Yesterday our club held its first of two golf tournaments for the year here. We had 34 golfers. The first tee time was at 9am. The weather was perfect. Mid 70's. My foursome was #6 to tee off. Hole 1 from the red tee box had a water hazard - not left or right but right in the middle. Yes my ball went right into the water. However it was the only ball I lost. My foursome agreed the course was challenging- water hazards, bunkers, and barrancas. Many holes were either doglegged left or doglegged right. And a long course. Hubby said from the whites it was 6100+ yards total. Us ladies played from the reds and it felt long too. The course was nicely maintained. Our 19th hole was upstairs from the pro shop. The food was surprisingly good. Served banquet style. We had BBQ chicken and beef, mac cheese, cornbread, and green salad with brownie for dessert. Beverages included beer and wine and coffee and tea. The only con - one foursome was so slow that play backed up. And we had to be finished with lunch by 4pm. Fun yet somewhat challenging course. Fast greens most days. Fun elevated par 3 on #2. Hole 14 and 18 are my arch nemesis . Plays well after rain compared to other courses. Range is good but is in desperate need of the overhang installation already. Staff is always super friendly and helpful!! Great instructors! Love Stephanie and Dave. Can't go wrong taking a private lesson or joining Dave's classes. read more

It's been quite awhile since I've played this course. Unfortunately, I picked one of the hotter days of summer to do so, but it was still a good time. Pro shop folks were friendly, tee boxes and fairways were in good condition. One con: the automatic water filler on the back 9 was a nice touch, but the water was piping hot and undrinkable. Carts were clean. Boundary Oak is a great place to play... pretty challenging but not too hard. We'll be back! read more

Helped out with an event here, unfortunately the AC was out in the main space so it was very hot. But surprisingly everyone acclimated throughout the night, fans helped a lot but it was ok. The cocktail hour room was well air conditioned and the bridal suite room was convenient but still hot. It was too hot to take pics outside so we took pics up front. The servers were great and the food was pretty good. The children's plate of mac and cheese and chicken fingers were really good. Their brisket was so tender, the salads and options of food were really good! The driving range always seemed to be busy during the day whenever we went there for rehearsal or to check it out. The only unfortunate part on the hot day was not having AC. read more

This is a good challenging East Bay course. Plenty of dog legs, sand traps and enough water hazards to keep you honest. The staff in the pro shop was friendly. They have a pretty cool new driving range with launch monitors too. This would have been a 5 star review but to be honest, as a public course, the price was a little high for the course conditions., which weren't bad, but could be a little better. The carts are nice and kept up, not gps, but still very nice. Will definitely be back read more

I recently hosted my third bridal shower at Boundary Oak, and once again, it was absolutely flawless. At this point, I've become something of a serial matron of honor (dear lord, no more... I say that every time), and each time I'm tasked with planning a shower, I know exactly where to go. Boundary Oak has become my go-to for a reason. The venue is beautiful, the setting is perfect, and most importantly, the team is truly exceptional. Angelique and the staff are incredibly professional, responsive, and thoughtful in every step of the process. They make planning easy, even when you're juggling a hundred other wedding-related tasks. The space is bright, elegant, and adaptable for any vibe you're going for, and the views never fail to impress. The food is always a hit: fresh, well-presented, and something guests actually talk about afterward. And the staff during the event is just as amazing as the planning team: attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without being overbearing. After three showers here, I can confidently say that much of the praise I get for these events really belongs to Boundary Oak. They consistently deliver a smooth, high-quality experience that makes me look like I know exactly what I'm doing, even when I'm just trying to survive another round of bridal duties. If you're planning a bridal shower (or any celebration, really), I can't recommend them enough. I'll be back again... though hopefully as just a guest next time. read more

This review is just based on the driving range and practice area. I have not played the actual course yet, but I will make an update to this review when I do. Price: 4/5 The price here is very reasonable for a bucket of balls compared to other courses in the area. A large bucket of 90 balls is $10. A small bucket is $6. You can pay by credit card at the machine or you can purchase a ticket in the pro shop. Range: 2/5 The actual range is where my lower rating is coming from. This range is uphill and there is a huge dirt patch right in the main area of the range, making it more difficult to see where your ball lands. There are no flags on the markers and no signs or indicators on how far each marker is. The driving range mats are fairly worn down also. However, there is a shaded area over most of the mats, and the area around is nice. Practice greens/chipping area: 4/5 The practice greens are nice and they are located just behind the driving range. They were a little wet and soggy when I went out here, but I'm sure it is not like that all time. Regardless, it was still nice and I enjoyed it. Parking/Area: 5/5 There is a lot of parking around the range and the pro shop. It is easy to find. It is nestled along the hills of lime ridge and nice park is right near by if you have kids you want to bring there after playing. read more

Been playing for 30 years or more at this course and have never seen a dead waterfowl; and there are hundreds of them out there every day. About 9 months back there was a dead duck on the 5th green; middle of the day. About 2 weeks ago middle of the day there was a dead goose on the right side of the 7th fairway. Additionally, within the last year I saw another dead goose adjacent to the pond on #11. None of these instances showed any evidence of another animal attacking it nor being partially eaten. If you are playing golf out there and you see someone harming these animals please report to the management. It is a very good golf course. read more

