Short hike! Actually I wouldn't even call it a hike. Make sure to download offline maps before coming because we lost service about halfway into the mountain. There's a little parking lot on the other side of the road so be careful when crossing over. We visited during the winter and everything was covered by snow, the river was frozen and the waterfall was gushing through cracks in the ice. It was freezing so we only stayed about 10 minutes. Nice spot to visit, but since it's so short, plan something else to do around the area.

    Look for kiosk off 119

This is basically a series of steps leading down to a waterfall off of 119. I actually find the gushing stream by the road more exciting. However, it is worth a gander if you are nearby. It is a five minute walk to a 20 plus foot waterfall. Modest at best. You can easily do this in sneakers.

Stopped here on a whim as we were doing a drive from Golden to Boulder. Best place to park is across the street by the river. There are stairs that hike down toward the falls. I believe their is a railing as you walk down, but it's probably not for those with mobility issues or who can't do stairs. Not handicap accessible. Very pretty roadside stop.

Great place for photos. Only a short 1/10 mile walk from the rather busy roadway. Care should be taken whilst entering and exiting and crossing

Stopped here on the way to Estes Park. Parking available along the road and short, narrow trail leads to the falls. Very pretty and relatively large falls. The trail leads down to the river, so it's all very picturesque. Worth stopping if you have 15 minutes to spare.

Very short hike, I wouldn't call it a hike. Make sure to download the maps offline as there is no service out there. Water fall is nice and you can take a lot of pictures there.

Very short walk. Not a hike. Beautiful falls. Not much to do. You can knock this out in about 15 minutes. A lot of parking. Dogs allowed.

Such an easy hike to get to the waterfalls! The waterfalls are memorizing and completely worth it! We went during COVID and it was a little busy but not too bad. Beautiful!!

    Walk way view to highway.

Beautiful to visit, not hard to find. The scenery is breath taking in the way to the falls.

Boulder Falls is located right off of Boulder Canyon Dr. It's a very short, easy hike to the falls. During our visit it was pretty quiet. Great place to enjoy the outdoors in Boulder.

We were expecting the hike to the falls to be quite a bit longer and were surprised when it only took a few minutes. + Free activity + Great view of the falls + Close to Boulder if you're in town visiting + Dog friendly If you have a spare hour, I highly recommend the short hike to view the falls!

Since we were first time…read morevisitors, we asked for a trail recommendation at the ranger station that fit in with our plans, so something in the 2-hr range. They suggested going in a counterclockwise direction which got the elevation gain done sooner and would finish with a more gradual descent. Being a sea-level creature, I did have to catch my breath a few times on the way up. Now, at the uppermost part of the loop after a bunch of stone steps, there were some all-rock areas where hunching down with a hand or two on the rock helped with balance. Afterward we noted signs on the trail allowing horses. They must have goat like abilities for those rocky parts, I thought. If you like seeing people, there were plenty during the early afternoon hours, sometimes making passing on narrow trail sections a little tricky. We got lucky with parking, going around the large grassy area only once. On the way out, we thanked the ranger for the great recommendation, gave up our parking spot to the next lucky person and went on our way, with plenty of time for our next activity.

After a long absence, I have returned to use the trail around Viele Lake as my preferred exercise location. Trying to get into a more regular walking routine, I needed to find a place that I could maintain a good pace, was not crowded and had interesting views. Nothing within walking distance of my house fits that description so I thought I should go see what is happening in this part of town. Yes, in the politics of Boulder, I do have to drive my "evil" car to this location, but traffic and parking is never an issue and I can be there in about 6 minutes. The view of the Flatirons from here is fantastic, the lake is pretty and the trees and parkland around it very pleasing. There are some playing fields behind the Rec Center that are used for practice groups from the nearby Fairview HS on many days. In the weekday mornings it is mostly a place to find seniors and parents with small kids in strollers on the paved trail. Also, an occasional school group doing a little investigating of the pond life. They have added restrooms and a picnic shelter recently near the playground. As new young families are buying up the nearby homes from retirees, there is a new sense of excitement and investment in the neighborhood and the playground is busy, though not over crowded, and has a nice mix of modern attractive equipment.
