I'm at the Layton "Bout Time" pub&grub.....Dang MLB playoffs going on and one can't watch it it here. I guess this pub and grub it's not really about sports it's a football only location. I came the night before and asked if they would have the MLB playoffs on one of the TVs and they said yes. Hmmm, Nope, Hype only. And they wouldn't put one TV on a baseball game. I asked if they would just put one of the TVs on the baseball playoff games. The waitress said today is football games only day They have a lot of TVs and 1/2 dozen of them are on the exact same game. seriously?.... So boring.. I guess this really isn't a Sports pub&grub. Pros: The food selection is really good for a sports bar--some unique and interesting options! The food we ordered was cooked to order and very tasty. Good selection of beer and cocktails. Cons: It was LOUD in there. Slow/poor service. It was playoff football so it was busy so I don't know if they were just understaffed or what, but the service was disorganized and slow. We had to flag down someone every time we needed anything. The staff was friendly and very apologetic and kind but... Would I go again? Wow after reading the menu on thier website describing thier food is fresh and made daily is far from that!! The wings at this place is the worst i've ever experienced. First off, they offer wings breaded, wings smoked and boneless wings. People these wings are already cooked and waiting for the microwave!!. In my life had i ever had a wing that Wasn't HOT at the center of the wing and typically you had to wait 5-10 minutes to let the wings chill..........not this place, i ordered the smoked wings because i wanted to dip them in a sauce of my choosing, OMG these wings were cold at the center and the meat did pull apart, however you could tell these were microwaved. Mid-sized sport bar with the typical American pub/bar menu with sandwiches, burgers, nachos, and beer. I ordered the chips with 3 kinds of dip (guacamole, queso, and a cheese dip), and the daily special burger and fries. The daily special was $6, and the burger tasted decent enough, and there was a generous serving of fries. The chips and dip was $11 and was also a large plate of chips. Let me start with the bad and move up to the good. The bad: One bartender/waitress for the entire place. It wasn't packed full, but pretty much every seat at the bar was full, plus multiple tables. That woman ran her butt off taking care of everybody, but it still took a little time. Not her fault, she was doing the job of three people, but still... The good: Food was tasty, hot and fresh. I had a garlic burger that actually had good garlic in it. I wanted more garlic, but I'm a garlic freak. My wife thought there was just enough. My wife got a burger with all kinds of veggies on top of the beef, and she enjoyed it. The great: Great beer selection, great prices on said beer, and the solitary server worked her tail off. Went here for the first time for a late lunch today around 12:30. It wasn't packed, which we loved. It was clean, the music was 70s rock, lots of TVs all on different sports. We really went for the food though. I kept reading great reviews and thought "how? It's a bar!" The reviews did not lie. This place is fantastic. We did the Slam app with chicken wings, onion rings, fried pickles, and bacon wrapped poppers. All were excellent and had different seasonings. We followed up with a Reuben and a Monte Cristo. The Reuben was our fav but we liked the Monte Christo too! The fries were the plump potatoey kind and the fry sauce had some seasoning that made it mmmmm... This will be a go to for us. read more

I've eaten at many of the Bout Time locations in Utah. I've had a hard time finding something on the menu that I liked that didn't harass me for the rest of the day. This new Layton location seemed to rise above the others with their salads. I ordered a Rueben sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was ok, but a bit greasy on the bread for my liking. The salad, however, was really good. I got the blue cheese dressing and it reminded me of Roquefort which is my favorite. My husband ordered a buffalo chicken pizza which came out at first as a bbq pizza with onions. They replaced it with the buffalo chicken pizza, but it ended up being too oily. We had some delay with our order, and then my husband had the refire on his pizza so we were there a while. The waitress was super friendly and apologetic which made the experience much better. She felt so bad, that she comp'ed our food and just charged us for our drinks. We didn't expect that, so it was a pleasant surprise. They have the Buzztime trivia that we like to play, and they also have a pool table, which we took advantage and played a few games. I must say that the remodel that Bout Time did for this location was a 100% improvement over the old Good Times bar that was here before. read more

