    Plain Bagel
    Ian K.

This place is located on the SE corner of oddly enough, South University Ave and East University Ave on Univ of Michigan campus. The other 2 locations are in NYC. I tried the plain bagel because I always want to know how the basic tastes when I go to new bagel place. This one is better than Bruegger's in my opinion. The bagel was the right chewy consistency. One of the other reviewers commented on the price of $2.50 per bagel which is high. But it was a good bagel. Workers were very friendly.

This New York style bagels style is just opened in Ann Arbor. It offers a nice selection of bagels, bagels sandwiches and nice variety of cream cheese with reasonable price. I ordered the Blueberry, Cinnamon Raisin and the cheese bagels. The taste and texture of the bagels are nice and freshly made in the premises. The cafe is clean and spacious with few chairs along the window. The service is quick and pleasant.

    BEC on everything

As a New Yorker studying in Ann Arbor, I really wanted to love Bo's. All my friends had hyped it up, swearing it was as close as I'd get to a real New York bagel in the Midwest. Sadly, growing up in one of the foremost bagel capitals of the world may have spoiled me more than I realized. To start with what they do well: I ordered ahead on Snackpass, and my food was ready in about five minutes--a speed that impressed me. Even though I picked up my order to go, the shop itself seemed cute: small but cozy, the kind of place that works for breakfast with a friend or a date. And the employee who handed me my order was friendly, especially admirable given the early shift. Unfortunately, the food is where Bo's lost me. I ordered the most classic of classics: a bacon, egg & cheese (BEC) on an everything bagel. The price alone--$9.50--nearly made my New Yorker soul leave my body. I fear the day my friends back home discover this review and see what I willingly paid for a simple BEC. But homesickness makes fools of us all, and I was desperate. My first major issue was the egg. It was rubbery, overcooked, and severely under-seasoned. Normally that last flaw could be forgiven--the bacon and cheese usually pick up the slack--but the texture was so off that every bite became work. Then there was the bagel itself. It looked promising, but one bite confirmed it was suffering the same fate as almost every bagel I've had in Michigan: too thin, stale, lacking that signature chew, and ultimately contributing to a clumpy, unsatisfying mouthfeel when paired with the egg. To Bo's credit, their variety is impressive. They lean fully into the identity of a specialty bagel shop, with more flavors and cream cheese options than most places in town. Some combinations are...creative, to put it politely, but I haven't tried them, so I won't judge too harshly. At the very least, the range of options beats the usual plain/sesame/everything trinity you find elsewhere. Ultimately, Bo's wasn't a terrible experience, and I do think it's probably the best you'll get for bagels in Ann Arbor for a while. But it's clearly a novelty item capitalizing on the fame of New York bagels, and the prices reflect that. At the risk of sounding pretentious, I think you'll probably enjoy it more if you haven't grown up with the real East Coast stuff. And if you do go, take my advice and add sauce--it helps. (Note: this would probably be a 2.5/5, but that's not an option on Yelp. As such, I decided to round up instead of down.)

Welcome to Tree Town, Bo's! They have locations in NY: Harlem and Washington Heights to be specific, and their latest location is right on University Ave. I cannot tell you how excited I am to have a legit NY bagel spot here! Some highlights: *ALL the cream cheese flavors your heart could ever desire - again like a proper NY bagel spot - I am a scallion cream cheese kinda gal but they have veggie, jalapeno, sundried tomato, maple walnut, berry almond, chocolate chip, becaon cheddar, lox spread, wasabi ginger (!!), RANCH (!!!!) cream cheese flavors. *Bagel Dog - okay I've never had this before but think like a corn dog or pretzel dog but with bagel dough on the outside. soooo good. the texture was perfect. They have salted and unsalted bagel dogs and you can get it toasted. I ate an unsalted one as-is! *Egg Bagel - okay egg bagels are my roman empire. I get these bad boys shipped from NYC directly and/or stock up whenever I can find them. I love that they use REAL egg here - not just yellow food coloring. However, the texture needs a bit of work. It's missing that signature bagel bite and chew, which I KNOW they can achieve because the bagel dog was perfect. Also, so cute that they have minis! I can't tell which flavors they are, but that's a great option if you're not too hungry.

Got the 1) Sushi bagel specialty sandwich and 2) everything bagel with eggs, cream cheese, and tomato and red onion. Also, 3) cold brew! They forgot the lox at first on my friend's sandwich but were super quick/nice in fixing it up! Overall 9/10- love this spot. My new bagel spot as someone from NJ.

