Finding ourselves in the area one chilly afternoon Fall/Winter, we decided to check out Pond Meadow Park. Hours of Operation and Parking Information according to the website: Entrance gates open at 9:00 am and will close at posted time in the park.  The entrance gates are closed all day on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. From Weymouth, vehicle parking is available in the parking lot off Summer Street.  From Braintree, vehicle parking is available in the upper lots near the park office, and the lower lots near the start of the bike path. We arrived from the Braintree side and the time posted at the gate was 9am - 4:15pm. No trespassing after dark. We noticed parking by a covered picnic table area and jumped on the paved walking path from there. The path was divided by paint. Bikes, rollerblades, skateboards to the left and clockwise one way around the pond, pedestrians to the right, though the paint line disappeared after a while. I appreciated the paved path since it kept us from walking on the grass, and hopefully away from the ticks that some posted signs by the map were warning us about. We only went 15 minutes in before turning around, but found it pleasant but hilly, and ran across several other walking pairs - some with leashed dogs (in accordance to the rules), and no bikes. I did notice two bagged poop alongside the path though, one hanging from a tree at shoulder level. Watch the time if you come. Most of the parking was within the gates which will be locked at sunset. But if you walked in, you'll still be able to get out. read more

A great place to go for a walk or jog. It also has trails that you can explore as well. I enjoy coming here with the kids. It's a great way to burn off some energy, clear your head, and enjoy the nature without having to go somewhere far. read more

Great walking area and trails. There's a main walking area that's paved and clear as well as separate trails throughout that all connect to the main walking area. The trails are great for a light hike and some have little bridges in them to walk over. Nice view of the pond throughout. Picnic tables available, parking, and the main path is stroller and wheelchair accessible. read more

Pond Meadow is a beautiful, family-friendly park that has entrances in both Braintree and Weymouth. The paved trail is great for running, biking, and walking. Oftentimes there are bunnies roaming about, as well as a family of deer that like to graze in the flower pastures. Great for kids, dogs, bicycles, carriages, etc. read more

I like Pond Meadow park. I walked a few miles after stuffing my face at Kristin's Breakfast & Lunch. I wouldn't recommend bringing a mountain or road bike over here on a weekend if you're a serious rider. There's simply too much foot traffic, and not everyone follows the direction of the loop. You'd be avoiding collisions every minute or so. My only real criticism is that the trail maps are kind sparse and not very detailed! (Eg., where does the blue trail go?). Also, if I found the blue path it's in bad shape - dangerous even, as the bridges are falling apart in the swamp area. Also, it's not very quiet with all the Rte 3 traffic. read more

I love pond meadow park. It is definitely a walking park. There is no jungle gym for kids or anything similar. There is however picnic benches and plenty of grass for playing and a few diferent spots to stop and view the pond from. Its a good place to walk, run or bike in the good weather. It has some small inclines to make it a little more challenging. You can also go off the paved paths into the wooded paths if you want to explore. Good for dogs and strollers as well. read more

Pond meadow is a great park tucked away in braintree/weymouth. One and a half mile walking/running trail through the woods. Dog friendly and a great place for them to get some exercise! It's nice to be able to take the dogs somewhere off the main road! read more

I grew up a few blocks from Pond Meadow so this place holds a lot of memories - picnics with significant others, frisbee with friends, walks with my family. Pond Meadow was also the location of the beginnings of The Great Weight Loss Caper (when I first started getting in shape in 2004, before my gym membership). One loop around the paved (one side is labeled for bikes, the other for walkers/runners) Pond Meadow path is 1.6 miles. There are clear and well placed mile markers around the whole route which I love. The only drawback is that it's pretty hilly - it offers a good challenge (or ass busting workout if you're running) if that's your thing. Pond Meadow has a Braintree entrance and a Weymouth entrance. I believe the Weymouth entrance is just a parking lot, I use the Braintree entrance whenever I go. There is a main office and two-part parking lot when you first drive up to Pond Meadow (Braintree side). The gate is open from 9AM-7PM (spring-summer-and early fall I believe, between daylight savings time). There's a water fountain, Coke machine, and big park map that includes the paved and dirt trails. The park itself is really nice, all green, very clean, well kept. The pond/dam area is a cool place for fishing or feeding ducks. Or walking across the ice in the winter. It's very quiet in Pond Meadow, usually people working out or walking their dogs. I find it to be really peaceful. There are trails (red, blue, green) that are off the paved path. In my experience they are kinda puny and just loop around to where they began. Nothing like Blue Hills or Ponkapoag. I believe the map at the main office will tell you the trail routes but I stick to the paved path. Secondary bonus - the wildlife. You'd think at a place right next to the highway all of the wildlife would be scared deeper into the woods but I've seen many a majestic creature here: deer, hawks, swans! I've also see neato birds, snakes, adorable chipmunks, and some nasty bugs. read more

Love to walk here! Like biking here but too many people don't share the path well, especially when you say "on your left" and they move to their left directly in your path when the paths are clearly marked. Funny at times but so not when you are flying down a hill or barely making it up a steep hill. Some people forget to clean-up after their pets but the majority do remember. Most people share the path well (except for bikers half the time). Better for walkers and joggers than bikers. The paved loop is 1.6 miles. There are 3 trails in the woods. I rarely do them but do one once or twice a year and it's very easy. Love the paved loop and this park! read more

