Florida Wine Academy - Classes at the Miami Culinary Institute

I met Alessandra at a wine event and learned that her company teaches many classes on wine and even…read moresake. I've been thinking of taking the WSET exam to get some more solid knowledge of wine, and after comparing different places offering the course as well as online options, I decide to take the class here. Located in the SunTrust building, the academy is easily accessible and there's garage as well as street parking around. The class is a small in size so it's good for sharing experience and opinions. Alessandra is readily available to answer questions during and after class, and she gives useful tips in preparing for the exam. The course really helped me in calibrating my palate to the WSET standard, as well as broadening my horizon and introducing me to less common wines, such as Hungarian tokaji and Australian riesling. In the end, I felt that regardless of whether I pass the exam or not, the course was totally worthwhile, because it has given me a lot of knowledge and the tool to better appreciate wine.

What an incredible time I had yesterday at the Florida Wine Academy for my Wine Class…read more I have so many reasons to go back, from the impeccable place, inside and outside, to the wonderful and well-prepared class, directed by Ms. Nicole. She emailed us, two days before, and asked us if we have any food allergies since they will provide some snacks to pair with the wines. She also gave us the address and explained to us how to get there and where to park. I parked in a public garage for $5.00, this was not my best choice, because I'm not used to walking alone downtown, but it wasn't that bad after all. I went into the Sun-trust building, a beautiful tall building. The academy is on the 22nd floor as Nicole told us in her email. Once I got there, we went to this room where she had everything set up as you can see in my pictures, so pretty and organized. That's one of the most important things for me, how well organized and neat everything was. I need all those, in order for me to learn and enjoy myself the way I did. She started the class as a Professor will, telling us about herself and that, made me happy, such a prepared person is teaching me about wine...wow. The way she directed the class, with all the details, from guiding us where to buy wines, to open up our senses. Smell, Taste, and Body, were words we used during the whole class since we learned from her how to categorize each different wine, from all the six we had. As we were learning, smelling, and trying the wines, she also told us how to pair them with food and gave us tips on which wine will go good or better with the food we choose. With the wines we tried, we had some nuts, cheese and crackers, grapes, and dark chocolate...Yummy! They also offer all the 4 levels of WSET classes, plus labs like the one I went and more. You can always call or check their website for more information. Honestly, after trying this class yesterday, I don't feel so embarrassed to try the leveled classes and get my certification, because they way they teach you, you can actually learn and move forward.

So FYI this is my first yelp review ever, I've always used the app but never posted because eh…read more This cooking class is by far AMAZING I had to let everyone know about this place. I would 100% recommend this class to anyone beginners to advanced it's such a great time. A great date night idea as well. So we started the night with some red sangria and ended with white sangria; as for the menu for the night it was tapas, seafood paella and sangria. We had octopus with chimichurri (I'm a very picky eater and I usually don't eat seafood and omg it was SPECTACULAR). We also had garlic grilled lamb chops with mint edamame hummus salad, Brussels sprout salad , chicken kabobs with potato salad, seafood paella, bacon wrapped shrimp everything was delicious. Chef David was amazing he helped us with anything we needed from how to chop onions to cutting lamb chops to cooking octopus. I was astonished after we finished cooking everything we all sat together and ate and talked it was nice like a family dinner (it was a class of about 12 of us we all cooked something different so at the end we all sat down to try everything we all made together). Almost forgot! dessert was given at the end we didn't make it but was so delicious caramel, chocolate, and coffee all mixed just look at the picture. I don't know the name of it sorry. They not only do adult classes, but kids classes, and birthday parties and private parties. Every class is different just go to their website and see what classes they are preparing each day is different. I'll post some pictures so you guys can see

We were able to taste several wines from a variety of regions throughout Italy; some with light pairings, so that we might fully experience the individuality of the selections. Our hosts were beyond knowledgeable and even provided attendees with an opportunity to take notes on each of the wines we were exploring during the evening. At the end of the evening, prices were shared with those at the event -- which were surprisingly reasonable. No pressure to make purchases; just a fantastic evening with great individuals and wine connoisseurs. We will definitely be back.

Wait, the Wine Goddess works here too? Winning! Stefano the owner was also there, always helpful with the different wine varieties as well. I brought up Wine By the Bay a couple months back on the "What's New" Talk Thread when I noticed it'a construction while downtown for a meeting. When Will J beat me to the First to Review, I figured I was slacking off and rushed from Hialeah to review it. Walking out with a package of Buffalo Mozarella and bottle of Prosecco....which even got me in the kitchen this morning as I incorporated some of the mozarella cheese into a caprese salad with prosciutto I had. Light yet creamy in taste it provided a great balance to the sweets I usually have for brunch. I'm saving my prosecco bottle for full moon night tonight! Oh and one more thing, Stefano was nice enough to give me some tissues as the low 70s Miami frozen tundra cold weather caused me some sniffling :)

I booked her in January of 2020 for a birthday. Two of the total six of us had never met before, but the environment Chef Fernanda created was so fun and welcoming that we had so much fun spending the evening all together. I learned a lot with Chef Fernanda about vegan baking and thoroughly enjoyed eating at the end of the night what we all made together. I highly recommend her to carnivores (which I am) and vegans alike. You will enjoy your experience with Chef Fernanda! She's great. Also, the booking process was simple. I could easily see which chefs were available when and see where in my city they were located. It made planning a birthday get-together easy. I highly recommend Cozymeal.

You will definitely learn and you will have a delicious professionally prepared meal at the end. We stated with a basic pasta dough that we kneaded by hand. While the dough rested we enjoyed a delicious fresh salad of greens, carrots, cucumber, and tomatoes just drizzled with aromatic olive oil. Brought back memories of vacations in Italy where we made salad from the veggies growing from our garden. We continued in our pasta making journey by rolling out the dough and passing it through the pasta roller. Chef also demonstrated how to make different shapes of pasta and the history behind them. We the watched him prepare our pasta dinner! This was the most challenging part...mouths were surely watering! We were served pappardelle with mushroom ragout, and ravioles stuffed with truffled ricotta. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious. I loved all the simple ingredients and the light natural flavors. Dessert was chocolate mousse with strawberries and fresh whipped cream! Heaven!! We all left with our very own pasta dough ...and I'm seriously considering practicing what I learned! This was such an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to trying something like this again.
