I usually don't write reviews unless it's EXTREMELY awful. I wouldn't trust this place if I were you! My fiancé now husband bought me an engagement diamond+ring from Jason at Bova with a recommendation from his friend back in January 2022. After the proposal, we took the ring in to get it resized. That was the first time I met Jason and learned that my diamond was not GIA certified--it had a certificate from another company. I was a little skeptical then but what do I know. Not too long after that, I felt a chip on my diamond. We weren't sure how it happened and what caused it, so we took it to Jason. He looked through the loupe and said he didn't see a chip. But it was obvious to the naked eye and we could feel it with our fingernails. He didn't want to admit the damage. I had to show him exactly where is, then he admitted that he saw the chip and he blamed me. He said I must have hit it on something. As far as I know, I don't recall hitting anything with my ring, but fine, I'll take the blame. At that point, I wasn't happy with the ring and I didn't trust Jason. He's not looking out for our best interests. Therefore, we had 3 options. One, make an insurance claim for damage. Two, sell it back to Bova at a much lower price than what we paid. Last, accept the damage and do nothing. I feel really bad for my fiancé because he picked out that diamond+ring for me with Jason's recommendation, and we didn't want to make insurance claim or lose money on the ring. So, Jason suggested we move the stone so the chip was hidden beneath a prong. We agreed and left the ring there. My fiancé went to pickup the ring, Jason told him that they couldn't hide the chip underneath the prong because it will cause the chip to expand, so they just moved the chip closer to the prong. What the heck!?!? You should have just said that from the beginning or before you moved the diamond out of the setting. Now, the chip is not hidden and the diamond is looser. They didn't place it back properly! At that point, we decided to take it to my friend who owns a jewelry store for second opinion. He said the stone was rated far less than what the certificate claimed and was worth less than we paid. He said it was such a low quality that he woudln't carry it in his store. We later got a third opinion from a gemologist, who said in his 30 years in the business, he had never heard of the company that issued the certificate on my diamond. He agreed with our "second opinion" that the certificate was fraudulent, that the stone was lower quality than advertised, and that we overpaid for the stone. He also said the setting was near worthless--it was badly proportioned, the metal appeared stressed, and the seams were low-quality. read more

I'd like to reiterate the other reviews on here from Brittni and B D. I wish I would've read them before visiting Bova Diamonds. This place is very sleazy, I originally visited Bova Diamonds to purchase a Diamond Engagement Ring. However, because I wanted a custom ring (or what they considered custom) I was told it would take 2 weeks to complete and deliver the ring to me (a total lie) as my friends ring was made that day in the store. I too worked with Mitch and both he and Nir told me that if I did not want the ring after 60 days I could return it for a full refund (lie number 2) or that they would gladly buy the ring back from me at anytime for 80% of what i paid (lie number 3). I paid in full for my ring and returned to my home approximatly 1300 miles away. I continued to call Mitch and ask for a status on my ring and his response was always "it will be done next week". After being told this 3 times and my ring being almost a month late I attempted to cancel my order and ask for a refund of my money. Mitch refused and instead pushed the ring through and had it shipped out the next day. I was then contacted by Alexis who thretatened to sue me if I didn't let them keep my money. She informed me "we have very good lawyers and we never lose". Alexis refused to honor any of the promises that were verbally made to me in the store. Two Months later, Bova contacted my credit card company and had the charge reversed in their favor, in an attempt to end my business with Bova I asked Mitch to mail my diamond engagement ring and he refused several times. I even tried to have a friend pick up my ring for me and Bova refused to give it to him. After almost 2 weeks Bova finally mailed my ring which is 2 months from the original date of purchase. Once I received the diamond engagement ring I took it to a local diamond expert. Even though the ring had been certified by EGL USA he seemed to think the certification was very "loose" and he did not believe the diamonds clarity was as good as the paperwork indicated. Like BD above I would recommend either paying half the total amount up front or pay upon delivery of the ring. However, once a business threatens to sue it's customer over promises they made, I would never buy another piece of Jewelry from them. My husband ran into Jason at the gym and fortunately for me, he later went to see Jason at Bova Diamonds to look at engagement rings. With Jason's help, he got me my dream diamond ring within our budget and I get daily compliments on how bright and beautiful my ring is. Jason not only has impeccable taste (I always go in thinking I want something but after asking for Jason's opinion, would leave with something even better) but he also goes out of his way to take care of you without being pushy or impatient. Where do I start..? Let's be frank. I saw a negative review here on Yelp, and read through it in detail. However, having worked in sales, customer service, and social media marketing, I felt that the review I was reading seemed a bit... jaded. The way I see it.. sometimes, things don't go quite as planned, and you can't always please everyone to their exact demands. After reviewing the BBB report, it seemed the fine folks at Bova did everything they could do to make their customer happy. But then there's that old saying, some people are always trying to push water uphill... As for me, I can't begin to express how happy I am with my experience at Bova. