A nice taste of home near the Northeastern campus. It kept this Lebanese girl satisfied in between trips out of town for mom's home cookin'. $5 a pop for their delicious wraps. All I can say is this. My friend and I popped in here one evening after gallivanting around the MFA and trying to quiet down that hangry voice in our stomachs. We ordered two chicken shawarmas, and to our delighted surprise, found some fries in them as we ate our shawarmas on the benches outside on a balmy summer night. Friend: "What's this? Did they drop some fries in here accidentally?" Me: "Maybe...I didn't get any." *insert sadface emoji* ***2 minutes later*** Me: "Oh shit! I found some fries!" *makes face similar to when you find $5 on the sidewalk* I walk in to throw our trash away, and the nice man behind the counter asks, "How did you like your sandwiches?" Me: "OH MY GOD, there were fries in them. Did you accidentally drop them in there?" Man: "Oh, I forgot to tell you they were in there. We put a layer of fries in them. Did you not like them?" Me: "No! We loved them! It was the best surprise I've ever gotten in food." So, gentlemen. If you ever want to propose to your lady...All I have to say is, drop some fries in a chicken shawarma, throw a ring in there, and if she's smart, there's no way in hell she could say no. Disappointment. Lamb/beef shawarma is under seasoned and is not authentic shawarma- it's gyro meat. I could've gone to a Greek place if I wanted a gyro... The guy initially refused my credit card for my $7 sandwich- saying no credit cards for less than $10. I put my credit card away and gave him a $10 bill instead. He very annoyingly asked if I had singles instead. When I said no he asked for the credit card back.... Very strange. Bad service and bad food. read more

I got a shawarma salad with lamb that definitely wasn't supposed to be over greens but that's how I got it. Meat was okay, a little on the dry side but a generous portion. I like how the salad also came with some pita, tahini sauce, and a divine garlic sauce (though I recommend a minimum of two pieces of gum after). But I've had the falafel here and... no. They put some spice in there that makes me want to scratch my head. I never actually get around to doing it but I want to. It's just OKAY Middle Eastern. I got spoiled in New York City and I know for a fact there are better joints than this. But I don't expect other Northeastern students to know this. So they can just stay at BS. Where do I begin about this restaurant. Got a lot of memories about this place from the time I was a student at NEU. Lamb shawarma used to be my dinner whenever I used work night shifts as a proctor at the university. The shawarmas here are full of flavor and filling. Boston Shawarma is in the Northeastern area, a short walk up Huntington Avenue from the MFA. Five stars because the price is low for food this tasty, and because it's my favorite place to have lunch in the area. In many ways it's a typical Middle Eastern cafe, but typical Middle Eastern cafes are great values, and Boston Shawarma is above average. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered there, and I doubt you can go wrong. The falafels are some of the best I've ever had. read more

Yummy and affordable shawarma! The perfect end to an afternoon at the MFA, Boston Shawarma is a quick walk from the museum. There were about six tables and a seating counter next to the window. It's a low key place, and it's about the food, not the atmosphere. On top of the desserts case they had free samples of some kind of sweet. I don't remember the name of it, but it was really good, and you could take as many pieces as you wanted. The lamb shawarma wrap me and my boyfriend each had was big - one would have been enough to feed two - but I ate all of mine because it was so good. It is spicy; so be forewarned - and they didn't have any free water that I could see (although they did sell bottled water). It also gets messy, since the sauce and some of the fillings tend to fall out as you are eating. Just get some extra napkins and you'll be fine. For dessert, we had the basbousa and the baklava. Very very sweet, as Middle Eastern desserts tend to be, but it was a great end to the spicy meal. The rice pudding looked really good too, but I didn't get a chance to try it. I'd definitely go back! Stopped in here before a concert at New England Conservatory. It's not fancy by any means, but it's homey (if a little run-down) and seemed authentic (always a good sign in an ethnic restaurant when you feel overly white compared to the rest of the clientele). I liked my falafel dinner- the falafel had good texture and flavor, although with the enormous pile of rice (light, fluffy, basmati-seeming) it could have used a bit of extra tahini perhaps. My boyfriend really liked his beef & lamb shawarma plate (although beware the after-dinner shawarma burps-- they are potent!). There's a definite charm to the owner (I assume) and the handwritten sign "U LIKE MY FOOD - WRITE ABOUT US" -- here I am :) Wish they didn't use styrofoam, even for eat-in :( but what can you do. Good shawarma. I like the chicken shawarma plate with "the spicy sauce". I'd recommend paying with cash though, because me and my friends had our credit cards over-charged on more than one occasion. I'm not a huge fan of the occasional belly dancing / middle-aged Arab lady singing on their TV, but some people seem to enjoy it. Oh, their baklava is good. Yummy shawarmas for an affordable price. Great for the local Northeastern students. Besides their chicken shawarma, I am in love with their homemade baklavas! They are very generous in size and are affordable ($1.75). Most places sell their baklavas for a very high price so I was delighted when I saw Boston Shawarma sell HOMEMADE baklavas for a reasonable one. They also have walnut baklavas, coconut baklavas and other sweets for a little higher price (around $2.50/piece). Though they did a mini-remodeling recently, the atmosphere of the restaurant is VERY casual so do not take your date here! It's more for students in the area grabbing a quick, substantial and valuable dinner/lunch. read more

