Finally - a reputable, honest energy contractor. I'm dismayed by some of the other reviews. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Boucher. After living in my condo for a decade and depending thousands on my flawed HVAC system, Boucher finally offered a viable solution, while assisting with oil to gas conversion. The work was done meticulously and I am thrilled with outcome. Technicians were responsible and completed the work in the promised amount of time. Recently needed a service call and system cleaning and they with less than 2 days notice arranged appointment on Christmas Eve! Technician arrived at 8:30 am on the nose. I had purchased a complete heating system including indirect water heater from Boucher Energy. They tried to sell me an annual service contract but it was too expensive. One day I noticed my water tank had a slow leak. I contacted Boucher Energy since the tank had a lifetime warranty. They were very rude over the phone commenting on how I did not have an annual service contract and had not purchased anything from them in years. They scheduled a technician to come out 2 weeks later and look at the leak. The day of the appointment it was snowing. There was only an inch of snow on the ground. Boucher called me to cancel my appointment due to the weather. Who doesn't work when there is only 1 inch of snow on the ground? At that point, the leak had gotten worse and I had to put several towels down daily to absorb the leaking water. I was told by Tina that the service manager would come out the following week to personally inspect the water tank. The day he was scheduled to arrive, he never showed up or called. The following day he calls me and says I can just send him pictures of the leak. What a joke. It's now 3 weeks since I first called them and the leak keeps getting worse. Now they tell me that all they needed are pictures of the leak. I send them the pictures and they order the replacement tank. When the tank comes in, they call me to schedule installation. A few days before they are scheduled to come out and replace the tank, the leak is so bad that I have to put 5 towels down every 3 hours to absorb the water. I email the service manager Monday morning to see if they can come out right away so the tank doesn't burst and flood my finished basement. Below is his email reply. Good Morning, Unfortunately, I do not have any availability until Friday, the date of the installation. Installations are great but service is expensive. Last two service calls marked up prices of parts by a factor of 3 to 6. A $65 part was billed at nearly $400 and sales tax was charged on that amount. The first service charge (for a thermostat) was changed when I questioned it but the second was not. Service manager pretended that labor was included in parts but he charged sales tax on the whole amount which suggests not. Service call is billed at $165 if over 15 miles, so no excuse for extreme parts markup. read more

Boucher Energy Systems is a highly respected and professional company. They removed our a.c. outdoor unit and water heater and replaced it with a heat pump water heater and a house heat pump. The first interview visit with Jeff was invaluable. He was clear, full of information and did not use hard sell tactics. The installation crew came on the date that was offered and they were right on time. We added a remote thermostat to enable us to set the heat/a.c. when we'd been away and were returning home. I reciently had Boucher Energy Systems install an AC/Heat unit on our 3 season porch. The entire process was handled professionally as expected. The crew arrived on time, met with me to review the installation, and went to work. They all wore face masks, covered their feet when entering the house, and cleaned up everything when finished. This is what I have come to expect from Boucher Energy and they deliver every time. I have used Boucher Energy Systems for over 15 years, first to replace our old inefficient furnace, as well as supply two thru the wall A/C units. The reason I chose Boucher in the first place was because of their excellent references, also, as a company, they practice what they preach, by only using superior energy efficient equipment. The new AC/Heat unit utilizes "Heat Pump" technology to extract heat from the outside air, no electric elements are necessary. We love it !! read more

I wanted to share my experience in trying to work with them. I had reached out to them on a referral from another contractor. First, they said they had no time for appointments for a month...fair enough, its been a busy season. I talked to the owner about the project and he seemed personable and asked me to send in all details, so he can provide a high level quote. I took a bunch of pictures, drafted an email with all the details and sent it over. I waited two weeks to get a response and finally called back to check on the estimate. After being transferred to the owner, I asked him if he taken a look and when he would be able to get back. His response 'I will get to it when I get to it'. 3 months later he still has not gotten to it. I get things being busy, but don't make your customers send in info if you have no intent on quoting and don't be arrogant about it. read more

Boucher Energy replaced my "builders-special" oil-fired boiler with a modern, efficient boiler/indirect-water-heater setup. We selected them because Joel came to our house and was very knowledgeable, directly answered all questions - a straight shooter - and we wanted to be sure that whomever installed this fancy new boiler was a trained expert at it. The installation itself is terrific - masterful work, absolutely beautiful. All pipes are parallel, level, plumb; valves lined up; wires neat; pipes insulated. The crew cleaned up nicely. The only negative I have to mention is that nearly everyone we dealt with (esp. the installers) were not terribly customer-friendly. Courteous, professional, efficient, but I almost got the feeling they were doing me a favor by coming to install the thing, and when I went to check on progress I got the feeling I was invading their space. I guess they can get away with acting like "all that" because, hey, they are - the results speak for themselves - but it would be nice if they warmed up a bit to the customer. read more