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted in a fashion that was more like seeing an old friend than walking into a store of any kind. Mitch took care of me in a a fashion that was straightforward and to the point. Before we got down to brass tax, I got a tour of their store and their design studio. Mitch showed me some of their custom designs, and I was blown away by the quality of their work. Another couple came in to pick up their custom-made ring while I was there, and they too were blown away by the work, and were obviously a bit emotional. He showed us all the drawing the customer submitted to them, which was a bit rudimentary, and them showed me the final design. I was simply astounded, and I know the other customers were too. I was only in the market for a loose diamond, as I already have a ring to set it in. I let Mitch know my budget, and he gave a me a great selection of stones that were in my range. Having shopped around for longer time than I care to admit, it was refreshing to deal with somebody who actually worked within my range, and wasn't pushy. He began to understand exactly what I was looking for, and what attributes I would rule out. In the end I got a fantastic stone at a great price. Mitch was truly a pleasure to work with, and I'm definitely going to be an advocate for Bova going forward! I'm at that phase in my life (30 yrs old) where everyone I know is getting married or about to pop the question. I found Bova when I was looking for a ring for my now wife of 5 years. At the time I had very little resources, but the owner was still very patient with me. I had a lot of questions and wanted to see every option to make sure I got the absolute best ring for what I had. At the end of the day the ring I wanted was WELL out of my price range...I offered him everything I could afford, and a little more. He really did a good deed for me that day (and not his business) and accepted what I had with a smile. Loved my experience at Bova! My boyfriend and I both had a ring from each of our grandmother's that were given to us for our big day. Wanting to create a custom design using the diamonds from each ring to make our own, I went to Bova for ideas after being referred to them by a family member. I had no idea at all where to start with a custom design and Jason went above and beyond to help me. I can't even begin to put into words how AMAZING my ring is! Jason and his team have far exceeded our expectations with the customization and it's incredible we are able to have such a beautiful ring made using the diamonds from both of our grandmother's rings! I am over the moon ecstatic and can't stop looking at it. I will forever be grateful for such a gorgeous and meaningful ring. Bova has commented below, arguing that this review is irrelevant because the underlying claims were "resolved" by the BBB. By "resolved," they mean I missed a filing deadline for my complaint. The problems with Bova are no less significant for that fact. _____________________ This is not a casually written review of Bova Diamonds. I put a lot of thought into how exactly to describe the company's many shortcomings, because this review is not about providing surface-level information as much as it is about giving all of Bova's potential customers a sincere and well-deserved warning. And that warning is this: all who deal with these people do so at their own risk. Of course there's a litany of casual complaints that can be leveled at Bova. Were there unexpected and inexplicable delays? Sure. Were they inattentive to deadlines, and uncaring about returning phone calls? Certainly. Were they condescending to their customers when they sensed an easy sell? Absolutely. These are all fair accusations, but they are all also marginal issues. The real issue is this: Can you trust Bova Diamonds? And the answer to this question is definitely not. If you've met their employees, you're pausing in disbelief. "This can't possibly be right," you'll say to yourself. "Nir and Mitch are such nice guys - they'll get me the best deal." I can't blame you for thinking that. After all, you're still on the buying end of your transaction; that is, Bova still wants something from you. But don't worry. That will all change. After you do that celebratory shot with the Bova staff while finalizing the paperwork, all standards of customer service fly out of their well-protected doors. For the sake of brevity, I'll glaze over the details of my experience: I purchased my ring, which had numerous side diamonds, in November of 2011. It is normal for these side diamonds to pop out for the first few months as the ring adjusts to the finger. I was warned of this possibility, and was assured that Bova would replace diamonds as they fell out. The first few months became a year, and a year became two, and diamonds were still popping out every month. I repeatedly sent my ring to Bova, and they dutifully replaced the popped out diamonds, assuring me they would redo the metalwork to keep the problem from continuing. It continued. Eventually, my wife was understandably so tired of having a defunct ring that always looked poorly made that we pursued the option of cashing out our ring with Bova and buying a new one elsewhere. I made numerous calls to Bova - anyone in the non-left side of Bova's ledger knows it suddenly becomes very difficult to get a hold of them - and eventually secured a deal from Mitch: Bova would buy back my ring for 67% of what I paid for it. This agreement was memorialized in an explicit email from Mitch. I'll openly acknowledge that this is in excess of what their cash-out provision obligated them to give me (40% of what I had paid), but I wouldn't be writing this review if the story ended there. I shipped them my ring and then waited with anticipation for the arrival of my check. Of course, EIGHT days passed without a check. I call several times before I get a hold of Mitch, who apologizes for the delay and assures me, while on the phone with me, he was writing a check and putting it in the mail. Five MORE days, and I'm still without a check. I call several more times, and