My Dad and I used to visit Boston Market (particularly this location and the Delaware Avenue location) quite often during its last few years in business. We had a sixth sense that the chain wasn't doing so good, which was a shame because their recipes for their food were wonderful. They were one of, if not the only, rotisserie chicken restaurants left in town that really put a nice spin on their food's taste ever since Swiss Chalet left Buffalo years ago. I'm aware that Swiss Chalet is still available in Canada, and that you simply need to cross the Canadian border to eat at Swiss Chalet again. But...let's be honest, after September 2001, no one has ever said that crossing the Canadian border is an easy task. Technology has come far, let me tell ya...you can see most every advancement in technology ever made as you slowly drive up to that interview podium on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, recording your every move and every word... But enough about the difficulties of crossing into Canada. Boston Market was previously owned by Sun Capital Partners, before selling the business to the Rohan Group. This is important because Dad and I used to have good memories of Boston Market when the company was owned by Sun Capital, and each firm before that, because those companies knew to keep the food recipes consistently tasty throughout their run. Emphasis on "consistent". Just like how McDonald's makes the same Big Mac recipe at each location, Boston Market used to have standard recipes for how to specifically cook and prepare each food item, so that the taste of each batch of food was consistent with the batch prepared before it. Dad and I were devastated to find out that Boston Market shut down most, if not all, of their locations across the country back in 2023 due to financial problems. And we were just as shocked to find out that Boston Market was making a big comeback in 2025, with the Maple Road location being the first to reopen its doors. In fact, the owner plans to open up to 10 locations across the Buffalo area. Wow! Ten locations? What a deal! Ten spots across Buffalo to enjoy some delicious rotisserie chicken, mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and their decadent (albeit inconsistent in pillowy soft-to-rock hard textured) cornbread! And then came that fateful day when we visited Rohan Group's newly reopened Boston Market on Maple Road... ...the horror... To start off, the employees were scrambling all over the place inside. Dad even saw one employee (with gloves on, at least) digging his hands into some chicken and eating it, multiple times. The employee was in full view of the customers that were ordering. It took about five minutes for the employees to even acknowledge us for an order. Not because they were hiding in the back. They fully saw us. They were just fidgeting around with slowly fulfilling other orders while consistently ignoring us. An employee tried three times to reach into the glass case to pick up a hot metal tray of creamed spinach, without any gloves on to protect her from potential burns. The menu and side items looked a little different through the (smaller) glass case, but at first I thought it would be fine, as long as the food tasted the same as it used to when Sun Capital owned it. After ordering, we found out only after paying for my drink that the soda fountain was down, and that we needed to get our drinks via pre-packaged cans and bottles in the freezer up front. This was not only awkward, but now, I was limited to one small bottle of soda with my meal instead of unlimited refills of soda. The food came packaged in this sketchy-looking plastic take-out case, instead of the food being on plates as we were used to, but fine. As long as the food was still the same quality, I'd be fine paying $22 for my 12 oz soda and my take-out case filled with food. Oh, God...I have to talk about the food now... Remember when I said that Sun Capital's Boston Market used to make the chicken taste so good and unique (which was the main reason we came back to eat there)? Well, not any more! The rotisserie chicken, the main star attraction of the place, now tastes like a generic Tops Market rotisserie chicken that you can buy for like $6. And what baffles me even more than the change in taste is that you're still paying as premium of a price for your chicken at Boston Market now as you were back when Sun Capital owned it! Gotta love that post-Covid inflation pricing! Sun Capital's Boston Market was already expensive enough, but at least you knew you were paying for quality. And this isn't quality. Went to the re-opened Boston Market -Maple Rd- tonite. Not too busy, but not sure the re-opening is well known. Staff is pleasant enough, service is good. Food isn't bad, not as good as I remember, but pretty good. Owner needs to bring in some personall that remember how Boston Market used to be run. Just need to give it some time. Boston Market is one of the chains that will always have a special little place in my heart. I remember coming here as a kid and ordering the light piece chicken combo, I thought it was incredible. Now, at 30 years old I still occasionally get the urge to come back and order the same thing. I stopped in last Saturday night this location was absolutely packed (who would of knew?). I ended up waiting in line a little bit (good for them for being busy still) but before you know it I was ordering a half light chicken combo with mashed potatoes with gravy and some macaroni and cheese. The reason I was most pleased with my visit was just how friendly the staff was. The employee working the register apologized for the wait (which I didn't even think was bad) and gave me a free cup to fill up with a pop of my choice! Overall, I'm giving Boston Market 4 stars based on it being a great Boston Market, not a fantastic establishment with the best food you'll ever eat. I did enjoy the chicken, it was actually pretty flavourful and juicy. The mashed potatoes were also pretty good, and the same can be said about the macaroni and cheese. Boston Market is a solid American chain that gets the job done if you want a decent priced lunch or dinner in a quick time span. I enjoyed my stop and I think you would too! read more