$265 for a Tune up on my Oil furnace . Highest I've ever paid., And it was just your typical cleaning and inspection, replace filters and nozzle. Doing it myself next time . I also forgot to mention that they sent me a quote to replace my Power vent for my oil furnace. It has some corrosion on it. Quote was $ 1800 to replace. Retail price that I can buy vent is around $280 . Probably a 2 hour job , and thats being generous with time. So hows that for trying to gouge the customer? read more

One of our thermostats stopped working, asked Boucher to fix it, they did. That night 2 other thermostats stopped working. Called electrician friend. Discovered wires on other 2 thermostats connecting to the furnace had been CUT. Will be contacting MA Attorney General for more information. read more

Had central mini-duct AC installed in out older home and the work Boucher did was phenomenal. I received multiple quotes for the same Unico system and they were on the lower-middle of the range for price. Their quality and reputation is what got me to use them instead of cmpetitors. They took the time to work with me on the design and installation of a custom system in an older, non-ducted house. Installation was fast, professional and very clean! This past year was one of the hottest on record, but my house was cool all summer long and my energy bills were lower than when I was using a few window units! Instaling central air is a big decision and I highly reccomend Boucher energy Systems. read more

Due to an issue with blown-in-insulation leaking from old ducts buried in the walls of my home, my last hope short of tearing down walls was to try the Aeroseal process, and I'm pleased to say that I'm elated with the outcome. Way better than I could have hoped for. As mentioned in other reviews, price was a bit more than the few other MA companies that offer Aeroseal, but that's because you're hiring highly trained HVAC technicians which was evident from the moment they arrived! Not only did they perform an outstanding job, they kept the work area extremely clean. This company was highly recommended to my by two different friends but me being the sceptic still gathered many quotes to replace central ac, gas furnace and add zoning to my 2 story house. I completely wasted my time. I could not be happier with the installation and service. From the beginning Joel explained all my options thoroughly and took a lot of time taking measurements, pictures, notes, etc. He spent close to 2 hours at my house where the other companies were in and out in 30 minutes flat to give an estimate. We hired him and his team put in a top of the line variable speed system. They were all courteous, hard working and extremely knowledgeable. These were not plumbers connecting pipes as many HVAC companies seem to be. What impressed me the most was their responsiveness and willingness to our concerns about the system not operating quite like we wanted. Though the new system had no problem cooling our house the upstairs thermostat was not accurate at keeping the set temp and we were getting intermittent whistling from one of the dampers. These are not major problems but most companies would not bother to come back after the install as long as there was cold air coming from the vents. Joel and his team responded the same day every time I contacted them and made 3 different trips back to our house until everything was just right. They replaced the thermostat and were able to adjust the system until the damper noise was gone. The technician who came out each time was as nice on his 3rd visit as he was on the install. I never felt like I was bothering them. This company stands behind their work and has the crew with the skills to fix problems and not just install units. They have been servicing our heating and air conditioning system for seven years , but no longer. We have had an ongoing small leak in the refrigerant line on our second floor unit. This June they refused to refill the system and wanted over $2,000 to replace the line, and $15,000 to replace the system if necessary. I called in another company and for $370.00 Ken refilled the system and injected a sealing compound which stopped the Freon leak. He guaranteed this fix for a year in writing, and stated if the line had to be replaced he would charge me $850.00 and deduct the $370.00 charge for refilling and sealing the system. Well, here it is the end of August and he was here last week to clean both furnaces. Ken decided to check the freon pressure in the system with the sealer, and it was perfect. Needless to say we saved a lot of money and we're lucky to have found a knowledgeable, reasonable priced heating and air conditioning company. read more

They refused to perform a simple refrigerant service for my AC without inspecting my system for leaks at a hefty fee. They said I will most likely need to replace my AC system without even coming out to see the problem. I told them that I knew the leak was very minor and I didn't need the diagnosis/replacement service. They were also not very responsive. Other service providers were happy to add refrigerant at a fraction of the price they wanted to charge for just their diagnosis fee. read more

There work is ok, but they are overpriced and unless you are doing a huge remodel or heating project, they could not care less. When I was revamping the whole home, they were all over me. When I needed smaller repairs or found issues with their install that needed remedy, they could not be bothered. Yesterday, Boucher completed a 3 day install of central air and ductless split systems in our twice expanded cape. Running the the various ducts for the central system was a challenge and I'm very pleased with the result. They took the time to modify closets, shelves and wall spaces in ways that hide the duct work and at the same time preserved the maximum amount of storage space possible. This greatly exceeded my expectations as I had presumed I was going to have to wall-in or rework these spaces myself after the install. The workman were very professional and heads-down workers who arrived at time each morning and cleaned up all spaces at the end of each day. All equipment was fully tested before they left. We're very happy with the result. read more
