chicken and rice in a styrofoam container
    Chris L.

Found this at the Guildford Mall food court in Surrey while doing some holiday shopping. The name I feel was false advertisement. Bourbon street makes you think Louisiana spice, maybe some BBQ and creole style food. I felt as though it was more like some asian fusion or american Chinese food. The menus online are not accurate. Last time I checked fried rice, mango chicken and chow mein as well as a few other items are not cajun style foods. They did have some cajun style food but for this to be successful it probably shouldn't be run by Chinese people. It felt more like Manchu Wok or Panda Express with a different name. The food was decent but not what I was expecting. I'll give the real restaurant another chance if I find the one that I have found online with all the cajun/creole menu items. Price was decent as I got 2 meats and a veggie item for about $12. Wasn't very spicy but still good. Felt more like chinese takeout though. Going to seek out the real joint

Combo 1 (one meat, one veggie and rice/noodle, $9.59) and large pop ($2)

This is the most popular stall as I…read morethink many people alongside me recognize that the food equality and price makes it easily the best deal at the mall. I've tried various breakfast items on their menu and keep going back to these combos: steak or fried fish with scrambled eggs and toast or hashbrowns. The steak is a large portion and tender - sometimes you get the luck of the draw with a nicer cut of steak without a lot of tendon or fatty bits, the fried fish is also large and very crispy outside yet soft inside. The scrambled egg is creamy. The toast is buttered and hash brown is crispy. Combos come with a drink and I usually get the milk tea that comes in a large cup which feels generous and not stingy, something that many other stalls don't do. Nothing about this stall, but it's hard to find a table on the weekend and the chairs are not very comfy. Parking can also be tough if you arrive after 11 am.

The beef was so tender and the eggs were perfectly done, not overcooked. We ordered so much to try. The Mixed Beef Offal dish, which we grabbed from another shop, was also a highlight. But that's the good thing about the food court, you can grab a bite from everywhere. Jeng Dau is located inside Parker Place Plaza, so those who've been here know that parking is limited when it's busy. There's a decent amount of tables in the food court, but during busy hours, it's packed. We always need to wait near a table where people are almost finished in order to get a spot. Don't be surprised if you have extra space and others may want to sit with you. We love eating at this food court. There are many options, and now with Jeng Dau, we'll definitely be back!

Who knew Hong Kong cafe food in a food court would be so popular? Does this beat driving to…read moreRichmond? Heck ya! Parking is easily available but there is a 4 hour limit. Cha Don has only been opened in Henderson Mall for 2 weeks and the line is insane. (Even went back a month later and it's still ridiculous.) Most of the dishes are under $16 but some of the items are not available till after 11:30. That's includes the baked rice dish and spaghetti and the minced pork patty rice series. This will quicken up the long time for those breakfast goers but sucks if you're craving either of those. So the first time I had gone, there were lots of mistakes in orders and the long lines. There was also a sign in front of the cashier stating that they will only take CASH or E-TRANSFER...So be prepared! By the look at more recent reviews, it seems like they're still working out the kinks and the line is still 30-45 minutes. Maybe by this spring they'll figure it out? Just know there are lots of good options if you're not willing to wait.

Long lines at both the Yaohan and Henderson Mall locations speak to how popular it is, and the pricing sits in the affordable range for generous, full-meal plates rather than snack-sized portions. The overall value proposition is strong: you get real-deal HK café flavours without feeling like corners were cut. Dishes come out fast and hot, and the kitchen does not skimp on proteins--whether it's pork chops, chicken, or beef, plates feel properly loaded rather than padded with carbs. Despite the crowds, service is efficient and geared toward turnover, which suits the food court setting and keeps waits manageable once you've actually ordered. It's the kind of place where you grab your tray, sit, and eat rather than linger, but it delivers exactly what you come for. Given the combination of flavour, portion size, and price, Cha Don is an easy recommend for Hong Kong café fans looking for a quick, satisfying meal. The only real downside is the lineup; at peak times the queue can be enough to make you think twice. Still, if the line isn't too long, it's absolutely worth returning for another round.

In my recent visit I ordered my go to dish Wok Fried Spicy Salted Pork Chop with Fried Rice. There is so much wok hay in the fried rice and the pork chop is flavourful with bits of fried garlic, chilli, green onion and cilantro on top! There is always a line up but they work super fast and they hand you a buzzer so that you can go look for a table in the food court and be alerted by the buzzer when your order is ready. Our order including a baked pork chop rice took about 15 mins. And entering was delicious!
