They are a place you can receive various eye services. That's about all I can say about them. They are a volume-oriented establishment, you will receive adequate & respectful care, but they will not treat you like they know who you are. They do not encourage you to come back yearly to monitor. As a matter of fact, they don't treat anyone like they will be around for long. There is little to no guarantee you will even have the same care provider for more than 1-2 years, except certain doctors. I think that says everything you need to know. You should start here but not expect to stay long. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. The billing practices of this company are atrocious. I was forced to pay 2700 dollars for a procedure because they did not think insurance would cover it, even after telling them my insurance would cover the procedure. I contacted my insurance after to get confirmation that they would cover the procedure, which they did, then I contacted the billing department of Boulder eye surgeons to get a refund. the billing department routes to a voicemail, no option to speak to a person. I left over 5 voicemails over 1 month and never received a call back. I called a different department and was finally transferred to billing where i was told a $2300 refund was due and should be in my account within 5 business days, it was not. it took another 3 weeks to just get ahold of another person where i was told my refund was effectively being held hostage because insurance had reclaimed costs from a different procedure 8 months prior and i was being asked to agree to have $400 aken out of my refund, which felt like a scam. when told this the number then decreased to $50, which i did not agree to and reported to my insurance provider as fraud. i finally got my refund, $50 less than it should have been, and was then sent a bill for $400, the amount they wanted to take out of my refund because insurance recouped their costs for an eye exam 8 months ago. i contacted my insurance to find out they recouped costs due to double payment. so my insurance paid for an exam twice and then got their money back for one of those false billings and now my eye Dr. is trying to get me to pay for that exam, which they already got paid for once by my insurance! I would never recommend this business to anyone, unless i hated them. which is unfortunate because the Dr. himself was actually quite good. read more

I got PRK surgery from Panorama Lasik at Boulder Eye Surgeons in Boulder in 2022. The primary reason was to address dry eye issues related to wearing contacts. I know that there is supposed to be temporary dry eye/eye discomfort in the recovery from PRK, but it is now 3+ years later and I have equal or worse eye discomfort than before the surgery. I now do lots of eye drops during the day, eye ointment and humidifier at night, and warm compresses just to be functional but still very uncomfortable. When I got a second correction done 6 months after my first surgery, I found out they replaced the machine they used for my first surgery only a couple weeks after. They really should have told me they were replacing the machine when I scheduled my first surgery. I do not know if it was the old machine, the doctors, or that I had -5.75 vision before getting PRK, but I feel they should have consulted me better prior to the surgery. My vision is good now, but I could not be more unsatisfied with the daily eye discomfort I have. If this is what I knew the result would be ahead of time, I would have just switched to glasses. read more

I was recently diagnosed with a progressive eye disease by Dr. Cuevas. The technician was incredible and the doctor was great, until he lacked patient care. Unfortunately my experience with the office staff was horrendous. My previous doctor faxed them my paperwork twice and they still had not received it I asked for an email address and they declined to give me one. Two days later I was given one and was able to coordinate a successful transfer of my history. A couple days later the Manager of Clinical Operations confirmed that my insurance had approved all of my documents and had approved my procedure and that the surgery scheduler would call me by the end of the next business day. The next business day, 3:30pm rolled around and I had yet to receive a call so I called the surgery scheduler department myself only to be told that they had not received my previous doctor's records and that she would contact the Manager of Clinical Operations and call me back. Unfortunately she did not get back to me and the next morning the Manager of Clinical Operations said my insurance did not cover the procedure and that "we are happy to accommodate you in any capacity" and "please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions". So I tried "reaching out directly" and called into the office to move forward with the scheduling process as I was willing to pay for the procedure in cash since my insurance was not going to cover it. She was on the phone so the office staff said she would call me back after she got off the phone. A few hours passed so I emailed her and asked if she would please give me a call and provided my cell phone number. She responded and told me that they are discharging me as a patient and that the office staff had told me she was with patients all day (they had told me she was on the phone and would call me back). I find this to be a very poor and uncompassionate way to treat a patient they had just diagnosed with a progressive eye disease. A patient that was willing to pay for the procedure out right as to reduce the chance of any further permanent eye deterioration. This doctor and his staff office made an already very anxious and stressful situation that much more burdensome. There was an excessive amount of miscommunications between office staff members. Ultimately, if you want a doctor with compassion and an efficient and organized office staff this would not be a good option. They do not care about the well being of their patients. read more

WATCH OUT: This place was great when it was owned by Dr. Beyer, but it's been bought out by some kind of larger group. I recently got my prescription, but they got my contact prescription wrong, won't refund my money for the wrong contacts that I ordered through Warby Parker, and seem severely challenged in trying to correct the problem. Additionally, no one ever answers the phones, they can't find my records from 2022, and all and all are inept at doing the one thing they are supposed to do: help with eyes. read more

