic Italian food that you would get in Brooklyn, NY. But if you're hungry and want delicious Italian food in a nice place with a friendly staff, I don't think you can go wrong with Bova. Enjoy. read more

This is so much more than a pizza/Italian restaurant! We have hesitated to visit as we are not true pizza lovers or really big on Italian food, but we were more than pleasantly surprised to see the offering on their extensive menu. I like panini sandwiches so I ordered the Asiago chicken panini which was crisp on the outside and filled with roasted chicken, tomato, avocado, Asiago cheese, romaine lettuce, and topped with chipotle mayonnaise. So good and filling. You have a choice of 3 sides - pasta salad, salad, or their own homemade potato chips. I love the chips as they are not overly salty but crisp and tasty. We also ordered the basic burger which was really good and cooked perfectly. Nice flavor. We'll go back as this is in our neighborhood and so quick and easy to get to.
