This is a local attraction in Boulder Canyon that I have visited occasionally since 1974 but probably not in the last 20-30 years. With out of town guests who wanted to see it, we went up with them today which was hot even by 9am. Not ideal for me. There was adequate parking in a small lot on the south side of the Canyon, just before the crossover to the entrance to the short but steep hike.Being a Monday morning, not very busy. Be aware that weekends are extremely busy and not enough parking. I believe that the trail has been improved some over the years from our past memory of it. There are actually some steps cut into the steepest of the rock surfaces and some heavy duty chain handrails in the areas with he steepest drop off. We saw little kids as well as grandparents. so if I can still do it, many others can. Cooler weather would have been nice. The waterfall is quite pretty. It was roaring even in a drought because of a few heavy rains last weekend and such hot weather in this climate change era that the snow pack in the mountains is melting too quickly this summer. A must see if you are visiting this area. A many athletes do visit too. read more

Short hike! Actually I wouldn't even call it a hike. Make sure to download offline maps before coming because we lost service about halfway into the mountain. There's a little parking lot on the other side of the road so be careful when crossing over. We visited during the winter and everything was covered by snow, the river was frozen and the waterfall was gushing through cracks in the ice. It was freezing so we only stayed about 10 minutes. Nice spot to visit, but since it's so short, plan something else to do around the area. read more

This is basically a series of steps leading down to a waterfall off of 119. I actually find the gushing stream by the road more exciting. However, it is worth a gander if you are nearby. It is a five minute walk to a 20 plus foot waterfall. Modest at best. You can easily do this in sneakers. read more

Stopped here on a whim as we were doing a drive from Golden to Boulder. Best place to park is across the street by the river. There are stairs that hike down toward the falls. I believe their is a railing as you walk down, but it's probably not for those with mobility issues or who can't do stairs. Not handicap accessible. Very pretty roadside stop. read more

I love Boulder Falls. It's a quick drive from downtown Boulder, and it's so beautiful. Although it has stairs, it's a short walk from the parking lot. Just be careful of the street you have to cross from the parking lot. The walk from the parking lot is less than 15 minutes. The falls are beautiful in the summer and winter. It can get crowded, but most people don't stay long. In the summer, there are a few areas where you can get in the water. It's a really beautiful area. read more

Stopped here on the way to Estes Park. Parking available along the road and short, narrow trail leads to the falls. Very pretty and relatively large falls. The trail leads down to the river, so it's all very picturesque. Worth stopping if you have 15 minutes to spare. read more

NOT PERMANENTLY CLOSED A short drive from downtown Boulder, CO and just on the right - visible off of the road (Boulder Canyon Drive). We went later in the afternoon and practically had the entire place to ourselves. Although the falls are very visible and easy to photograph from the road ... The trek to the actual falls is quite easy. The path itself is a tiny bit rugged but nothing to worry about ad long as you have on shoes with a bit of a grip. It's very pretty and refreshing to sit on a smooth boulder rite at the falls base kicking your bare toes in the very cold water. It's a quick little nature jaunt that you can take while visiting Boulder (we did it the day we drove in from Denver as we didn't have too much time before dark). If you are around Boulder, definitely at least give this pretty fall a drive by even if you can't take the short walk down to it. read more

So I used the address shown here to navigate to the falls except the falls are about a mile before you hear " arrived" so we turned back and got there. I would definitely not call this a hike. You literally cross the street ( please please be careful here because the oncoming cars are coming fast) and walk down the stairs to the falls. It's gushing with its ferocity and it's beautiful! The drive to get to the falls is absolutely stunning too. Get lots of pics and you can just sit and wonder at Nature and beauty or head to Pearl st- that's what we did! read more

I was driving to Blue Lake hike around the end of this road and just so happen to pass Boulder Falls. On the way back, my girlfriend and I decided to stopped here to check it out. This is a pretty good place to snap a few pictures and then leave. Also, I don't really understand why people were bringing Camelbacks as the hike itself is only 2 minutes with no elevation gain. But all in all, this is a good place to stop for a couple photos and then leave. read more

Whether you're a local or a visitor the falls are a great afternoon getaway. It's cool and refreshing in the summer. There are trails along side and behind the falls. A great place to just sit down and have a picnic. The walk to the falls is very short although there are rock steps so some moderate mobility is necessary. Only 15 minutes up Canyon Boulevard from Boulder. Can be crowded on the weekends. A lot of rock climbers go to that area so you are definitely guaranteed to see rock climbers while at the falls.Be prepared to take lots of pictures it's very scenic. read more

This is really not a hike. The hike if you can call it that is about 5-10 minutes from the road. But the falls is pretty (about 10 feet tall). The place is serene on weekdays. So if you dont feel like exerting your-self, or you have people in your group who cant walk to far - then this place is a great visit. And as its serene and you can enjoy the sounds of the water-fall - its a great escape from Denver city. From Boulder head out on Canyon Blvd which becomes highway 119. The falls is about 9 miles from the city. The parking is on the left side of the road and the falls itself is on the right side of the road. You didn't hear it from me, but there's also a little place right next to the highway (a few hundred feet up from the main parking/entrance) where you can climb up and do a 25 ft. cliff jump into the falls. You park, then you walk a very short distance and then you look at the water falling. It's not a bad waterfall, I just thought it was going to be more of a hike. It seems strange to me to just go stand there, watching the waterfall, then maybe take a picture or two, then turn around and leave! I suppose this is why It's crowded with tourists, who can be pretty entertaining. I just read other reviews, and you will not be seeing me jumping off!! Crazies! read more

Came here about 8 years ago in the winter and the water was frozen so on my most recent trip back to Boulder I had to check it out. Unfortunately it was closed but we saw a couple people in there and decided to walk around the tiny gate and risk our chances. It's a 50 yard walk from the rode and very beautiful. We got some great photos. Across the street and about 100 yards up there is a water stream that you can jump into...I didn't do it but the guys I was with did. Is it safe? Probably not but if you know what you're doing and enjoy such thrills it's a fun experience. Water was cold tho (I felt it)! Enjoy the natural beauty of Boulder! You park. You walk. You see amazing waterfall. You'll feel the mist of the water before you see the falls on a windy day. It's a good spot for a low-impact picnic, to sit and listen to the rushing water, or to talk with a friend. The drive up is beautiful, however the park is closed. From what I hear it has been closed for years. Hope it opens soon so we can view, what looks like from a distance, a majestic sight. read more

Boulder Falls is located just a short drive from the city on Boulder Canyon Drive. Depending on how busy it is it is sometimes hard to find a parking spot along the highway. The hike down to the falls is minimal and easy enough for the kiddos to trek. The falls themselves are a beautiful natural formation to check out. Although it is usually crowded with sightseers, there is always room to get an up-close look at the falls. It's a great place to go if you are visiting Boulder and are interested in checking out some of the sights, but don't want to drive all the way up into the mountains. I believe the falls is closed during the winter, but it's a great thing to check out on a nice warm day. Also, it's family friendly so everyone can enjoy. read more

Got family in town and don't know what to do? This is a great place to stop on your way up into the mountains to Nederland, Estes Park, and beyond. The parking is easy enough, though it can be crowded on busy summer weekends. There is a trail that only takes a few minutes to hike, reaching a pretty spectacular, booming falls. There's not much to do here except walk up, see the waterfall, and head back, but it is a great place to stretch the legs, and provides some fantastic photo ops. read more
