Scam Alert: "Royalty Staffing" in Los Angeles - Deceptive Recruitment Practices…read moreI'm reporting a suspicious and potentially fraudulent experience with a company calling itself Royalty Staffing in Los Angeles. As someone actively seeking employment, I want to warn others who may be vulnerable to similar tactics. On Sept 10, 2025, I joined a 45-minute group Zoom interview led by a recruiter named Tyler. The setting appeared to be a hotel room, which felt unprofessional. Tyler asked only three basic questions and played an informational video that abruptly stopped midway. Despite multiple participants asking what happened in the chat, Tyler didn't respond or acknowledge the issue. Later that evening--at 9:45 PM, which struck me as highly unusual--I received an email from Stefanie Magallon with supposed next steps. When I tried to open the link, my antivirus software immediately flagged it as malicious, warning of a virus and blocking the site. This prompted me to investigate further: * Google searches showed reviews for Royalty Staffing in San Diego, not Los Angeles. The most recent reviews were from 2023. * Only two reviews for the Los Angeles branch appeared on Yelp, both warning that the company is a scam. * The company is not registered with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in California. * The supposed company website was broken and triggered another malware alert. * I called a number listed online, and the person who answered said they were from Royal, not Royalty Staffing, and confirmed they had no employees named Tyler or Stefanie. I then tried contacting Tyler directly using the number he provided. His phone does not accept incoming calls, so I sent a text. He replied once with: "Hi, what question do you have." I explained I was having trouble opening the email from Magallon and asked if he could call me back. No response. I followed up asking for the physical location and phone number of Royalty Staffing. Again, no response. His silence and refusal to provide basic company information confirmed my suspicions. I believe this operation is fraudulently using the name of a legitimate company in San Diego to scam job seekers--especially those who are desperate for work. If you've had a similar experience, I urge you to report it to: * Federal Trade Commission (FTC): https://reportfraud.ftc.gov * Better Business Bureau (BBB): https://www.bbb.org * Local law enforcement or consumer protection agency Stay vigilant. No legitimate company should be sending malware links, avoiding phone calls, or hiding their physical location.

They were professional, got to the point quickly, and remade my resume' and LinkedIn. You need to be willing and able to calculate the inputs and your performance to get quality results here. I was unemployed for a while working temp jobs and couldn't get hired. My career has been all over the place, and I haven't stayed at one job very long. I knew I needed the best resume writer I could get and knew it'd be expensive. I found Ward, and took out a new credit card and spent $1000 cause I was going broke and losing my mind. The results just weren't great. I was actually getting worse results than I had before. After 8 months I hadn't gotten a single interview. I'd reached out to Ward to see about helping me out but ended up editing it myself after they'd told me it already aligned with the roles I was applying for. They were responsive and got back to me but I realized there was nothing they could do to fix my problem. It wasn't just a resume problem, I also had issues with being qualified for the role I was actually applying for (This came up with recruiters). I also had issues with Ward's process. They aren't miracle-workers, they're going to write a resume exactly how you tell them to write it. But the problem is one doesn't always know what they need. I'm not a resume writer so I don't know why my previous resume isn't working, or what best belongs on my current resume or what is the most significant parts of my life that align with my role. They don't find the subtext, they don't notice themes. They don't quite tell your story in a way no one else could. They're not able to bring to light the things hidden in your career or life. If you don't tell them it's not going to be on there. They're fantastic formatters but that's about it. Which is great for a person who's had a very straight and simple career path and is looking for a good looking resume. A big part of their process is beating the ATS system, which is great but doesn't mean it will please the recruiters well enough to get you in the door. Resumes need to sell you and be pleasing to the eye. I feel like Wards approach failed in this regard for someone who's career path wasn't very linear. They focus more on keywords than looking good and being pleasing to read. If you've worked a very linear career (same path in the same industry) Ward is great I'm sure. But if you haven't had a straight path, are frustrated in your career and want to switch careers, or your resume sucks and you don't know why you'll need another service. Also if you're having trouble selling yourself in ways that have been previously null, Ward misses the mark. I ended up having to go to another competitor resume writer who not only wrote a better resume but realized in our consultation I was searching down the wrong path. I'm in a totally different role now. Something he helped me discover before writing a resume for a role that wasn't my fit. I appreciate Ward's professionalism, and respect that their many positive reviews are there for a reason. Just didn't work out for me.

This time, the second time, my experience has been even more painful. Supposedly, I entered into some sort of "program" to get me employed but thus far it has been months of going around and around with one woman after another who has done nothing but refer me to "workshops" led by women who openly admit that they cannot get hired doing anything else. Yes, the Metro Career Center is clean, but I really wonder if some of these overly enthusiastic reviews on here are created by employees simply to ensure that the funding continues. The truth is that you can get a computer at the library. You can get a listing of temp agencies (that are not hiring) from Google. I can tell myself the basics of resume design. I can (even better) ask ChatGPT. My current "case manager" does nothing. She knows that I am going to go hungry soon so she sends me two links to dead-end job listings from companies that thus far have ignored my application. I'm not qualified to be a lot attendant for a parking company? Do I need two degrees for such a prestigious position? Now my case manager refuses to return my emails, even after I have begged for more help, or at least some moral support. Terrible. These Career Centers do nothing and are staffed by people who are otherwise unemployable themselves. As I've already written, the library also has free computers. The people at the Career Center claim that somewhere at the end of the rainbow there may be Department of Labor training, but you never get there. The pot of gold is a mirage. It's just the same thing over and over again, if you are even that lucky. Redo your resume. Redo your resume. Redo your resume. Get no job hits. San Diego's job market is the worst I've ever seen. Vastly too many people. And most of the people doing the hiring are very very biased and prejudicial about who they hire. Too old? Too this? Too that? Too bad. Get your shopping cart and pick a nice corner in a nearby parking lot to live. And no one cares. Even the people allegedly paid to help you. Five stars for superficial appearance. Zero stars for actually doing anything to help you get employed.
