Cool neighborhood park in Quincy…read more I'm in town for work and wanted to get outside for a walk since the weather is so nice this week so I decided to Google parks nearby and saw this was only a few blocks from me. As I drove into the park, I noticed the playground to my left. As I drove in further, I noticed several trails both on my right and left side. As I pulled in a little further, I noticed a softball game going on. I then pulled all the way to the back of the park and decided to park and walk through some of the trails. There are many different trails intertwining throughout the park. This is a great place to walk the trails, bring your dogs, bring the kids to play at the playground, great place to work out or just to come and relax.

This is a park whose natural beauty, landscaping, Fall color and tranquil setting is worth seeing and visiting in all seasons. I posted four of a dozen pictures I took and I think they say it all. I'll add this place to Arnold Arboretum as one of the places I go to photograph and walk. Give it a view. You won't be disappointed.

It's got plenty of free parking, small park for the kiddos, a viewing area for the marsh, beach side is small but nice for picnic and swim. Plenty of geese and ducks that leave their natural presents all over the beach haha but that's nature. It's def a chill spot, i normally only ever went there as a meeting point when we are riding our motorbikes and meeting up with other friends. There are porta-potty bathrooms available between the beach and the kids park. Looks to be area for food vendors but don't know if it's going to open for the summer or not haha.

Great fishing spot - once the flounder capital of the world. Make sure to read the placards placed all around the park to learn some history of the "island" (now completely land connected) to Quincy. There always seems to be a strong breeze here, bring a kite. The funny thing about this place is that it shares land with the MWRA which operates a large sewage plant here, don't worry you can't smell anything but fresh air. What's priceless is with a multimillion dollar plant on site you have to use one of the portable johns if mother nature calls, so "Boston".

This time of year before it gets REAL chilly in the northeast is the best time to go. You can easily take the rail out here from the city. There are some elevation changes more in the downtown square and just so much to look at! Sweet running store in the area that does social runs! Incredible food and coffee too. What more could you ask for? Pretty houses here as well and it is an affluent part of New England so just fun to browse and see the sights. This area was a pleasant surprise and (the Texan in me) can't wait to visit during warm weather!

It is surrounded by old growth trees and higher end residential neighborhoods. Aside from the small amount of traffic on Eliot Street, it is quiet and peaceful. The 5 acre park has a nice set of playground equipment and features a little league sized baseball diamond. There's also a very small "Free Little Library" outlet here. There is parking here for perhaps a dozen cars if they do so with care.

It isn't named that now, but everyone still calls it that, even tho' it's been renamed. The reason it was renamed Union Point was due to different towns having partial parts of them inside it, but it's generally South Weymouth. For years, you could still walk around, and take your pets here. There were some incredibly awesome high end playgrounds of the highest quality, but they are all fenced off now. Now, there are a lot of new roads, bike trails, foot hiking trails, and the canal that snakes throughout neighborhoods like Greentree, Gaslight Village, and other areas also runs through South Field which then flows into Weymouth Great Pond reservoir which is where all of the running water comes from. This canal also has a wide open section that resembles a small reservoir lake where wild life likes to haunt. There are a lot of types of wildlife lurking everywhere: wild turkey flocks, orals, gold finches, Eastern Coyotes, foxes, wild geese, sparrows, hawks, kestrels, blue jays, cardinals, robins, ducks, herons, cranes, seagulls, feral cats, lots of rabbits, skunks, and moles. Probably lots more, but those are the most common ones I've seen. The best times of year to shoot photography are on sunny days in the spring (which are rare) because the sakura cherry blossoms are in bloom. But hurry, because the rain comes out of nowhere and knocks the petals down quickly. Summer is pretty good as well, but you will get a different look earlier in the summer than middle and end. The fall is also a fantastic time to shoot photos. It's usually pretty warm in the fall as well. Some people tell me they like sledding here in the winter. But, I never do that. I don't like the cold. Unfortunately, there used to be shaded picnic tables by Shea Field Memorial Grove, but some cold heartless demon chained them upside down after Hurricane Sandy, and then finally got rid of them. So, no picnics for you guys! Hmph! But, there's a dog park with portable restrooms now, and you can also go to the Aircraft Hanger now called "The Hang Out" and get drunk if you have cash. There's events here every weekend. You can also ride your bike, and the set from "Ghost Busters" is around here as well.
