This is a PACKED and very busy Park that attracts people coming into Big Bear Lake or leaving Big Bear. We came in at night, so we hit this park leaving Big Bear Lake. Many people taking pictures or selfies, some people fishing off the small pier, while others were walking their dogs. It was very clean, there is restrooms available (yes there was a line) and plenty of parking, although you may need to wait for a spot. It is a cool park to check out, I've seen pictures of people kayaking, however there are signs that say to stay on the path and not cross over the railing. A nice picnic place perhaps or family photos with the bear. The boulders in the area/park make it a cool photographic area. read more

Cool little spot nestled along the southwest shore of Big Bear Lake. The scenery is stunning -- massive boulders are scattered along the shoreline, creating the perfect backdrop for photos, picnics, or just soaking in nature. A circular walking path encompasses the park, perfect for getting your steps in. What drew me in to this area was the rocky island that sits out in the lake and a publicly accessible floating dock where I saw a few people fishing. Note, walking onto the floating dock is slightly shaky, so hang onto your phones and other valuables tightly! THE PARKING. There's a parking lot next to the park. Parking seemed to have a steady turnover, with cars coming and going often, so open spots tend to appear regularly. Parking is free. THE VERDICT. We walk our dog regularly through Boulder Bay Park. The park is very relaxing, grass cut regularly, trash picked up and lots of dog stations w/poo bags. Today was the first day I used the restroom. It was immaculate. Spotless from the floor to the sinks and toilets. The guys that work the park are fantastic as we know not all of the visitors pick up after themselves. read more

This was such a beautiful, clean park located in Big Bear with stunning lake views. I found this park through Yelp while planning my day trip and was recommended by a friend to stop here as well. After a 3 hour drive from Vegas we stopped here and had a nice picnic lunch before starting our day exploring Big Bear. The park has a beautiful walking trail surrounded by grass, b and lake. Love Love Love this Park! The park as plenty of parking and lots of benches. There are some gazebo spaces so you can have some shade while you chill at this park. The rock formation aka boulders are very cool and there is a dock to get closer to the water. It is slightly tucked away so not super easy to find. There are lots of residential homes around the surround areas that actually looking into Boulder Bay Park which seems super cool to me. I loved this park so much that I went back several time to just relax on the park bench and listen to the birds and ducks in the area. read more

Lovely little spot for some photos with the lake in the background! I've been here on land a few times before... but since I'm a huge walker, I don't get over here much since it's a little far to stroll from the village. Set up your selfie stick tripod or ask a fellow passerby to snap your pic - there will likely be someone in the area. In the summertime, it's lovely to paddle board in the water around this area. We enjoyed our time at Boulder Bay Park! There are some things we learned that I'd like to share to make it a little easier for planning. This park is right off from the water. If you'd like to, you can set up a space in the grass areas or closer to the water where the sand is. If you prefer the sand to get closer to the water, the ground is rather inclined. We found it best to set up our things to the side closer to the walkway that's looking over the water where people are also fishing. Boulder Bay Park is such a beautiful view! - the pictures really don't do justice. We packed lunch and were able to relax and enjoy the day. If you're planning to park, the main lot can get full quite fast. We ended up dropping off our things at the park and then had one person drive to find parking. We ended up parking on the outskirts of the park. I also noticed that there are waves of groups that come throughout the day so we didn't have trouble finding a spot in the afternoon. read more

Beautiful scenery. If you're looking to enjoy a part of the big bear lake I recommend this area. There were nice vacation cabins along the shore and huge rock formations in the middle of the water. Twas a freezing Saturday evening! But it was definitely worth the trip to be here! The winter scenery here was absolutely gorgeous!! It could be super cold so definitely recommended to bring beanies and ear covering stuff as well as gloves I'd love to stay around this place for my future trip! (This review is by no means a way of discouraging you to visit or deter you in any way) As of November 2021, Boulder Bay Park was an extremely sad scene due to the current drought in Southern California. What used to be a well flourished body of water, is now not much more than a huge puddle. While visiting Big Bear this past weekend, we took a drive from our vacation rental to check out Boulder Bay Park. It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining, but the weather still warranted a jacket and gloves to stay warm. To our amazement, where there used to be water that covered the entire area, we were literally able to walk 90% of the park in which normally we wouldn't have access to by foot. Being here made me realize just how bad the drought in California really is and how this area has really been affected by it. Despite this, it is still a really picturesque place to come and be one with Nature. We encountered families, couples, and groups of friends during our 1 hour visit and everyone seemed to enjoy being outdoors breathing in the cool, crisp air. I hope that the next time we visit, the area will be filled with water once again as it's meant to be so the local wildlife that depends on it can flourish. read more

Beautiful little park with easy access to the lake. This is a nice cove, great spot to kayak or paddle board. Not as windy or choppy waters and you can paddle out to the boulder in short amount of time. The park is nice and clean with bathrooms, picnic tables, benches and a gazebo. Lots of green grass and big rocks placed perfectly in the park. There is also a dock that you can fish off of and sandy/rocky shore you can sit out chairs while waiting your turn to SUP or kayak. You may want to visit early since they only have a small parking lot and it can get crowded on sunny warm weekend day. Definitely worth at least a quick stop before you head out of town. read more