My wife and I picked up some takeout last night. We've done that before at this location and others in the past and haven't had any problems, but this time my wife's food was totally inedible. She ordered Irish Nachos, and they were burnt to a crisp. Completely charred. We tried eating a few and they tasted like ashes. On top of that, I only got about ten fries with my burger. They were tasty, but I felt really screwed over on quantity. There's no excuse for this, really. read more

My bacon cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and severed promptly. The dipping sauce with the french fries was awesome! The loaded nachos my husband ordered, would have been enough for two! Although 'BoutTime looked dark from the outside, like a smoking lounge, it was far from it. Family friendly with outside dining and a pool table. Great local venue in Layton. Been around for a long time. There is a a large local following and the locals are friendly and relaxed. Service was good and the sports pub surround is great. My wife had a burger, and I had a sandwich. California Burger - 4/5 A really good burger, just not AMAZING. It has swiss cheese, guacamole, and alfalfa sprouts. Santa Fe Sandwich - 5/5 Ok this one was amazing. A chicken sandwich topped with ham, avocado, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and garlic mayo. I highly recommend it. The fries and fry sauce are also spectacular! I definitely will be back to Bout Time: The food was great & our server was quick and efficient. Pretty sure she was the only one there at the time and she had lots of people to tend to all at once. She did a great job. Really the only thing keeping me from rating it 5 stars is the price. It's not "Expensive" really, but about $30 for a burger, a sandwich, and water feels like a bit much. My sandwich was worth the price to me since it was so good, but I wish their prices were a little lower. Not a huge complaint, but just enough I won't give 5 stars just yet. Love this location of Bout Time! It looks small from the outside but you can get a whole lotta people in here. You can't move your head without seeing even more big screen televisions. Food here is spot on and better than some of the other locations. I also enjoy the staff and Scott (manager) came from another location to run this one and is doing a great job! I have been to several Bout Times across the valley over the last few years, I have always like their concept of a neighborhood pub but in the past the food was not up to par. This is my first visit to the new Layton location and the food was good. This new location is in the building that use to house The Goodtimes Saloon. Bout Time did a great job renovating the space with fresh paint, sports theme, plenty of seating and numerous TVs. This appears to be a great place to catch a game while having some good food and refreshing beverages. They have a wide variety of beverages on tap and an extended selection in bottles as well as a full liquor license if you want a cocktail. I ordered the Half Monte, basically a breaded and deep fried ham,turkey & cheese sandwich with a raspberry dipping sauce. The sandwich was pretty good, plenty of food, I am glad I got the half instead of the Full Monte. I got my sandwich with fries, they were fresh cut and well seasoned and served with a spicy version of fry sauce. My brother got the fish and chips and his wife got the club, both came with salad. I don't eat salad but these looked good, not just a pile of lettuce but mixed greens with egg, bacon, cheese, cucumber, tomato and croutons with what looked to be better than average dressing. The fish was large chunks of Halibut and the chips were fresh homemade potato chips. The club sandwich was huge, made with similar quality ingredients as my Half Monte. If this location is any indication then the Bout Time local franchise has done what I have hoped for, increased the quality and flavor of their food. So if you are looking for a sports bar that servers food and beverages this is a great new place in Layton. read more

The bartender took too long to get my drink and order, I also waited about an hour to get my check and then they took long again after I gave them my payment. There's some sort of shift change situation with the waitresses. The offgoing gal goes around closing out everyone's tabs so she can get her tips and the oncoming gal just never comes around. But 2 of the staff make it a bad experience. One chick who works there (I forget her name) never even acknowledges that I'm sitting at the bar RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER on multiple occasions and I'm pretty low key so I don't know what the issue is. The bald head cook in the back has been a issue the last few times I was here. Food was garbage and it seemed more personal that just a coincidence. I come, spend good money and always tip well so I can't ignore bad service. I got take out and requested they bring out the food to me in the parking lot after I paid on the phone. They gave themselves a $3 tip. $27 for two sandwiches and fries is pricey in my opinion. The shrimp in my shrimp po boy was pretty good but the tails were still attached and the sandwich itself wasn't very good. read more
