I was in Newark and had a couple of hours to kill so I decided to get a manicure and pedicure. I found Botanix on yelp and it had good reviews so I went there. I decided to get a full set, which I had never done before, and I knew I had enough time (2 hours). 3 different techs worked on me, which was fine. What wasn't fine was that one would get up and leave with no explanation of where they were going. Unfortunately, after waiting 10 minutes, I looked to see him working on someone else. This happened twice. What was totally unacceptable to me was that they did not communicate with me. Also, they hurt me 4 different times between the 3 techs. I have never experienced that ever. After informing them that I had to be somewhere at 1pm, I finally left 2 hours and 10 minutes later. BTW, I was late for my next appointment. read more

The first time I went it wasn't the best but the second time he was very through, I told him how they were too thin the last time and kept breaking so he did a technique that will definitely keep me from losing a nail this time around. In the past, the staff has been very nice and patient with the people who come into Botanix, and I have been happy with the job they have done on my nails. Recently, the wait has been hours and this place is not managed well. Don't bother making an appointment, we had one for 3:30 and didn't sit down until 4:15, and didn't leave until around 6:30. Walk ins would come in and sit down before appointments were done. They don't have one person doing your nails, the staff rotates because they all have their own "specialties" which makes the process much longer. Think of an assembly line. Prices are pretty fair but if your in a time crunch, don't go here. If you have all day, go for it. Probably not going back. read more

What a wonderful Friday afternoon here! Karen, Andy and the entire team are amazing. They were packed with weddings and proms and still made time to take me as a walk in. I had a wonderful pedicure with a beautiful design. Then I was going to do just a regular acrylic full set, but Karen recommended doing gel. They all took their time making sure everything looked perfect. I was getting my nails done for vacation and now I can't wait to hop on the plane and enjoy my time in sun with these beauties! The last time I went I waited 40 minutes before I was even seen. They were taking people before me who didn't even have an appointment. This was the worst nail experience of my life. I called and made an appointment for 12:00 for a full set and a gel manicure for my friend. I said on the phone that I had class to make sure I would be taken at 12 because in the past they have taken a lot of time to start and I was assured that I would be taken right at 12. We got there early and already knew what we wanted. After 25 minutes one lady did both me and my friends buff to start the process and put on my tips then walked away. 10 minutes later a lady started working on my friend. In the meantime two people came in after 12:30, one with a full set as well, and they were both taken care of before me. Then at 1:01 someone came over to me trying to begin my nails I had to explain that I did not have time for a full set and that I had an appointment for an hour prior. I asked her to take off what she put on and I left. It was a complete waste of my time and so unprofessional. I don't know how they still have customers. I never leave bad reviews but this was the worst manicure I've ever had. My nail attendant made my cuticles worse than when I came in. More customers came in so she rushed my manicure and missed steps completely. My nails are uneven on the tips. There is nail polish all over my fingers and I had to come home and have my roommate fix it. Very disappointing. I understand it's hard times but this was an issue not related to Covid at all. I don't want to hate on an entire business based on one attendant and one experience, that's why I gave 3/5. read more

This is the best nail salon in the area. Karen is great and really gets to know her clients. I have been going to her for 6 months now and I have walked out with a smile on my face every time. I make an appointment every time I go and I have never waited. I think that is really good considering I go every 2 weeks. There have even been a couple of times when I was running late and had to call and Karen was still able to work me into her schedule. I have consistently been going to this salon for the last few months and every single time I have waited for at least 30 minutes. I used to be okay with it because the manicure was decent and for a good price, but it has gotten out of hand. They like to do this thing where one person removes the old nails, someone else shapes them, someone else paints them, and someone else does the lotion. Each time they switch, you wait ten minutes. I was there for over two hours for an acrylic fill. They also have been price gauging. I was overcharged $45 for a fill when it is normally around $35. Not worth your time (a lot of it) or money. read more

The first two times I went there everyone was very friendly although they did cut corners during my manicure. They use venmo instead of a regular charge, which I don't mind if it saves them money, but they are very pushy with the tips and remind you constantly that they expect a tip. I was irritated by the time I paid and actually gave less of a tip than I normally would have. The last time I went in I had the same two girls that did adequate mani/pedis for the last 3 months and I could tell they were irritated about something and seemed to purposely do a horrible job. The whole staff showed tons of sympathy for my poor experience at the other salon and they spent an hour and a half re-doing my manicure and making it perfect. I didn't catch the guy's name who did my nails, but he was so friendly and we talked the whole time. Incredibly talented nail artist. Very reasonable price ($30 for a gel manicure, and that included removal of the old gel). Also, great selection of gel colors (all of them are very classy, wearable colors). He is fast, got the shape perfect and made the nail thin (not gross and clunky)! He was really fast, but the young girl they sent to paint the gel on my nails moved incredibly slow. It took her almost forty minutes to put on three coats of polish. And the polish was streaky, uneven and had lint!! She took all of that time and they still weren't perfect. Wow, this is a hidden gem! I was recommended by a friend after we both tried multiple places in Newark, Delaware. I would have never found it otherwise! It's a relatively small space, but the decor is serene and peaceful. They have extensive amount of regular/gel colors + a large menu of services they offer. The owner is very sweet and gave me 10% as a promotion. They also have loyalty cards which offer more promotions when you visit multiple times.
