My mother, brother and I stumbled in on a Thursday night in November after having done a little Christmas shopping. We had come from the U.S. and are on our way to Scotland. We were tired, cold and hungry. Your staff couldn't have been more attentive. We were ushered to a table immediately, despite our lack of a reservation. As a handicapped person, I sometimes wait for seating. Not so here, they were ready.
We ate what had to be one of the best meals, ever. My family are all travelers; we get around and are adventurous eaters. It was so lovely to have a meal of comfort food. It's what we needed on that cold night. My mother and I had the 3 course meal of cream of artichoke soup, duck confit with lentils and then a sweet or a cheese plate. My brother had a chicken dish with a poached egg. It was all delicious, and just utter perfection. We finished with fresh mint tea. That was such a treat; fresh mint.
Service was perfect. Never pushy, not too fast. Our server was very friendly and helpful with choosing dishes. The atmosphere was perfect. Warm, cozy and inviting without being cloyingly so.
I'd recommend Boulestin to anyone. It's one of my best moments during this last trip to the UK. until I return, I have my photos and warm memories of that lovely, lovely meal.