After going to this practice since before they move their office to the new hospital, I will no longer be going. This month I had the second unpleasant experience with the front office staff in a couple years. I don't know what has happened there. Maybe they're overworked, maybe it's the pandemic or a combination. I've tried to show compassion when I don't receive calls back or the promised email or I'm given incorrect information. The last week was too much. I'm actually a bit heartbroken. I can't believe it. For the doctors in the practice, you should know it's not because of you. It's because of your front office staff. Also, could someone please explain to me the meaning of, " we don't have a record of your call?" To me, it feels like they're calling me a liar. In February 2020 I had cataract surgery on both of my eyes, I feel I made a mistake going to Boulder Eye Surgeons or maybe I just had the wrong surgeon. My optometrist had recommended this group but I feel Dr. Keller did not listen to me so therefore he was not able to advise me on the best choice for me. When Dr. Keller came in he saw I chose to be able to see close up clearly, over distance. I explained most of what I do is close up work and I was used to distance glasses when I drove already. He asked at what distance I needed to see clearly. I reached out as far as I could and said my work monitors were at that distance and they needed to be clear. When I went back for my follow up visit and told Dr. Keller I can only see clearly what I could hold in my hand and my monitors were blurry he acted like he knew that would be the case. I now have to use glasses to see my monitors every day, I need different glasses to see the TV and yet another pair to drive or to see at any major distance. I need one of the pairs of glasses everywhere I go. Since my cataract surgery I have gone to see my optometrist for my glasses and he apologized many times because my results were very poor. This has definitely made my quality of life very difficult. I know of so many people that have raved about their sight being improved so much by their surgery and now my sight is so much worse than it was prior to my surgery. Kristi Johnson read more

I have been taking my daughter here since she was 3 (for exotropia including surgery by one of the doctors) and we are done here. First, they do not take eye insurance so I am paying full cost for the visit which was $276. When I went to pay the bill, the only option if you don't mail in a check is to call the billing office to pay via credit card. I left four voice mails across a three day period for the billing person and didn't receive a call back until the Monday after my first voice mail on Thursday morning. When she called back she was gruff and not apologetic. I asked if she felt this service level was fine and she said they are doing the best they can and aim for a response within 48 hours. I asked if the doctors understood this was the service level being provided and she said yes. I have a job and was timing my payment calls during the only openings I had in my schedule. I cannot chase a vendor for three days to pay them especially when they are the priciest I know of in the area. Like another negative review mentioned, I felt like most of the work is done by the support staff. We interacted with the doctor for 7 to 10 minutes at most. $1600+ an hour (based on $276 x 6 patients per hour) is great for the practice but seeing as they can't provide an internet or online payment option and can't respond in under 48 hours, we are moving on. There are plenty of other options in the Lafayette, Louisville, Boulder area. read more

I had cataract surgery in April and May of this year and it was very successful. My doctor was Kevin Cuevas he was very good at what he does very gentle and it only took about 7 minutes for each eye. I had a very serious infection and scratch across my cornea about a month ago. Thankfully, Dr. Bradley Gustave was able to see me on very short notice, and prevented me from losing my eye sight. He is dedicated to his work and patients, and truly knows what he is doing. He proceeded to see me for 2 weeks in a row to make sure it was healing as it should, at no charge. I cannot begin to tell you how helpful he has been in my recovery. I am now going back every few weeks to make sure it heals with no scarring. To see a Dr. put this much time into making sure his patients are OK is a breath of fresh air, and I recommend him to anyone. I know I will be going to him for Lasik in the near future. read more

This place is fabulous. The receptionists are all respectful and caring, and the medical technician that initially checked my eyes and prepared my chart for the doctor was incredible. He was patient, polite, and answered all of my questions with sensitivity and care. He obviously loved where he worked, and had great respect for the doctors. This entire practice fosters a culture of arrogance and cynicism amongst the doctors. The only ones who do a stellar job are the technicians and schedulers. I am a medical professional and am shocked to find that these doctors do not try to explain underlying eye disease. I received different diagnosis from two different doctors there, 3 weeks apart. When I asked both of them what I should do about my double vision one said I needed cataract surgery to get rid of it. The second Dr. said I have tiny cataracts that are not causing the double vision and that I will have to "live with it". When I asked what was causing it he said, I don't really know. You'll have to see (the last dr. I saw, who gave me zero info). These Dr's will spend 10 mins with you if you're lucky. They have their techs do hundreds of dollars worth of tests and you get zero information about what all the testing shows. The technician did like 8 test on me before the dr came in, looked in the back of my and diagnosed me with ---------. If all he needed to do was see the back of my eye, why do all the other tests? By the way, they did them all 3 weeks ago. No info about any changes they may have seen. Zero info about why they did them again. I've seen all the Dr's there and I think they are all really terrible communicators. They are down right rude!! I have no idea what kind of surgeons they are and I never will find out because I prefer surgeons who are after more than just the almighty dollar!! No info, no teaching, no compassion, no interest in the patient. I say no go!!!! I will be going to the Anshutz eye clinic in Aurora. It is far away but they have wonderful reviews and family members of mine have had great care from them I try to stay in Boulder to support our community but this was too much bad behavior!! read more