We went here after going to Moby Dick and being told they didn't have any kabob or persian food. Disappointed we walked down a block to Boston Shawarma. Boston shawarma has great shawarma and the portions were huge. We tried the lamp, beef, and chicken. Basically two orders fed four of us. They also have fool (fava beans) which was a nice surprise. The chicken is always tender, and the large shawarma sandwiches leave me full for hours on end. I find this borderline miraculous, as I otherwise eat once every 2-3 hours. I always feel like I get bang for my buck at Boston Shawarma. Furthermore, I think the owner here is very nice. Recently, I was standing besides my fiance as he ordered a sandwich. I wasn't hungry enough to justify ordering a meal, but I offhandedly commented that their rice puddings looked delicious and that we should get that for dessert next time. As other reviews have said, it's not a *nice* restaurant but the food is fantastic. They have a summer special: you get a free can of soda or bottle of water with every shawarma! They also had a rose rice pudding $5 that I really wanted to try but thought I'd save it for next time. Definitely still open--not sure why it's tagged as closed... I've been quite a few times and I usually stick to the combo with lamb/beef. It's a wrap literally STUFFED full of tasty meat, falafel and other miscellaneous fixings. The pita is good--not too dry. The meat is good quality (again, my fav is the lamb...you just can't go wrong with that lamb). The falafel is good. The same guy is always behind the counter when I stop by for lunch and he's ALWAYS very nice--don't listen to the other people who say that he's not. They DO take credit cards and have for at least the last year since I started going. I never carry cash and I've never had a problem. Yeah, maybe it's not the nicest interior...but people who say it's not clean are probably just put off by a simple interior and being able to look right into the kitchen area. It's definitely not dirty. The food itself would get a solid 3.5 stars but I have to round up for the price. A huge wrap is just under $7 and I can barely finish it...and trust me, I can eat a LOT. Seems like all the places around Northeastern like to charge an arm and a leg for food that really shouldn't be that much...but I can always count on a filling AND inexpensive lunch here. So maybe those who like to get overpriced, generic sandwiches from up the street (ahem, Temptations) won't like Boston Shawarma...and that's fine. More lamb for me. read more

I ordered through Uber eats the go combo dinner and just everything was bad. The delivery man had a huge hole in his carry bag which really bothered me. Then I found that the food container- a styrofoam container was broken and the food was spilled into the plastic bag. The food had a big piece of dirt and there were 2 tiny pieces of French fries. So I don't know who messed up except that I couldn't eat my lunch and I am a bit hangry now. I don't want to eat that food- it may make me sick. Soo think my falafel craving was just shut down. It's food, that's about it. I paid extra for "extra" fries and recieved the same amount as the dish that didn't come with fries. The "salad" was a soggy pile of old rotten lettuce with no dressing. It came in a Styrofoam container, which I haven't seen north of the Mason Dixon line for the better part of a decade. The falafel and babaganoush were actually decent, and there was plenty of it. Overall a pretty mediocre experience, fine in a pinch but there's plenty of better Mediterranean food around the city, if not close by. read more
