Meatball sub at Frankies NY Pizza, Simpsonville
Bruce K.

I had a craving for a meatball sub and this was the spot. 5pm on Sunday and it was not at all busy. Ten minutes after ordering, I had it in my hands. Toasted and crunchy bread, melty cheese, hot meatballs and sauce. A good portion and not too expensive. The young girls who are working the register are polite and efficient. The restaurant is clean. It was a great sandwich and a great experience today. [Review 21128 overall - 1117 in South Carolina - 91 of 2024.]

Pizza box
Marcus S.

In town visiting a friend, it was decided that it was going to be pizza night. Eager, not having had decent pizza in a while I pleased with the result.. To start we got delivery and not being from the area I'm not exactly sure how far it is to where we are just outside of Greenville, but I think it's a decent drive. The delivery dude made good time and the pizzas were nice and hot. We got one Sausage and peppers pie and a pepperoni pie. Presentation and packing were very good, not melted cheese sliding off the slices and not too greasy. My only complaint was the peppers could've been sliced a bit better and a bit more sausage, but they still tasted very good, as did the pepperoni. My friend, his family and I made short work of the two pies. My friend says this is his favorite pizza spot in the area and can see why. With fast delivery, good packing and nice tasting pizza, I recommend.

True. New York style Pizza extremely good a bit pricey, but it's cheaper than going all the way to New York. For the real deal

Pizza was delicious!!!! Huge slice and hot out of the oven. If I close my eyes, I would think I was in New York.

Nearly 2 hours for a cheese pizza. Pathetic. It's not like this is some gourmet dish. It's a cheese pizza. Avoid

Best pizza in the area, by far. Closest I can get to New York pizza. A little pricey but worth the extra cost if its once in awhile.

We visited last night and had Henry as our server. We've had Tavola on our list for a while and it…read moredid not disappoint! We started with the focaccia, meatballs, and autumn vegetable panzanella. The focaccia is a must try! For entrees we got the Campanelle with pork ragu, spaghetti carbonara, and potato gnocchi. The kids enjoyed the kids' pizza and a marinara pasta. We finished with tiramisu to share. Everything was excellent. Bridgeway Station is beautiful and the decor in Tavola is beautiful! We will definitely be back soon with more family.

PROS: - Food quality and authenticity…read more- Server hospitality CONS: - Crowded seating - Hostess efficiency - Wait time Tavola starts with a plot twist: an 8:00 reservation that magically becomes 8:15 thanks to a hostess who apparently ghosted our existence. Not exactly la dolce vita. Thankfully, carbs save the day. Everything was house made. The handmade pasta was made with flour flown in from Italy! I had the casarecce which had light and well-balanced bacon and lemon flavors. My date had the the "whole" branzino, which despite described as "whole" came already de-boned and without the head. It was crispy, golden, and serving main character energy with its unique presentation. Frutti di mare was... there. I didn't think the flavors were anything to write home from Italy about. Though, the presentation was impeccable, I must admit. Whitney, our server, deserves a standing ovation! She was part waitress, part Italian food narrator, and made every dish sound like it had a backstory which honestly just elevates the whole experience. And the lemon cheesecake is worth saving room for. Flavors were bright, dreamy, and worth every calorie. My only regret is skipping the house-made focaccia.

We took our time settling in and started with the mozzarella and focaccia (so good!) and the meatball--because you can't visit an Italian place without the essentials. For our mains, we ordered the short rib ragu and the verde lasagna. The lasagna was especially memorable--you could really taste the fresh spinach, which gave it a light, refreshing flavor. To top it all off, the wonderful Mr. Flannegan came out to sing "Happy Birthday" and brought their amazing cannoli. Such a fun and memorable touch to an already fantastic meal!

Dined at DeMarco's Italian and had a bit of a mixed experience overall…read more Starting with the positives. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It was very clean, and the atmosphere is one of its strongest assets. We sat outside overlooking Fluor Field, which made for a really enjoyable setting. The outdoor patio was comfortable, and the new awnings provided great shade, making it easy to relax even in the sun. Service was excellent from start to finish. Attentive, and professional. No complaints there at all. For drinks, I ordered a carajillo, which was very well done. The food is where things started to fall short. We began with the long hot stuffed peppers. The dish only comes with two peppers, so the portion felt a bit small. The sausage itself was decent, but it was severely lacking seasoning, and the sauce didn't add much to elevate it. The verde lasagna followed a similar trend. The pasta itself was clearly good quality, but the overall dish was underwhelming and lacking depth of flavor. The scallop dish was the best of what we tried. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the asparagus was fresh, and the risotto had a good texture. Unfortunately, even here, the dish still felt like it was missing seasoning and bold flavor, which was a recurring theme throughout the meal. Given the upscale setting and prime location, expectations are understandably higher and so are the prices. That said, the portion sizes and overall flavor didn't quite justify the cost in my opinion. Overall, a great location with excellent service and ambiance, but the food needs more seasoning and depth to truly match the setting and price point.
