A unique place to find a satisfying breakfast while perusing a variety of books and authors, or just joining friends around tables for conversation and solving the worlds problems:)

This cafe was perfectly located in the middle of Munising and had various events in the book shop portion nearly every night. The open hours and location made it ideal for a morning espresso and ice cream after dinner. The staff was very friendly too! Just be ready to wait awhile if there is a long line.

This review is based on the service only- I do appreciate small town local food stores and was excited to try their whitefish bagels with cream cheese and tomatoes as my boyfriend mentioned he has had it before . We walked in and snaked into their line of about 7 people waiting to place their order. There wasn't any menus left so we asked for a couple menus to look at while we were waiting. We saw that they still had the bagels on their menu and decided quickly on those. And then we waited in line ... I'm not the most patient person I'll admit, and I understand that with these small town stores you are going to chat with customers, but there was a long line and the cashier really didn't care, just struck up conversations with everyone while the workers just stood around waiting for orders. A lot of the people waiting in line were waiting on ice cream scoops, the workers could have been scooping while the cashier got done chatting that would have made things a little faster. When we finally got to the front we ordered our bagels to go and waited some more. My boyfriend had checked to see if our order was ready after a bit and the lady said "oh, looks like they went out on a tray already," we had ordered them to go, so the guy took them apart and put them in to go boxes. Great- we had our bagels to go with the chips and decided to go sit by the bay to eat them. Unfortunately upon opening the to go boxes and looking at the bagels ... they forgot the cream cheese.... Really? It was three ingredients that go on top and you forgot the cream cheese? I swear the guy that made them was on another planet. We walked all the way back and approached the counter and told the workers there was no green cheese. Again, the guy was like "oh." Hello?!? Get I together sir! We just asked for to go containers of cream cheese so we could get out of there quickly. The bagel was good once everything was said and done as the whitefish is delicious. But dang, that was a process just to get our order and to even get it correctly. Thankfully the one lady apologized so I do appreciate that but being able to make a simple bagel should be pretty basic.

We tried grabbing a quick bite here before heading to the Pictured Rocks cruise, but our plans were derailed. The line was quite long when we arrived, but my husband was determined to get breakfast sandwiches, so we decided to wait. It was also uncomfortably hot inside. After 35 minutes in line and another 20 minutes waiting for our avocado toast and whitefish bagel, I found out at the register that breakfast had ended, and I had to change my order. I didn't quite understand the mugs on the wall either. Overall, it wasn't the best experience, but it might have been an off day for them.

This place has a cute vibe and tasty coffee and ice cream but the service is lacking. My husband and I walked in on a Monday morning and there was no one else ordering. We were ignored until we got what felt like way too close to the counter where the food is prepared before we were asked for our orders. That said, my cherry coffee was delicious and my husband's ice cream was tasty as well. He wanted to order a breakfast sandwich too but $10.50+ seemed a little exorbitant. What we had was good and the inside of the place is nice, but service needs a little work (at least when we were there).

This is the place! Coffee Food Ice Cream Book Store Local Art Gallery Board Games There isn't much else you need when you're hanging out in this quaint UP Michigan city. We escaped here when our beach campsite became cold, and rainy. We drank coffee, played games and read books. The coffee is free refills so we loaded up on good vibes and caffeine. I feel like it's obligatory that you should come visit this watering hole while you're in the area!

    Is the food reasonably priced?

Yea! Same as other sandwich shops. 5-8 bucks depending on what you get and what you have on your sandwich's! They are freshly made, made to order, and they bring it out to your table! Can't go wrong here! Yummmy!

After getting a terrific cafe au lait earlier in the day at Gallery Coffee, we stopped here in the afternoon for Jilbert's ice cream.

Long-term relationship with an outstanding bookstore I first…read morevisited Snowbound Books in 2024 when a local, with whom I went to law school, recommended the shop. I'm in D.C., my colleague is in Grand Rapids, and mutual friends have a lovely place in the U.P. We stopped and shopped, then I went back to D.C. with a suitcase full of books. I was hooked . . . from this point forward this was my go-to bookstore. I ordered a Christmas-list full of books, and the crew at Snowbound responded with class. Since that visit, I've made a point to support this, my new local bookstore, throughout the year, both with hardcovers and audiobooks. Snowbound linked up its business venture with the audiobook marketer Libro.fm, which collaborates with local bookstores to offer a seamless alternatives for audiobooks, doing an end-run around platforms that historically have minimized or shut out local bookstores. Libro.fm shares its profits with these local bookstores, and offers great deals with titles in their massive library. Recently, I researched the Snowbound catalog and received 14 books (see the photo). During the same period I purchased, at retail in some cases and with a deep discount in other cases, about 15 audiobooks, which I devoured upon arrival. This may reflect idealistic tendencies, but I would much rather support local booksellers, and audiobook platforms that share their profits with booksellers. Libro.fm meets this requirement for the audiobooks, and Snowbound meets it for new hardcovers. We're lucky to have both, as alternative to platforms that lack any connection with the local markets being served.

Excellent customer service, selection of books, cards, etc. Street parking mostly so start looking…read moreas you approach.

The chicken pastie was packed with a lot of potato and some ground chicken in between. Should be called a potato pastie. It was quite dry. The bottom of the pastie is super thick and quite dense. I gutted my out. It's dry and has zero flavor. Should have gotten some hot sauce, would be better with sriracha even. The apple pasty tasted like an apple pie. Has good flavor. Bottom of the pastie once again is dense and heavy. The tops are flat and boring. Flaky would make it better. But then again pasties are supposed to be filling and hardy, not flavorful or delectable, or?

A small little gift shop inside with a counter to order your food. There are multiple tables outside to sit and eat your pasties. The pasties were pre made and kept warm in an oven/heater and we received them immediately after ordering. Very friendly and fast service! Unfortunately the pasties did not live up to the hype for us. The insides were a mixture of the chosen meat with carrots and diced potatoes, but it was extremely dry and flavorless. The outside pastry was also very bland and very dry. We had some hot sauce which helps to make it a little less dry, but even the flavor of the hot sauce wasn't enough to help it. The one saving grace was the apple pie pasty! That was at-least packed with nice warm apple pie filling although the outer pastry was just as dry as the meat pasties. Perhaps we got a bad batch, or maybe this is how they are supposed to taste, but unfortunately I don't see the hype of the pasties!