Cute little park mostly for little one to play or just for a quick stroll around. We like to come when it's snowing to build snowmen and throw snowballs @ each other. Now, it does get packed and a lot of people are litter bugs! So it does take away from it's beauty when U see piles of trash. On our last visit there were so many people without masks on and no social distancing at all! We just got out for a minute to stretch our legs and stroll around the park. Last time I was here this park was being constructed. Wow! It turned out so pretty! We pulled in and decided to take a stroll by the lake. The park has all kinds of picnic tables and benches to sit and just enjoy this lovely outdoor space. Nice little walking path that covers the perimeter of the park. I love how they have left as many trees as possible in place along with some of the boulders. There are gorgeous views of Big Bear Lake from all angles in this park. Super cute park! It's pretty small and doesn't have a playground for kids, but, it really is a hidden gem. It has a dirt trail and a paved pathway. It even has an attachment out to the water. The park is kept clean, has multiple tables for picnic and is super gorgeous It also has restrooms for both men and women. The women's side has diaper changing station, trash can, toilet seat cover, running water and soap. read more

As we were leaving Big Bear we noticed the rock formations and pulled over to get a better look. This is truly a unique area with beautiful rock formations sitting in the water to make for a perfect selfie. I bookmarked this place for our Big Bear trip and I'm glad we were able to stop by. It's a large open park overlooking a part of the lake and mountains. There's are multiple picnic tables (some under a cement roof and others right under the sun) to enjoy your lunch or dinner. They also have restrooms so a nice stop before heading into or leaving the main town. They also have grassy areas where you can set up your own canopy or picnic blanket. There is a rail that goes down to the water where you can take pictures and/or fish. As many other Yelpers mentioned, the parking lot is small with maybe 20-25 spots? We saw a lot of people also parking on the street and walking in. I can imagine parking could be a nightmare during peak days/hours. A nice stop for either coming into or leaving Big Bear. An hour would be plenty of time for a meal and sight seeing. Recommend coming late morning to beat the rush. We got there around 930am on a weekend and found parking and a picnic table without any issues. read more

Boulder Bay Park is a small park located right off the main street of Big Bear. One of the first sites you pass if you take the mountain road up. They have a private free parking lot. Awesome bear at the entrance. Small and easy to walk. You can walk down the dock to the see the big boulder in the middle of the lake. Great little round walking path. Picnic area. Very clean. This park isn't big but it's walkable with large sidewalks, has a parking lot, plenty of benches, a clean restroom (with soap) and amazing views I took so many pictures of. The Perfect spot to walk your pet or children, take pictures, have a picnic or go fishing. There is a busy street right next to the park and private homes everywhere so be mindful of that. read more

Saw lots of beautiful pictures so we came. The water has receded so much that all the boulders are now on dry land. You can climb on them and take pictures so that's something fun to do. This could have been a much more beautiful place had the water been higher. Hope we get more rain in the coming year. Look forward to come back and see it again. The Mountains were calling--ever get that call?? Filled my tank with adventure and obeyed. I often enjoy coming to the mountains because it just does something to me. My mood is better and I can think more clearer as also being near the ocean. I love the mountains especially in the cooler temperature weather when there is snow covering the ground with plentiful winter activities. Nevertheless, I found myself at Boulder park! It has a small parking lot but once you've parked you're in for a treat! I had no trouble finding a parking spot but I would try to get there early. There are benches to sit down on and simply enjoy the wondrous views. I came on an early morning weekday! I did some meditation up there and then towards the end adding adventures to my next adventure coming soon. read more

I thought this place was quite interesting. My family and friends come here when it is snow season! It is free and you can run around but also dangerous because there is a great big lake! Parking: SUCKS! The parking is small to medium and is really hard to find a spot because it usually is jam packed when coming here! There are cops who literally give out parking tickets to those who park like shet! I am glad that these cop enforcers ticket-ize people who park like shet! People also stand infront or in the parking spot just so they can save it for their driver! They literally walk around and ask you if you are leaving and they look like pan-handlers/homeless people out on the streets! Do NOT park on the side of the road because you are not suppose to, will be asked to leave, or get a ticket! Lake: Boulder Bay comes with a big big and widen lake! It looks cool when it is all frozen but at the same time, it is dangerous! Although there are chains and a sign, kids, they still play although it is told for us to not mess around with it. They could roll off and land into the lake! Also, they have an area that is wooden that you can go and take pictures infront of the lake. Very dangerous though. Do not let children, toddlers, and babies run around or else they will fall into the lake and drown! Plus, who knows what is swimming in the waters! The grassy area: When it is snow season, the grass and mud turns into ice and you can play in the snow/ice! There are big rocks that you can sit on and take pictures! The kids also can run around like at a park! There are tables, benches, and a shaded area that you could eat and relax! On the other side of the park, you can definately play with snow and sled down! More snow on the other side which is pretty cool and fun when in season but also dangerous because it is next to the lake! I love how there is a Big Bear Sign and a statue too that you can take pictures at/with! read more
