Over the years as UCH presence in Boulder grew, more and more specialties started serving here, adding to the Primary Care available since the mid 1990s. As this new larger facility out on Arapahoe, they had room to add a branch of the eye care facility. I use it for many things these days. Though they don't do surgery in Boulder, they do serve patients here as they have some general ophthalmologists, some specialists from Anschutz who come up part time and an eyeglass provider. I have seen my retina specialist here for a few years. They have come once or twice a week from Anschutz as available. They have their scanning equipment here. I have gotten my new prescription here with the general team, have had my new glasses ordered here and gotten my regular scans and retinal care here. Today I was in to just get the newest glasses adjusted. I recently had my scans and Doc consult. The staff (I saw Bill today) at the glasses shop has been very helpful, with a decent selection of frames too, as is the reception staff for the facility. Parking can be tight depending on time of day, because there are multiple groups in this building, but compared to Anschutz, this is a piece of cake. I recently had to go to Anschutz for Urgent Care so I have a recent comparison. And the phone support of UCH was helpful in arranging that, since it includes coverage for the whole facility and could arrange the timing that day to get in to Anschutz as it was not a "Boulder day" for my provider. I am glad this convenient facility has eliminated so many highway trips yet kept available their full facility and support. I will continue to get as much care here as possible. But I do know if I need the services at Anschutz in the future their specialists are alway there for back up.

I got PRK surgery from Panorama Lasik at Boulder Eye Surgeons in Boulder in 2022. The primary…read morereason was to address dry eye issues related to wearing contacts. I know that there is supposed to be temporary dry eye/eye discomfort in the recovery from PRK, but it is now 3+ years later and I have equal or worse eye discomfort than before the surgery. I now do lots of eye drops during the day, eye ointment and humidifier at night, and warm compresses just to be functional but still very uncomfortable. When I got a second correction done 6 months after my first surgery, I found out they replaced the machine they used for my first surgery only a couple weeks after. They really should have told me they were replacing the machine when I scheduled my first surgery. I do not know if it was the old machine, the doctors, or that I had -5.75 vision before getting PRK, but I feel they should have consulted me better prior to the surgery. My vision is good now, but I could not be more unsatisfied with the daily eye discomfort I have. If this is what I knew the result would be ahead of time, I would have just switched to glasses.

I was…read moreforced to pay 2700 dollars for a procedure because they did not think insurance would cover it, even after telling them my insurance would cover the procedure. I contacted my insurance after to get confirmation that they would cover the procedure, which they did, then I contacted the billing department of Boulder eye surgeons to get a refund. the billing department routes to a voicemail, no option to speak to a person. I left over 5 voicemails over 1 month and never received a call back. I called a different department and was finally transferred to billing where i was told a $2300 refund was due and should be in my account within 5 business days, it was not. it took another 3 weeks to just get ahold of another person where i was told my refund was effectively being held hostage because insurance had reclaimed costs from a different procedure 8 months prior and i was being asked to agree to have $400 aken out of my refund, which felt like a scam. when told this the number then decreased to $50, which i did not agree to and reported to my insurance provider as fraud. i finally got my refund, $50 less than it should have been, and was then sent a bill for $400, the amount they wanted to take out of my refund because insurance recouped their costs for an eye exam 8 months ago. i contacted my insurance to find out they recouped costs due to double payment. so my insurance paid for an exam twice and then got their money back for one of those false billings and now my eye Dr. is trying to get me to pay for that exam, which they already got paid for once by my insurance! I would never recommend this business to anyone, unless i hated them. which is unfortunate because the Dr. himself was actually quite good.

There is a Keurig to make yourself some coffee to enjoy there or on the go. After looking at reviews of optometrists in the area I contacted Eyecare Center and explained my situation, without hesitation or any attitude (I run into that more and more these days), the office had me come right over. I saw Dr. Dupuis, he was great.. professional yet personable, and witty without the use of tired, corny eye jokes my eye doc back home uses. I originally had just planned to just buy a pair of replacement contacts, but Dr. Eric took the time to check my contact lens prescription to ensure it was still accurate...it wasn't. He gave me an emergency pair of contacts with my updated prescription. Their pricing on lenses was less than what my eye doc back home charges so I ended up ordering more through Eyecare Center to have mailed back to my home. The only negative is the fact they're located in Boulder and not where I live, otherwise I'd be switching to Eyecare Center & Dr. Eric for my eyecare needs. Big thanks Dr. Dupuis, keep up the great work!