My initial appointment with BES was for an evaluation for cataract surgery. The Dr said I qualified for surgery and that the laser method was best. He said it would cost $3000. After some research I discovered that Laser eye surgery is not covered by Medicare. Further research showed that there was no difference in the final result for Laser or manual method. It was only easier for the doctor. BES was obviously looking for an up charge. I decided to go through with the surgery and made an appointment. My plan was to tell them I wanted the standard manual method with no up charge. I arrived at my 8:30 appt after a 45 min drive. I waited patiently for 45 minutes when I decided that if they are this inefficient (no front desk communication at all) I would leave and go elsewhere. Poorly managed to say the least! read more

Best eye doctor i have ever had! Dr brian nichols and his assistant kathy are amazing. I am 22 years old and I have convergience insufficiency (for those who dont know what that is, its a weakness in the eye muscles, makes words float off the page and move, and see double, kind of like credits on a 3D movie with out the glasses), and was once a severe case (saw double of everything upclose, notnjust words off paper and screens) until after i saw brian. All my life i had a hard time reading, doing certain things at work, read out loud very well, etc and was passed from one doctor to another after just a couple visits because they either didnt want to deal with what i had or they had no idea how to help me since i was 13 and not a single one could diagnose me, they all said glasses and/or dyslexia. One of thpse doctors recommended me to dr brian nichols. For years brian and kathy tried everything (And mine was more severe then other cases), None of the excersizes or anything worked (pencil push-ups, computer excersizes, a patch, different types of prisim glasses, even wearing them every day for months) and he and kathy never gave up. Finally brian and I agreed to do a surgery in my left eye. And after i had the surgery on my left eye back in febuary 2017, my life has turned around. I can read, do computer work, finally do box office and registers at my job, etc, its like i am seeing a whole new world. Brian and kathy were the only doctors who never gave up on me. And i am forever gratefull! I still have it but its easy to controll now, at first i was never able to. Brian, kathy, and all the staff are amazing there. I would reccomend them to anyone, because if it wasnt for brian, kathy and the rest of the staff, i wouldnt be where i am now! read more

I scheduled an appointment for a consultation for cataract surgery, I was told I had to wait a min. of 3 weeks for the consult because I wore contact lens. When I showed up, a technician spent about 20 minutes doing several tests, then Dr. Gustave popped his head in the door, to shake my hand and stated that it appeared that I would not need surgery, but they could control my cataracts with corrective lenses. Then he left. My husband and I looked at each other and mentioned how strange that was. The technician returned to do some more tests, then Dr. Gustave returned to the exam room to do some of the same tests that the technician had just done. He then announced that I did need cataract surgery after all. I was totally confused. He said he came in and told me that I didn't need it because he thought I might be getting agitated because the exam was taking a while so he thought a diagnosis was a good idea even if it was the wrong one. I would never let this man touch my eyes. I also found out that I didn't need to wait the 3 weeks for the consult, the receptionist needed more training. read more

Giving credit where credit is due. I had decent care from Dr. Gustave; however, everything else was about as bad as it gets. Each time I went (4 tmes), I had to wait about 45-60 minutes each time in the waiting room and didn't matter if it was first thing in the morning or afternoon. Billing department is about the WORST experience I have ever had. kirsten will NEVER return your calls. EVER! I have called this office about 30 times to set up a payment plan of some sorts, and finally had to contact dr keller to talk about it. I felt I was way over charged for them to just "look at my eye". the only thing the dr did was removing a bandage from my eye that my regular eye dr put on. For about 600 bucks in total costs, I thought this was ridiculous. His response was that he felt the charges were that of the same if you have a plumber or electrician working on your house. To which I replied that they give you an estimate of how much it would cost before performing the work. So basically, my review is decent care, extremely overpriced (get an estimate first) and if you have to deal with billing in anyway, forget it. kirsten is about as worthless as a penny with a hole in it! read more
