Driving through Winthrop you get a beautiful view of the ocean. Despite its small town charm, there are a few drawbacks like only two roads in and out and it's not really accessible by public transportation. It has multiple beaches and is filled with mom-and-pop businesses. Every so often I'll go to Winthrop for Blackstrap BBQ.

I had this on my sightseeing list for my visit to Boston, it was nice getting to check off two spots at once since I was coming to Boston Commons to start my self guided tour of the freedom trail. Embrace is the first of many sculptures you'll ended up coming across while you're on the path of the freedom trail.

That's how we discovered the statue known as "The Embrace" and learned that it was a monument reflecting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King's love and time together in the city where they met. The statue is very creative, I mean how unusual is it to see a memorial dedicated to two very famous people that doesn't include their faces? Instead, the Embrace represents a hug and the greater meaning of love. The bronze monument is 20-feet tall and 25-feet wide. There are walls near the monument inscribed with quotes from the Kings, including this from Coretta Scott King: "Love is such a powerful force. It's there for everyone to embrace--that kind of unconditional love for all humankind. That is the kind of love that impels people to go into the community and try to change conditions for others, to take risks for what they believe in".

This was my first visit to The Town of Stoneham. It is Tuesday and driving through Stoneham it's a…read morebusy day. Cars, trucks and all types of other vehicles just bustling through town like everybody knew where they were going except us. Nice little town and our guide was our cousin, who was giving us directions on how to get to what remains of the farm. We were given directions to Franklin Street where the farm house still exist. I always wanted to visit here because of the history that was told to me by relatives. The farm house still looks beautiful and is very well kept. We were told that the house had been here since 1749, and the original owner was Elisha Knight. I will probably never make it back here but, at least I got my chance in time to visit here. It started raining on Tuesday and it is chilly outside but, the colors on the maple trees are gorgeous and very picturesque to say the least. I have no clue of what to give this review since I would be playing favorites. I hope some of you make it here on the same time of year as I did.

I grew up in Stoneham and wouldn't ever say the people here are a bunch of "blue collar, no class" because has he even been to Stoneham? There are the rich snobby families just like anywhere else. Where did this guy grow up? Okay driving down Main St isn't the whole thing buddy. I believe every town has a Main Street, no? Am I wrong? Are no other towns are busy on their main road? Hmm so weird. We're right on two major highways, how is this not a perfect location. About or less than a ten minute drive once on 93 to Boston; without traffic; ehhm, how is that beat? My neighborhood has a neighborhood feel. If you're a crab and don't talk to people or aren't friendly, yes, you won't have a neighborhood feel. But in my neighborhood, we're always at someone's BBQ or bon fire.. 4th of July, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else besides in my neighborhood. So many festivities to participate in! The school systems are.. from what I know, semi improving since recent years. All new elementary schools and I pray the Middle School is next. I am 24, so I am unaware of the school systems now since I have been out of that for a while and also not looking because I don't have children. If my parents were to leave me their house, I'd gladly accept it and raise my family here. And to say to get to Revere.... buddy; pathetic. We're like four towns over, get your geography right, jerk off.

Awesome little island off of Boston - it seems to contain really cool range of habitats from a…read moremarsh to beaches to forest-y areas. The entire island is probably only a 20-30 minute walk long, and a good amount of it disappears during high tide. There's a lot to explore on the island and a good deal of flora and fauna, and there seems to be a multitude of seashells no matter where you are. The beaches are very rocky and the water tends to be very cold. We saw a large number of birds and reptiles, but there doesn't seem to be any mammals on the island other than small rodents. There are many campsites, from smaller clearings to very large openings that could fit a large event like a wedding. There're quite a few picnic tables and benches as well, but no garbage cans or the like. Walking on the island can be a bit of a pain - there are shells and rocks everywhere, and some of the paths get very hilly and slippery, especially if it's rained recently. Lovells is definitely a camping/hiking kind of island - there are no amenities/stores to be seen and I only saw one public restroom the entire time I was there. The Boston skyline is visible when the sky is clear, and the sunset over the ocean looks amazing.

There are several tables for picnics, and a few Adirondack chairs scattered about to chill out on. Another option to get to Grape Island other than from Boston is to take the ferry directly from Hewitts Cove located at the old Hingham Shipyard on the South Shore, the ferry takes about 15 minutes to get to Grape Island from there without transfer, you should be able to swim it in 10 minutes though, with combat boots on! To be fair, the boat is a small pontoon boat and not one of the larger ferries, the crews are pretty friendly & informative. If you go on the weekend and the office or gangway shack are both closed just wait at the dock, the boat will arrive as advertised. It hits Grape Island and then out to Bumpkin, Peddocks, and then finally George's, all for $14, so get up early and try to visit at least two in one day. This summer the rangers (very friendly also, must be all non -natives :) are offering guided kayak tours on Weds, Thurs, Sat, & Sunday, I believe on a first come first serve basis, one guide and four visitors. They also offer nature photography sessions if a ranger is available and on request. Enjoy!

This was my first camping experience and I really enjoyed it but…read more.. 1) my group had 2 campgrounds in the group section and both areas were extremely slanted. It was hard to get comfortable and I woke up multiple times at night sliding down my tent. 2) only one of the three bathrooms were working. Luckily there weren't that many people so other than my group, there wasn't a long line. 3) the map wasn't very helpful. There were alot of trails not on the map. It's a small place so we didn't get lost but we had less than 24 hours on the island so it would have been nice to have a more accurate map.

They were Chinatown residents who were always trying to improve residents' lives. The playscape has many holes for kids to climb into and a slide. It's placed on green turf.
