It is a coffee spot that offers some food, beer, wine, and a kids playground made from junk. The atmosphere and ambiance is really cool with positive signage throughout the venue. Kids pay $12 to pay with adults asked to donate $5 to visit. You can also become a member but since I was just visiting I didn't check it out. Beverages and food seemed to be priced fairly but all we ordered was a coffee and a drink for my kid. I loved the areas for kids to play. The indoor area has arts and crafts as well as a little loft to climb up to. Outside the playground is huge. The slides are nice, there is a bus, a car, and a stage. My kid loved all the toys and different areas to play in. Clientele were nice and outgoing. Staff and service were okay.

Truly great if your kids are between 2-5yrs old, this is a wonderful motor skills playground. It has a woodland theme with cute mushroom steps & faux wood decorative details. There is a permanent shaded picnic bench area with two long picnic benches. No bbq facilities anywhere. There are also benches throughout for close by seating. In the summer they put out two cloth tarps for shading the sandpit and part of the playground too. There are a few huge green grass areas great for frisbee & soccer fun. Also a long pathway around good for bikes & scooters. The neighborhood locals walk their dogs on it and it leads to a longer trail network. There is no bathroom here at all tho! Definitely worth a visit however.

But when you come in the summer it will still look the same. A removable heated tent will be erected inside and heated by geothermal heat from underneath that will be transferred underground from the dining hall kitchen's surplus stored energy. So modern in such an old structure. So when you visit this spring there is a lot of truck traffic and digging and detours around the building but you can see from the last picture, the green and the view of the Flatirons are undisturbed.

They suggested going in a counterclockwise direction which got the elevation gain done sooner and would finish with a more gradual descent. Being a sea-level creature, I did have to catch my breath a few times on the way up. Now, at the uppermost part of the loop after a bunch of stone steps, there were some all-rock areas where hunching down with a hand or two on the rock helped with balance. Afterward we noted signs on the trail allowing horses. They must have goat like abilities for those rocky parts, I thought. If you like seeing people, there were plenty during the early afternoon hours, sometimes making passing on narrow trail sections a little tricky. We got lucky with parking, going around the large grassy area only once. On the way out, we thanked the ranger for the great recommendation, gave up our parking spot to the next lucky person and went on our way, with plenty of time for our next activity.

The playground at North Boulder Park is just part of the experience. It is small but updated and…read morelittle kids love it, even on a snow day when most of the rest of the family is xc skiing. I went there to ski after close to a foot of snow had fallen over the previous 24 hours and observed others skiing, dog walking around the edges of the park and the family on the playground. Dog walkers need to be courteous and keep their dogs leashed and away from the ski trails, especially when they need to relieve themselves. The Boulder Nordic Club voluntarily grooms this park which is several blocks long and wide and is located on the west side of of north "old Boulder." They need at least 8" of fresh snow to bring out the equipment and more is always better. Setting classic tracks along the edge of the skate groom strip is best when nearly a foot of snow has fallen. Many people come out to ski a few laps as a workout before heading off to a job or on their lunch break. The snow doesn't last long given that warmups in town usually come right after the snow but it is fun while it lasts. The views are classic, a straight shot at the Flatirons and located along the edge of a neighborhood of older, classic homes. In the summer this field is used for picnics, informal soccer games and frisbee activities.

The Harbeck house had been the home of the Boulder History Museum until fairly recently when the acquired the former Masonic Lodge downtown and morphed into the current Museum of Boulder which is far more comprehensive than this space allowed. If you visit the new Museum, you can see why. Also this property on the Hill is in the middle of a residential neighborhood near campus and parking is scarce. Downtown, there are multiple parking garages to accommodate the visitors. This building is now the headquarters for Women's Wilderness, which leases it from the city. They have a good mission too, so stop in and see what they have to offer.

The vibe is very natural with rocks to scramble over, faux logs & fun rope bridges to play on. It was renovated in 2015 so all the equipment is fairly new. The ground is that nice rubbery park material so great for exploring babies learning to walk too - especially near the rope structures. Its also set back far away from the streets so no worries about your kids running into the street. There are smooth walkways for bikes & a more sandy nature path too for adventurous tots. Street parking only, but pro tip: if you want the shortest entry park on Tamarack Ave. No bathrooms tho!! Probably the only negative. It does have shaded areas to sit on benches & a nice covered set of picnic tables. No bbq tho. Bring your kids here, you won't be disappointed!!