This was my very first time golfing, and Boundary Oak Golf Course could not have been a better place to start! The views were absolutely extraordinary--rolling hills, gorgeous nature, and such a peaceful setting. The staff at the tap house were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome right away. The course is quite basic and straightforward--it's not particularly challenging, with few bunkers or hazards, so you can expect to shoot a decent score. However, the facilities are outdated and nothing stands out. The biggest issue by far is the condition of the greens: they're bumpy, uneven, and poorly maintained, making play frustrating. Honestly, you'll find much better greens at most other courses around the Bay Area. They should rename this place Boundary Joke. Given the price, though cheap, it's still not worth it, and I wouldn't play here again. read more

Boundary Oak Golf Course is a hidden gem! First of all the staff working the course were very friendly and helpful. The driving range was still closed for renovations but it looks really nice and should be open soon. The course has a very fun layout and test all aspects of your game. The conditions of the course are very good considering how much play it gets and the very low price point. I only paid $49 including cart on a Saturday at 12:30pm. The greens are challenging and fast. The place of play was a bit on the longer side but not terrible and kept moving. I would definitely play this course again. Went to their grill at 4:25PM (grill closes at 5:00PM) and the worker said the grill was closed already. To top it off, they charged me $20 extra to drive the cart for my minor. I came across this golf course when I was at Walnut Creek. I brought my clubs in my car and decided to hit the driving range. This review is only for the driving range and not the 18-hole golf course. It was a hot afternoon and this range has only a few covered stalls. If my count is right, it has only 5 stalls that are covered. The total number of stalls is no more than 20. It has a cash/card-operated kiosk to dispense a range of balls. For $10 large bucket, it gives you 90 balls I saw a sign that it has grass as a range but it was closed at that time. I had a good practice swing for a large bucket. I was fortunate to use one of the covered stalls. I went to the golf shop and check the area around. I saw the first tee and it looks like this course is flat. However, I've to play here and rate how good this golf course is. I gave it 3 stars since I still have to try this course. Once I come back, I can give them a good review. read more

My friends and I play here almost every week, sometimes 2 times a week, last Tues I played here and forgot my 3 week old range finder, I called Thursday, as I only realized it after pulling my bag out of the car, that I had left it on the carts frame, called the pro-shop and immediately the person who I spoke to knew what I was looking for, "it's an unusual shape for a range finder", I did find it, let me ask the cart guys where it is", after a few minutes, got back on the phone, yea, no longer there, and that was it, hung up and nothing. I called Mike the General Manager, left him a voicemail and nothing, not a peep or a phone call to even assist, $400 range finder poof! Gone. My fault for leaving it, but the lack of customer service definitely will never make me play at this course again. read more

In general the course and the range are nice. The renovation is great. However in Walnut Creek where the temperature easily exceeds 100 degrees, especially during summer months, the removal of the awnings makes 0 sense to me. Having some shade at the range seems very pertinent to me. On these days I find myself seeking out different ranges or just not golfing at all because I know I'll be extremely uncomfortable. read more

I did a full 18 last Saturday, their service along with the course is fantastic. I was also pretty impressed with their range, the range has the top range trackers so you can see all your metrics when practicing which comes in pretty handy. Good staff, but course is in horrible condition. Fairways with very little grass and greens have 2 to 3 different types of grass growing on them. The bunkers either have no sand or too much sand. read more

I went here for a holiday party recently. The decorations were cute and very festive. I wanted to talk about the food here. The chicken was the star for me and the amount of veggie selections were distinctive. Normally caterers slap on a bunch of starchy food but this was divine and tasty! Post pandemic this course is in bad shape. Lack of employees prevent them from keeping this course in pre covid shape. This was once one of the top Bay Area course but don't waste your time here until they're back in full production. They city of Walnut Creek has increased their rates and no longer considered a bargain unless your a resident. read more

Grass is growing everywhere right now in the East Bay. Not here at Boundary Oak. It's almost spring. This course should be plush right now. Fairways are dry. Tee boxes have very little grass to choose from. This course has been neglected. read more

I played Boundary yesterday after a 20+ year layoff from this course. I stopped playing here due to the course being overplayed and in rough condition. A buddy said I had to try it again as the conditions were improved. I am going to agree, I thought the course was in reasonable condition for being a city owned course. The holes are challenging, the greens were in good shape, the fairways were good, but the tee boxes on the par 3's were alittle rough. Being in the foothills with every hole having views of the surrounding hills was great. I think this course is a great value. read more

This course used to have some of the best greens in the area for a public course. The greens were the defense of the course, very fast and smooth and with a lot of slope. You needed to be able to place the ball correctly on the green to score well. However, I just played it and greens have significantly changed, they are much bumpier and soft and much slower. Much less of a challenge to putt and somewhat disappointing. I hope the greenskeeper gets some feedback on this and they can restore the speed of the greens to what it used to be. Otherwise, this course has some interesting elevation changes, and layout, but will not be as big of a challenge until the greens are restored. read more

Went to the driving range for first time last weekend. There were mixed reviews so i was not sure what to expect. I loved the ample parking, quick easy machine to get balls and then just walk up and use any stall thats open. Pretty views all around. some stalls have shade and there are benches and a few picnic tables in the corner. I thought it was a close convenient place to hit some golf balls and I would go back! Also I would like to point out this is the only driving range I have been to so I am not comparing it to anywhere else. read more