finally get a hold of a new actress in this poorly acted farce, Alexa. She informs me that we have a "problem": Mitch was allegedly not authorized to make the deal that he had made me, and she has no intention of making good on that deal. Moreover, she is relatively confident that I was never even a customer - Bova's records show no entry under my name (this fun wrinkle in the story was later resolved after much frustration; it's understandable though, because how many sellers of multi-thousand dollar products keep good records?). She explains that the ring I had shipped them, which I bought from them and was only handled by them, was not worth 67% of what I had paid for it. She would take her time to think about what to offer me, and would get back to me the next day. When I threatened litigation, she assured me that Bova was well-lawyered and that my email from Mitch did not constitute a binding contract (brief research revealed this to be the case). Alexa later offered me 50% of what I paid, which I accepted for lack of an alternative. Why didn't I just sell it to another wholesaler? A crucial element of this story is that I DID take the ring to a wholesaler to ask him to examine the side diamonds, and he assured me that the center stone of my ring did not correspond to the certification provided. In short, I had been ripped off. This fact informs Alexa's later statement that the ring was not worth 67% of what I had paid. Something clearly happened in the past few years, because this place does not have the "sleazy" feel that others mentioned! (This is good). I not only got an incredible stone for a great deal, but Nir and the crew designed me a beautiful setting and ring to go with it. I know my future bride-to-be is going to love it! My only "complaint" would be their rating system. When picking my diamond, I was under the influence that it would be rated on the GIA system. But when I picked it up, it was rated by the EGL. By no means am I disappointed with my ring, but this switch did catch me off guard a bit. Some say that EGL rates their stones a bit more "loosely." If you're going for the best bang for your buck with a custom ring, look no further. Just don't be afraid to say "no" to their options until you find the stone/band you want. I worked with Jason at Bova to design a custom engagement ring. The process was easy. Because I already had the loose stone and work a little far away from their location, Jason just had me email him pictures of what I was looking for and describe the design over the phone. He knew what I wanted immediately, and had it completed in just a few weeks time. When I picked up the ring, a few things needed to be adjusted, and an inclusion in the diamond had opened up. However, everyone at Bova worked with me to get the stone replaced at no cost, and the ring came out even better than it did originally. I can sum my review up in one sentence, "Do not trust anything you hear from the staff at Bova". I made an appt with Mitch at Bova after receiving a recommendation from a friend. My friend purchased his engagement ring there but he did warn me that they had different management since his experience. I don't believe he would ever recommend them if they offered him the same service as me. I left my appointment feeling very comfortable with the process. I bought a great diamond at great price and they were willing to create a custom ring that would be 'perfect'. They had a month before I needed the ring to propose on our anniversary. A week after the appt I asked Mitch if he had completed the renderings for my review. He said they were 'almost finished' and would have them to me asap. A week later I asked again and he said 'I'm almost there'. A few days later I called him up and told him I needed a firm date as we were now only 2 weeks away. He said he'd have it to me no later than 2 days. 3 days later I call again and was sent to the CAD designer. He promised me he would START them that night! They had not even started the renderings with a week and a half left. It then took the designer 4 days to provide the design. It was great but then Mitch pulled another rug out. They refused to put in pink diamonds as promised twice during the process. This was 2 days before my proposal date which we already were likely to miss. At this point I told them to stop their work and I needed to think about what to do next. I went up to the WTC the next day and cancelled the deal. While I was there the staff was very apologetic. The manager, Nir, acted as though he truly was sorry and did not know why Mitch missed date after date. They offered $1,000 off the price but I did not trust the quality at this point. I bought just the center diamond from them and requested the renderings. They agreed and said that since the renderings were 15MB they could not email them. So they put them on a flash drive. But they did not really give me the renderings, only the images which I found out after I left. Upon calling back they told me I could not have the renderings, only the images (which I already had in email). Personally I would never recommend going to Bova. But everyone must make their own decision. They offer great pricing and if what you desire is simple and straight forward then maybe they are the right place. But NEVER trust them. Only pay half up front and be aggressive in your follow up. Those are mistakes I made and I wish I had never gone to them to begin with. read more

I just bought a beautiful diamond from Bova! I looked around a fair bit at other retailers and wholesalers and they had the best diamonds for the best price. I was really impressed with the diversity and quantity of diamonds that they showed me. Most stores only bring out one or two diamonds at a time, but with Bova it was like ten or twenty. The staff was also very intentional about finding me a diamond that I really wanted but never made me feel pressured into making a decision. I just recently had the diamond I bought here appraised and it was several grades below the certificate. The custom setting also had a poor finish. Do your research before you stop into this shop.