Fantastic staff. Helpful, courteous. I had the chicken pot pie with cornbread and a side of loaded mashed potatoes. About $13. Decent. Pros: I loved the mashed potatoes. Delicious. The chicken in the pot pie was fantastic. Relatively tender with a nice flavour. Cons: cornbread though nice wasn't as great as I've tried before. The crust on the pie was disgusting. I threw it away. It wasn't flaky, just hard and thrown over. Too much space between the crust and the chicken. Hence the 3 stars instead of 4. Overall though not as bad as I was lead to believe reading the reviews. read more

It should be called "Boston Mark-up" because their prices seem to go up by a few dollars every single year. I can't think of a more overpriced diner chain. Seriously. Maybe Red Lobster. Overpriced and overrated - tried this location once, won't be returning. Have tried it several times since though, but only picking up food for friends. I ate here in 2011, and then only since then for pick ups for other people. Boston Market might not taste particularly bad to everyone (it does to me), but you have to consider their food is identical, pre-packaged, frozen, generic, and made to specific corporate guidelines in all of their stores, same as any other chain. Support a family diner instead... better food and better for your inner peace too. My friend Krista used to work here I think. Her turtle Miles was the most adorable thing I ever saw so initially I gave this place a 2 instead of a 1 in his memory. I still miss Miles and love him. But having tried the food here again more recently (running errands for friends and old ladies) I have to say it's even more awful and microwaved than I remember it, and I don't know why people like it, but they're entitled to, just as I'm entitled to give it 1 star. read more

In Los Angeles, Boston Market restaurants are considered a treat. In Austin, there is literally only 1 location (and it had issues). Here in the Buffalo area, I wanted to try the local Boston Market and was amused at a strange hybrid between fast-food and sit-down. I walked in to place my order. A young woman with the highest voice I ever heard took my order - her voice sounded like she should be a Disney character. I ordered a 3-piece dark meat dinner. But then she handed me off to a young man to cash me out, and suddenly I was faced with Grumpy! The guy challenged and barked at every part of my order as if he were a drill sergeant: "Is that what you ordered?!" "Are those your sides?!" "Out of $10?!" (a deduction worthy of Sherlock Holmes as I handed him a $10). "Where do you want to sit?!" When my meal arrived, I looked at the tiny, shriveled pieces of chicken - it's a better deal to order a half-chicken meal. The meat wasn't piping hot, my sides - 2 vegetables - were overcooked like canned veggies. There is no place for you to take your plates - the staff will clear it for you. Overall, it's an odd experience with so-so food, a generally clean restaurant, but a service repertoire that is really rough around the edges. read more

Say what you want about Boston Market, but I enjoy their rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes. When I've come here in the past, I've eaten in the dining area. This is not the cleanest dining area and the booths are old, broken, and uncomfortable, but it's a place to sit. I'm not really a fan of how they bring your food to you now. It's kind of weird, but whatever... I usually just stick to the chicken and potatoes (their creamed spinach is good too!) but today I went through the drive-thru and ordered a combo- half sandwich and side for $6.49. This didn't include a drink, but I usually have my insulated tumbler full of cold water and on me at all times. Anyway, the drive-thru response seemed to take too long and their credit card machine was "slow" when I got to the window to pay (good thing I had cash on me). I ordered half of a chicken carver and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. YUM YUM YUM. Sandwich was on very soft poppy seed bread, chicken was warm and tasty. Honey mustard sauce (I think?) was good. I could have done without the wilted lettuce and tomato but they were okay. Potatoes were hot, peppery, and delicious and the gravy was the same! This was a welcome meal, as I usually make my way to Weg's for the salad bar. Was good to change it up and I LOVE mashed potatoes so I was happy! Ok, the food is just like any other Boston Market, but the service was HORRIBLE. First they didn't have any of the sides made. Second they guy behind the counter was acting like he was on crack. The location was dirty and the bus station was overflowing on to the ground, like they weren't concerned in the least bit that there was food all over the floor. So, my recommendation, pick up a family meal in the drive through, don't set foot indoors. read more