I love Pond Meadow. My parents and grandparents took me here all the time when I was little and I love it. I used to love the alternative nature paths that went through the woods. Some of my best childhood memories are here. Even now when I'm all grown up, I'll bring my dogs here for a nice walk. It's a great place for kids and pets and for anyone looking for a nice, quiet, beautiful walk. Many great photo ops as well. read more

Great place for a walk or bike ride. They have a learning center for kids with camps and plenty of wildlife. I take my dog for a walk here often. There is a main paved trail that split for walking on one side and bicycles on the other. There are a few marked wooded trails as well. read more

Pond Meadow Park is my favorite park. I usually go on the weekends but last Saturday when I was jogging in the path at some point I found a black snake about to cross the path. It was really scary because of its size and thickness. I think it wasn't poisonous but it definitely messed up my love for the park. read more

My family and I love walking around pond meadow. The only issue I have, are the speeding bikes. If it weren't for my kids, I wouldn't care but these guys think they're on the tour de France and come out of nowhere. Not sure what my options are, so I just yell at them to slow down. read more

I love PMP! It's my sanctuary. Great walking/running park. Paved trail loop is just short of two miles. Some hills, and a couple of rather steep grades but they're short in length. Breathtaking scenery between woodlands, wetlands, and meadow. Really well kept by rangers and responsible dog owners who clean up their four legged friends' business. And the fact it has restrooms at the front gate building is a huge plus too! read more

Pond meadow is a really neat place. I had been years ago with my then boyfriend, now husband, a couple times but I couldn't remember it that well. Even though I live 30 minutes away, I drove up here just a couple days ago because I wanted a quiet place to walk with my dog. We live right off a very busy street so quiet walks are not an option, unfortunately. PM was a fantastic change from what we're used to. It was amazing how quiet it was and serene. There were at least 15 cars parked but I walked by only 3-4 people. It was great how we felt like the only ones in there. My dog and I walked the 1.6 mile paved path and I thought it was a great work out. It had some inclines and hills and felt really good. My pup is 16 pounds and I was more tired than she was! The scenery this time of year is beautiful with all the leaves changing colors and falling. Even though it was the low 50s yet sunny the day we went, it was still chilly and felt even cooler with the pond. Overall this is a great place to come walk, jog or bike alone or with your stroller or dog. Really wish we lived closer because I'd come here all the time to walk with my dogs. Not sure how often I'll make the 30 min one way trip up here but occasionally it's definitely worth it! read more

I'm lucky enough to live within a few steps of Pond Meadow Park and never squander a free day by not taking a walk, run or bike ride through this little gem of a park. Not too big but just right for a quick and serene getaway, I like to think of it as Wompatuck State Park's little sibling. The staff of PMP keep the park nice and clean and the trails are always well maintained. Unfortunately, two of the docks on the pond were carried away with the Great Flood Of 2010 earlier this year. They've yet to be repaired so there only remains one dock to walk out and chill or take some great photos of the foliage in the fall. The only possible gripe I'd have about the place is that some people don't realize the path runs clockwise around the park and they tend to cause near collisions with the bicyclists who are using their designated lane. Wish there were a couple of more signs up indicating this to prevent accidents. Also, not all of the dog walkers pick up after their pooches so you tend to have to dodge the landmines. Not exactly a park to go out of your way for, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood - certainly check it out. A nice place to go for a walk in a town that has so much traffic you sometimes forget a place this quiet and nice still exists. You have about a 1 and a half loop to walk or ride your bike. You can enter from either Braintree or Weymouth but we prefer the Braintree entrance. Hopefully the town doesn't allow more development around the park. read more

Quiet, beautiful park with really lovely trails and beautiful views. They also have a lot of holiday events, hay rides and pumpkin painting in the fall, holiday wreaths for sale in the winter. Parking is always easy and there are 2 entrances - Braintree and Weymouth. There's been folks there walking their babies or people biking the trails the times I've been. Very quiet and peaceful. **Be aware that the full trail is I believe 3 miles, so if you are setting out to go straight through you will be walking for some time so throw on some sneakers** read more

This is a great place for an easy stroll or a picnic lunch, and is a bit of a hidden gem, as it is buried on the Weymouth/Braintree line away from the main roads. There are no really dramatic views here (other than some vantage points of the pond) and there aren't enough hills to get much of a workout if that's what you're looking for, but it is a really nice spot for walks and getting away from it all in general. read more

Great park especially for stroller and little kids. There is a paved trail that goes throughout the whole park and some wooded trails that branch off of that. I haven't had a chance to explore those yet but I think they are short little loops. The park isn't too big....took me walking with a stroller about 45 minutes to do the loop from the main parking area back to the car. They also have a set of bathrooms, a little nature area (it wasn't open when I went) and a park office. Being that the trails are paved, I would imagine that it gets a lot of use during the weekend with bikers, runners, etc so I am not sure how crowded it gets but it was a great find for a midweek walk with my daughter. Pond Meadow is one of my favorite parts of my hometown of Braintree. It is perfect for many different activities like walking, running, or picnics. I even shot a short film within Pond Meadow and it provided some fantastic scenery for my film, so I have to thank Pond Meadow for that! Overall it is a very peaceful and welcoming place to enjoy so if you're in the area and would like to take a nice stroll, Pond Meadow is perfect! read more

Amazing Park!!! This is one of braintree's (somewhat) hidden gems. It is a great walk with family and the path is nicely paved. The unpacked paths are also very nice but may be difficult for elderly or small children. read more
