When I advised of the sizing, I was measured and we also did a comparison of another ring I was wearing. As my visit was on a Saturday, the sizing was avail on Monday. Upon return, I was well greeted and after viewing my item, it was wrapped up with a bow. Excellent service! The item was from LA - it is stunning and gets loads of compliments. As I viewed their offerings, I like the uniqueness of the jewelry. To visit would be for something that isn't cookie-cutter but not over-the-top. (They will design that if that's your thing). Response to Mary O. Dear Mary, This custom order was done according to an approved photo shot taken at the point of order' origination and was shared with client as proof of their intent . In this picture clearly is visible distance between first/second and the following stones slightly different and that's how it was done and presented at delivery. Only after delivery you've decided that distance between the stones should be the same, so basically forcing us to remake for free, besides accusing wrongfully of lying when records clearly showed opposite. After years of wearing a simple band as my wedding ring, this year my husband really wanted me to have a ring to celebrate our time together. We'd looked from time to time over the years and researched online for inspiration but I never found anything that seemed right for me. So this year I designed something myself and we looked for a custom ring designer to make the ring. A big 'thank you' to the other reviewers for helping us find Lapidary Arts. They are true artists and craftsman. The other 'custom jewelry' makers we visited just order variations on settings from catalogs - but Lapidary Arts is a true custom jewelry maker. Roger had a consult with us after he and Rick reviewed my design over email. The consult covered every detail...Including that I wanted to use the platinum from my existing wedding band (for sentiment) in my new ring. Roger walked us through the best setting option, bezel in my case, to work with my design. My husband and I were able to select the specific marquise diamonds and the semi-precious colored gem stone I wanted for the main solitaire - from several Roger had for us to consider. In 7 weeks I had a ring on my finger, a ring that is modern but with a slight vintage botanical feel. The quality is so far beyond what you find in typical even high-end jewelry stores that it makes their stuff look like toys. The quality, artistry and craftsmanship of Lapidary Arts is undeniable. After doing some extensive research on engagement rings and jewelry stores, I came here to see if they could make a custom one to match the design from a big box jewelry store but with better quality stones. Roger, who handles customer service, is gracious and attentive. When I initially showed him a picture of the ring to get a quote, he took it upon himself to find it online to print out his own copy of it so he could have it on hand if I came back in after our initial encounter. While that wasn't the route we decided on, that gesture in itself shows how attentive and responsive they are to a customer's needs. The custom quote ended up beyond our price range, so we ended up buying just the setting from the chain jewelry store and purchased the center stone from Lapidary. Rick spent a lot of time with me meticulously going through his selection of diamonds for the center stone to find me the perfect diamond that was of much better clarity and color than the one the big box store would have included. They also set the stone as well as replaced some of the side diamonds with sapphires per my request. The end result is gorgeous and unique to me, and the total wasn't much more than what it would have totaled at the other store. Rick also did an appraisal on the ring for free! Their selection of jewelry and engagement rings is impressive and very reasonably priced, and had I not already found THE ring somewhere else, I would have definitely considered one of their settings. I have also recommended this place to some friends, and they have all had similar experiences and tell me they will come back. I took my grandmother's ring to Lapidary Arts for sizing. The staff were funny, friendly and took their time -- even though it was nearing closing time. They quoted me a very fair price, and showed me where previous repairs had been poorly done. (I also liked that they didn't trash the jeweler who had done the bad repairs -- just pointed out the problem.) They do their repairs in-house, so I have confidence that the stones I left at the store are the same ones that will come back with the ring. Even though this is obviously a high-end store, they also do watch batteries and they re-string pearls. It's wonderful to find a jeweler that "does it all" at reasonable prices. We chose Lapidary based on wonderful reviews, but what we got was misery and stress. I need to state that Roger and Rick, our first contacts were nice and professional. Michael, the actual jeweler/craftsman was a nightmare! We stopped in to check on the progress of our daughter's custom necklace we had ordered 3 weeks prior and nothing had been done! Michael said he couldn't interpret the necklace rendering done by Rick, so he physically laid out the diamonds and took a photo. When we saw the finished product it was nothing like the original drawing or the photo. The diamonds were each very unevenly spaced and beveled. When we expressed our disappointment with the work , he immediately began arguing with us about the spacing and got out his micrometer, which he should have done at the beginning of the process! When we refused to pay for the necklace, Michael huffed off to his shop to extract our diamonds and somehow lost one of them. He then said it would take him a half of a day to find it and we would to have to come back for it. We couldn't believe what we were hearing! Roger was gracious throughout the entire exchange and gave us a full refund. By then, Michael calmed down enough to come out and apologize to us. Too late. We will never be back or at least until they find a more competent jeweler. read more

My husband bought a crucifix for me, my engagement ring, we bought our wedding rings, my upgraded engagement ring and upgraded wedding bands, custom charm bracelet, and I just selected a beautiful African zircon. Roger spent a long time going over the catalogue to help me find just the right setting. In addition they have upgraded and repaired many, many pieces for me. This is the best jewelry store I have ever been to. Rick is a brilliant and creative designer with an amazing eye for detail. He is also an avid mineralogist--the man collects stones because he LOVES them and his knowledge is vast. When you visit his shop, you will encounter some of the most striking natural stones you have ever seen--and that's just what is in his cases on any given day. If you're looking for something even more special, chances are he has it in the back and will be ready to work on a special design for you (and it) at any given moment. Rick's labor is clearly infused with the love of his craft. Not to wax too poetic here, but after I spoke with Rick a few times, I was strongly reminded of something I once read about Michelangelo--when he was sculpting, he didn't force his blocks of stone to fit a design he had already imagined. Instead, he simply allowed the stone to show him how to expose the figure already hidden within it.
