When we are on the road, it's nice to find a great salad with romaine lettuce and fresh ingredients. We got two salads, both large and very fresh. Sadly, mine was supposed to have ROASTED butternut squash. What I got was 5 pieces OF RAW butternut squash. Harder to eat not the flavor I hoped for but the salad was still good with out it. We have stopped in three times. We have a dog and they are welcome on the patio. There is a nice view of the lake as well. The menu is simple basically, burritos and tacos. All meals come with chips and salsa. Chipotle salsa is the best one, IMO. Burritos are large and they have a variety of "flavors." We haven't tried the tacos. The place is clean. Horrible experience. The food is way too expensive and tastes horrible. We had to ask more than one time for the most simple taco for my daughter which was steak and lettuce. That's it. The service was horrible and the I couldn't believe how confused the girl was for something so simple. Had to send it back twice and they still didn't get it right and sent it with other stuff on it. BG has become one of those restaurants I craved between visits to Marquette. The orange salsa is weirdly addicting. Glad they opened a few more locations so we can get it when visiting other parts of the UP. This one is clean, new, with a lake view. Food is the same as the other locations. 4 stars not 5 because they're stingy with the napkins and plastic ware, and you have to wait in a long line to get back to the counter to ask for more. My son asked for no sour cream on his bowl and it was smothered in it, he had to scrape off. I am sure this location will do well despite these flaws. read more

We were very disappointed by the Whitefish Basket - it came with three small pieces of fish and lots of fries, for $17. Asked the server, but was told to speak to the manager. The Whitefish Burrito does have much fish either. We don't mind paying more, but the quantity of fish is grossly under represented. Not a good way to make customer happy and writing good reviews. Breakdown: Food was overpriced and bland at best. The chicken tasted like it just had salt and pepper. Definitely overpriced, especially with lettuce being an up-charge (lettuce is most certainly cheaper than pico de gallo-- the lettuce was romaine). Fountain drinks cost $5 for 2 large drinks. For a couple 10 mLs of syrup mixed with carbonated water, that's insane. The meal total was around $30 for 2 entrees. We then got asked to tip. For $30, the owner can pay out a decent wage to these workers. Remove the tipping option from the tablets. It makes the customer feel forced to pay a tip. I've worked in restaurants and seen the income sheets and cost breakdowns. The owner is definitely making bank on these locations with tourism. The service was adequate, but the tables need repair. TLDR: Food is expensive for what you get, the food needs to be seasoned better, this is not authentic Mexican, this is a tourist trap, and spend your money elsewhere. read more

I picked a taco off the menu and removed everything except steak and lettuce and they brought it out with everything on it. After a back and forth, we got another taco with still tomatoes. The food was unfortunately not the best quality and lacking flavor. With the prime real estate this spot is in, the potential is great. To the owner: instill customer service in your employees, upgrade the meat used, focus on flavor (especially for the price charged), or change up the type of food you make. This is a great place that is similar to Chipotle to stop at for a lunch or dinner. I got a veggie bowl and could tell that all the ingredients were very fresh. The peppers were perfect on it, not too sautéed or seasoned. The bowl comes with a side of chips so I ordered a cup of guacamole, and that tied the meal together perfectly! The staff was amazing here and fixed any issues immediately. There is plenty of seating and I enjoyed my meal there as well as packed up my good amount of leftovers. We stopped in for a patio lunch today. I have to admit we had low expectations just because it's a small town. The building is nice and modern and they have a good size patio with a view of the water which allowed us to eat outside with our dog. We ordered a rice bowl, a kids chicken taco, a gourmet burrito with chicken and a tostada bowl. Everything was really good! we ate every bite, even our kids. The chicken was good quality and grilled nicely. The veggies were fresh, guacamole was good and the tortillas were very tasty too. I got food to go. I waited right by the counter for it, and the person who waited on me, handed me the bag and told me to have a good night. When I got back to the hotel, the food I was given was not the food I ordered. Because I didn't want to travel back, I decided to try what was in the bag. I had some tacos with maybe a spicy chicken that was deep-fried, a really good chicken burrito, and a kids grilled cheese, or some kind of quesadilla grilled cheese. It wasn't what I ordered but it was all really good! The only thing I wish I had gotten was my salad ha ha. Overpriced for the portions. The steak was dry, and they put maybe 6 cubes of steak on my tacos which were 6.50 for each, outrageous. They then add a side of their house salsa (which isn't that good, tastes like tomatoes with cheese dip) without telling you and it's an extra dollar charge. I found a bone in my fish taco, which is why I'm leaving only a 2 star review. The chips were nice and crispy, but way too salty for me. The salsa tasted more like mayo and ketchup mixed together. Will someone explain that orange sauce? I'm from the South and I've never had TexMex or Mexican like this. There was nothing wrong with the food. It did the job, but was bland. And why the bad country music? At least play good country. But it was nice to have seating overlooking the dock and saw the tour boat come in. I would love to write a review on the food here, but I wasn't able to taste any of it. My wife and I stopped here after arriving from out of town. We just needed a quick place to grab a bite after a long day of traveling. It was about 7:00pm and it seemed to be steady with 3 or 4 people in front of us waiting to give their orders. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were next in line, the cashier come out from behind the counter, looks at us and says, "sorry....but I just clocked out." We hung around for about 5 more minutes waiting to see if anyone was coming to replace him at the counter. At that point we just decided to leave. I don't know if I should start with the boiled steak with no seasoning on my tacos as the worst part or the fact it took 30 minutes to screw our order up the first time you brought them out. The fact you charged me $5 per taco is highway robbery. Another issue you may want to address is your guacamole could use some lime juice and salt. The food here is just... strange. It's like an attempt at Mexican food from someone who has never actually had Mexican food. It wasn't bad, but just not at all the Mexican we were expecting.