Quick service and more room than I anticipated on the inside (just countertop seating but great!) The inside is beautiful, you can see them whipping out bagels and drool over their cases. The menu is so much more expansive than I could've imagined! We went simple for the sake of evaluation and hungry bellies - ordered the Ashley w/o cheese on a whole wheat everything which was phenomenal, a build your own egg sammy and an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese (the best I've ever had). This is the best bagel in and around Ann Arbor hands down. Don't hesitate, just do it. I can't wait to go back for a lunch bagel and to try their carrot cake, cinnamon buns and coffee. I anticipate we'll be here far too often haha

Was excited to try a new bagel place. I got my usual sesame bagel with peanut butter. When I received my order, I was shocked by how skimpy they were on the PB! See the picture to find out what $2 of peanut butter looks like... Taste was fine though. It seems like others had more luck with specialty sandwiches. Next time, I'll order a plain bagel and add PB myself.

Same sentiment for their vegan chocolate chip cookies and other vegan baked goods. Sad that I don't live in Michigan purely because I'm not near Bakehouse 46. All their cake and frosting flavors are thoughtfully curated. Some of them that are not the standard ones are switched out every month, including one new vegan flavor. During the month I was there, it was lavender which I was skeptical of but it was actually delicious! They have cute mini sized versions of I think most of their cupcakes too, which is so great! I heard their banana pudding is amazing and is a best-seller. Can't believe even their ice creams are so delicious! The vibe inside sitting down is cute and perfect to enjoy a sweet treat or chill, like any other cafe. Even the customers who come in know their stuff is so good and I noticed the store draws in quite a "sweet" intersection of people. I think I actually witnessed the customer interaction right below this but imo I thought they were being kind of unfair and entitled, so this seems like an anomaly, because the desserts are truly wonderful as I saw other customers also found. The girl who worked the shift when I used to go in -- I had gotten her name but have forgotten it now -- was so sweet and good at her job! If you have allergies or restrictions, like gluten or dairy free, this bakery is very accommodating and a must-try; but even otherwise this bakery is worth going out of your way to try!

She claimed they had extra frosting because they had more than what was in the case, which was literally a star dot of frosting. I can't believe how downhill the cupcakes have gone since they bought out Cupcake Station. Cupcake Station would be ashamed of what this has become. The cupcakes were a melted mess. Girl at the counter claimed that she could not give us extra frosting or a refund. I took them because I had used my birthday reward and she couldn't answer whether I would get that back, but I shouldn't have because I'm not gonna eat those or show them to anyone else. They should be embarrassed to put out products like that. If you are going to have only one person working, they should have the knowledge and authority to do everything that comes with running a store. I'm done with this place. $40 for that!!

There's plenty of parking but it does get quite busy on Saturday morning/noon. The place is pretty narrow and small. The offerings are nice but there were not many flaky pastries. I'm used to the huge glass case varieties from Tous les jours or Paris Baguette and love the flaky pastries or novelties the best! Yoon's was bread and bun heavy and their prices overall were higher (if you can believe it!). I did try this Cloud cake $6.50 that was out of this world good but the strawberry jam part was too sweet. The hazelnut cream sandwich loaf (3 small servings) was so beans good with my favorite type of cream that only Asian bakeries can get right! My only complaint is more cream, please!

I saw an ad for a Grain Latte (mi-su-ga-ru) and was so curious how it would taste. I haven't noticed it anywhere else (other Korean bakeries), so had to make a trip just for the drink, along with their other goodies. Omg, from the first sip, I was transported back to my childhood. I used to drink the multigrain drink that would come in powder form. But this drink was elevated by the espresso. What a perfect combo! Now this latte isn't sweet, so if you are looking for sweet, this won't be the drink for you. I had my hubs try it out and said he could taste espresso with an aftertaste of the grains- not something he would order, himself. But I'm definitely going to! He ordered the pistachio latte and I could tell it's very different from other ps's I've had from Monday Coffee Club or from Yemeni coffee houses. It definitely has that light, Korean, nutty taste that isn't strong. The baked goodie, I'm happy to say, has expanded and they offer so much more than they did since my last review. They've added a few nice tables and chairs, so you don't have to leave to enjoy your pastries or coffee, unless there's no spots. Highly recommend Y if you enjoy desserts that's not too sweet.

Eggs were perfectly runny for the rancheros and folded egg omelet was not dry on the sandwich. Crispy tortillas on the rancheros and house made chorizo was flavorful and not greasy. I'd say that this dish was not very spicy at all, I had to add cholula hot sauce which was conveniently on the table already. They have a bathroom in the basement, which you have to get through the kitchen. So, not accessible for all but it does have a diaper changing station available for the littles. Lots of seating choices: communal table, small tables, and window counter height seating plus outside tables in the back. Overall, will be back again with the kids since there were lots of families with smaller kids here so very family friendly.