I love Boston Market, and they have all closed where we live so I was excited for the opportunity to stop on our recent road trip. This particular Boston Market, however, was a disaster. The website said they are open til 10, but I called to double-check and they told me they were closing at 8. Good thing I called. So we scrambled over and found one employee sitting on the counter, another standing around eating behind the counter, and one dressed completely not in uniform in a Victoria's Secret Pink get-up. There appeared to be no supervisor/manager on duty whatsoever, as if the place was being held together by a handful of 17-year-olds. Our food was cold and dry, and they were conspiring about closing up shop early as we were standing there (which explains the discrepancy between the posted hours and what the girl told me on the phone). I walked up to the non-smiling, unfriendly looking faces at the front counter only to be greeted with an extreme lack of any enthusiasm. Not only were the 5 bored employees fairly rude, but the prices were fairly steep. I then sat to eat this over priced food hoping that it would be worth the price. They could have replaced my food with cardboard and I wouldn't have known the difference. So between the flavorless food, horrible service and the filthy bathrooms, I suggest you stay away. read more

I've been passing by this place for five years and finally decided to stop in and get a bite after the gym. I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner! Not only was my order taken by the most genuinely nice staff, they brought my food right to my table. The food itself is absolutely delicious. Always good chicken- and a great value - I order pizza and wings delivered a lot, and always drop about $45.00 or so.. Went to this store last night and met the nicest group of people ever. Chicken wasn't quite done, and for waiting I was treated to free soup, and on top of that walked out with free carrot cake, a tin of brownies, and an also scored a free extra whole chicken for $1.99. The total bill? $27.00. 2 Chickens, 4 large sides. Chicken was delicious as always, and the desserts were as well. I would recommend grabbing a home-cooked family meal here. read more

The food is good and the price is great especially when you have the receipt. But when you're ordering out and in a rush, I can't believe you have to remember to ask for utensils. I ate here a while back ago wait let me restate that I tried to eat here. I order ribs they came out pink as in not cooked. I had a conversation with the manager and he told me this is the way they were supposed to look? He even said he could show us paperwork on this but never bothered to show us the paperwork. My husband had what the restaurant called chicken however it was more like a pile of grease on a bone. My daughter ordered the children's meatloaf . I've seen better meatloaf at a school. No way in heck was she going to eat that. The sides mashed potatoes looked like they sat around all day in a tub, oh I know why they looked like that because they did sit around all day in a tub. The corn was cold and looked Discolored. The cornbread was as hard as a rock I wouldn't even give this to Charlie Brown on Halloween. We couldn't eat this stuff, we try not to waste food as we know people are starving in other places so we took this home to our dog, our dog eats just about anything but she wouldn't eat this. I have been to Boston before and I feel that putting the name Boston in this restaurant is a disgrace to the people of Boston. If for some reason you accidentally walk into this place and hear the words welcome to Boston market by a bunch of unmotivated workers run the other way as fast as you can! We had a terrible experience with Boston Market. I spoke with the young lady who answered the phone on Monday prior to Thanksgiving and explained I was having Grub Hub pick up food for my uncle and aunt who are housebound on Thanksgiving day. She confirmed the food would be ready to eat. I called her a second time to ask about a larger package to be delivered and she confirmed the information. Grub Hub was denied the ability to pick up the food on Thanksgiving due to a policy of no on line orders on Thanksgiving. I called and spoke with Brad (asst mgr) and explained my situation -trying to at least getting the order prepared so I could get it picked up by another source. Brad said he was too busy to talk to me about it -it was a glitch in the system that allowed me to order. He said Darren -store manager - was too busy to talk to me. I had a five minute notice of order being cancelled. I had to deal with this from Mississippi. Thank goodness for people at other restaurants. read more
