Great park with gorgeous views! About 1.2 miles around the lake and you can fish there. The park has little workout stuff around certain points around the lake like monkey bars, pull-up bars, a rope to climb, a balance beam, etc. trail is well maintained and spacious parking lot. Highly recommend for a nice walk

Looking to kill some time while my pup and I waited for Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company to open, we decided to go take a nice lakeside walk and soak up some sun at Waneka Lake Park. STAR #1 - There's a great path that wraps around the perimeter of the lake. Offering up some wonderful mountain views and depending on the day a cool breeze. Along the path there are a few scattered benches and dog waste stations to help ensure the comfort and cleanliness of those visiting the park. STAR #2 - If you are into paddle boarding, disc golf, biking, running, or leisurely walking - they've got you covered! Many patrons were out enjoying the early morning sunshine during our impromptu visit. STAR #3 - Waneka Lake Park is dog friendly. So don't forget to bring your furry companion along for some fun! My girl had a blast. STAR #4 - There are a couple little beachy areas that you can go down to the water and get your toes wet to cool off a bit. If you're my rambunctious little pup, you will proceed to roll around in the shallow water, get incredibly muddy, then happily lay there and refuse to move. While Lafayette isn't generally on my weekend adventure list, I'd gladly make my way back to soak up a little bit of the outdoors next time I find myself in the area.

Beautiful spot to stop and enjoy the Colorado sunshine. Easy and flat 1.8 mile gravel trek around the lake. Bring your bike or your fishing gear. Bring the kids and a picnic lunch to enjoy near the water and playgrounds. The boat house rents out paddle boards, canoes and cute bird themed paddle boats by the 1/2 hour at a reasonable price. Frisbee golf, bird watching, fitness stations too. Keep an eye out for turtles on the side of the lake and sitting on logs. Located in the middle of Centaur Village neighborhood just a bit North of South Boulder Road. Free close in parking. No admission fees.

Waneka Lake Park is one of my favorite lake in the area. It offers beautiful views (of the lake itself and of the Front Range). You can enjoy activities like hiking, biking, or fishing. There is also a large shady area with picnic tables and a playground for the younger ones. The place is very popular and it gets quite busy.

I stumbled upon this park one afternoon here in Colorado and spent about a good 2 hours here before heading south to Aurora. I was here to kill time and enjoy the scenery, but as it turns out, it was quite the scenery for a daily dose of the game Pokémon Go, so I decided to check in here on yelp. The park itself is complete with playground equipment and nearby with a tranquil lake to really take the time to soak every bit of karma and zen. It was nice to see individuals there as well as families with young children having the time of their lives. It was quite nice to have that quiet time to be able to just decompress from life and be one with nature. During my time at Warnke lake, it was cool to see the local cross country team do a workout through the park on a sunny afternoon. Made me want to join them, but I was recovering from a couple of half marathons that were run consecutively Saturday Sunday the week before. The air was sweet and quite fantastic and the lake helped me calm down and all was well. I did enjoy my time here and hopefully will return again soon, if travels permit me to do so. The overall experience here at Waneka Lake is probably the best I've ever imagined it to be. The lake itself is the crowning jewel and it was just beautiful. It was nice to walk around the lake edge and just be existing with it. Definitely a blissful time and know that it was awesome. Lake Wenke is located at 1600 Caria Drive in beautiful Lafayette, Colorado. It's a beautiful piece of real estate that is quite gorgeous to live and play here (or nearby). Since this is a neighborhood park is probably maintained by the city or county, admission is free. Free to celebrate life to the highest decree and just enjoy what the day has to offer to everyone. Free parking is limited here, but plentiful depending on what time of day you get here and secure parking. Not sure if there is really regional public transportation to get here or not, but I came here via rental car. Probably it's the easiest to do is to travel here by car anyway. There are exercise equipment in the park, among other things, stationed here. For most of us who like to get in a nice sweat, running or walking around the lake would be the best ideal thing to do. I would love to recommend coming here, if you feel the need to unwind and decompress from a tough day at the office. The vibes from the lake will soothe your soul and calm your nerves. Good karma thoughts are always welcomed here. Still, Lake Waneka is one of those neighborhood sanctuaries that can be the most amazing oasis out there. Colorado is an amazing place, once you get outside of Denver anyway lol 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Definitely a nice respite from what life has to offer on a daily basis. Support local! A+

Beautiful local lake here to walk around. They have several parking areas with good sized lots. The trail around the lake is gravel and about a mile long. They have a bunch of great workout stations around the path too!

A new place to take my dog for a walk and it was a good place to take him for a change of scenery. Stopped by the boat house to see if doggie could go on a paddle boat ride with me but no luck there.

One mile once around the lake. Dog friendly trail, with fitness course. Yes it can get muddy on wet days but how is that a problem? The kids love the playground at the trail.

Easy path around the lake. Great for walking and riding bikes with the kids. Play structure is nice for little ones. Views are great too! There was a new educational building to showcase types of fish and creatures around the lake.

This is the metro's newest disc golf course (Unitl Arvada's Memorial Park course opens later this Summer). Nine holes were opened in July 2014 on the east side of Waneka Lake Park with an additional nine scheduled for 2015 along the west side of the park. Course plays through the grass surrounding the lake. Many of the holes are short, but there are a few longish holes. Two of the baskets are elevated. Weirdly, they cut fairways in the long grass for each hole. I am not sure if the creators play disc golf, but a narrow fairway is not really helpful for this sport. Hopefully, they will cut a wider area. As with most of the tall grass courses, Waneka Lake may be a better played in the off-season course when the grass is dormant.

This is a wonderful family oriented park. The kids play structure is all in the shade! There are clean bathrooms very close to the play structure. You can rent peddle boats, canoes, and I believe a jet ski too! The walk around the lake is a gravel trail and is not long at all -- I think just shy of 1.5 miles? As for parking, no problem... lots of it! Lastly, there are picnic areas that are both covered and shaded with BBQ pits for parties. Definitely a good park to visit with your kiddos!

Love the kids park. We call it Fishy Park!

Great place. Workers care about the residence. The food is out of this world. People are happy.

There are some picnic tables in the shade for snacks and a play area of rock shapes for clambering with smaller children needing safety spotters. It has a safe ground surface typical of playground areas like this. On a very hot bright day there is limited shade and there is free street parking available nearby. We arrived with three adults and one 5 year old. In the previous visit the child's parent told us it had been virtually empty. When we arrived this day, there was a group of adults visiting together, with toddler and preschool age kids who seemed to know each other, so something preplanned, maybe a summer play group or camp type group. They were packing up and leaving so very shortly we had the place mostly to ourselves. Other than the heat, it was fun. The park has some historical significance as the Simpson Coal mine that was at one time the center of Lafayette industry was near here and the park designed around that theme. The stone entry and picnic area backdrop are done in layered local sandstone with a simulated black call seam apparent through it. It also continues onto the ground play surfacing so you can see the coal color stripe extend around the park. Bring water and shade hats and sun protection as needed for the bright summer sun. As we found out, it was very hot in late morning and we later moved on to some indoor food and sun relief. At other times of year I expect it is more comfortable.
