It struck me that the four-month Boston Lights lantern sculpture exhibition was worthy of a Yelp entry separate from Franklin Park Zoo. It was Jamie W's first trip to Boston, and I had not been back in thirty years, so I was wondering what would be an appropriate thing to do on our first night in the city. Certainly not a trip to the city zoo, but we do dig light shows. I just happened to be watching a random vlogger's Boston weekender video on YouTube and was entranced by the concept of Boston Lights. We took advantage of the Plan Ahead Pricing and reserved a 7:30PM check-in on our first night for the discounted admission price of $24 per person. We were staying in the South End, so we ended up getting an Uber to make the 1/2-hour trip to the zoo on time. It was an expansive, immersive experience covering 72 acres of the zoo grounds. Dominated by a huge variety of flora and fauna lantern displays, the pathway was connected by immersive walkthroughs and even more elaborate and interactive displays encompassing mammoth temples and gigantic animals. Themes appeared to be laid out geographically - India, South America, under the sea. There were random interactive exhibits throughout which were specific for younger visitors, primarily musical instruments and hopscotch light boards. Of course that didn't stop us from striking the xylophones ourselves. There were also off-kilter photo frames set up to capture Instagram moments that will look like everyone else's. Overall it was quite an impressive installation running from August 2 through November 3. RELATED - Exploring Boston? Wow! That's all I gotta say about Boston Lights. I was in awe at every turn. You won't see many animals and the food wasn't that great, but the lanterns were beautiful and so worth it!

It ended up being one of the best choices of our trip. Pros: The atmosphere is intimate in the best way, and the staff was incredibly attentive from start to finish. The price point was great, especially considering that the food was absolutely phenomenal--truly the best meal we had in Boston. The place was packed for a random Wednesday night, which says a lot. Cons: There honestly aren't many. If I had to pick one, it would be that the restaurant is definitely on the smaller side, so seating can feel a bit tight. Also, watching people attempt parallel parking outside was unintentionally hilarious--not a complaint about the restaurant, just free entertainment. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend giving Molinari's a try. They were amazing, and if (or really, when) we come back to Boston, we'll definitely be visiting again.

Pros: great size, fair price, really cool flavor combinations. Cons: not generous with the "fancier" toppings (like the meatballs on my pizza), flavorless crust, too floppy, overwhelming garlic on mine. I think we would give them another chance because I really haven't found any pizza places that impress me here and they are great price and size for sharing.
