Bar Area
John W.

Came here for a date night and really enjoyed my time here! The vibe was amazing. Very lowkey and chill. Not sure if it's always that way, but made for a great night. The restaurant feels like a hole in the wall and a chili's at the same time. The staff here was great too and was always helpful where they could be. The 2 for $26 deal is a steal for how much food you're getting and was great for two people. Basically, you get an appetizer and two entrees. What I really liked about this place is they let you change out your sides on your entree for no extra charge. I got mash potatoes instead of fries and definitely felt like I should be paying more just for the quality of the mash potatoes alone. Also, I've never had a monte cristo sandwhich before, but I was glad I tried it out. The strawberry jam that pairs with it is literally some of the best strawberry jam I've ever had before too. If I could get it to just take home, I would! Overall, I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere to dine in the Casa Linda area!

The wings made at this particular location weren't the best. My BEST experience was the Mesquite location by far. I guess I'll have to take the 35 minute drive each time if I want the better experience as my first. Overall the young lady at the bar was very friendly, nice, pleasant, and lastly attentive. She gets a 5star rating (even though I never got her name) smh. Usually I always ask but I was having a hell of a bad day I was kinda standoffish. I will return if I'm ever in this area again though just not for the wings.

It was great. Good service, crew but it just takes one dumbass regular to bring down the vibe. Won't be back

Do not eat here!!!!! It's not worth the trouble. They tried to kill me by putting items on the food that I clearly stated I can't eat. I had to drive all the way back to get a refund. The catfish is not real catfish. Mediocrity food. They don't deserve 1 star

I wish I could not come here to try. My friend prefer me this restaurant but she goes to the one in Lewisville. I order the salad and cheese stick and chip with dip cheese. The salad is nothing special and is old. The waitress was nice but she didn't do anything after I told her the salad is old. May be she could not help or she didn't want to tell manager. I won't be back. I never give low star for any restaurant. But my mom was so mad. It made me have to write this review.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

MUST order the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Has a great chicken patty full of flavor, slaw mix is good, bun is tasty, and the sandwich itself is HUGE! I've already ordered it twice this week. I've also ordered their salads, the Avocado Chop and the Chicken Cobb, and they are super tasty and huge as well. Also if you're wanting the best value overall for what you order, this is the place.

The first review was 3 stars and I was not impressed with the food. Service was good. This time, I went for lunch with a friend on a Friday and the restaurant had very few customers. I had the two tacos for lunch ($11.99) with seasoned ground beef and I liked them. They were not the best tacos I ever had, but they were good. They came with salsa from a jar (or so it appeared). The accompanying tortilla chips were over-fried and not very good. Our server was very attentive and helpful. No problems with the service. This restaurant has changed ownership three times in the past three to four years. One change was COVID induced. Given the nearly empty restaurant at lunch, the way things are going, it does not look good for this ownership. It's a good location so I wonder what the problem is.

The bar tenders are all very friendly and knowledgeable. You never go without a drink. We've had the food on a few occasions and it's serviceable. All good but not knock your socks off good. The fish sandwich was crispy and well seasoned. It didn't say on the menu, but the fish was a cod or Pollock. I would order that again or even get the fish and chips. Overall this place is a keeper. They respect the games they are showing and make it a good experience for those who want to watch.

In the end, we all just try to tally up the wins and losses and try our best to rate a restaurant. This is my story. Usually when traveling, I try to get in a smattering of different genres of food. Mostly because I tire easy. Like when walking. I also try to get in some of the best things I like. Which are burgers. And wings. I'm also kind of a sucker for wildly long names of things. Which is exactly where good friend beer garden and burger house comes in. I really dug the look of the place. Open concept with the outside, outdoor seating, cool lighting ambiance. Just a really cool vibe and feel. Like a dorm room after your freshmen year. You know, once you get everything figured out and you aren't bunking with that weirdo with all the waifu pictures hanging up and FaceTimes with his cat. I will say though, the only weird drawback this place had was it was DARK on the inside. Never really had that problem before. Wouldn't have been an issue had I remembered my headlamp, but I left it back in the mines. And in all honesty, I don't care too much about the state of the building around me as long as the food hits hard. I was pumped about the wings as they seemed to have an assortment of flavors. I ordered four and thinking back, I can't remember why. Maybe that was the minimum, maybe you could only order in increments of four. Nobody really knows at this point and I'm way too far away to drive back and ask. So, four wings. You were able to split the sauces. Not like atoms, but like different flavors. This is food, not science. So, like a good CERN scientist, I requested split sauce. I inquired about the KFC flavoring and the server told me it was a rub and their version of secret blend of herbs and spices. I'm not a fan of rubs simply because if I'm going to eat wings, I want them saucy and messy. Like my relationships. BUT he said, and I quote "it's really good." That was all I needed to hear. Sign me up. After the rub I knew I needed a sauce. I settled with the Mild because it seemed like a good middle of the road. Man. Sometimes you do wings right and sometimes you do wings RIGHT. The KFC rub was 100% top tier rub. It wasn't a light rub which I've experienced before, it was a full on flavor soak. Make no mistake, you were going to experience that rub flavor. It was so good if I accidentally got some on my fingers, I'd just have nubs left. The Mild sauce was also top tier. Although I will say it seemed a few steps above a mild sauce. It was like a Low to Mid Hot sauce wearing a Mild sauce mask. Like the kind your mom and dad used to wear at those parties you weren't allowed to go to. Oh, and the wings had that chef's kiss crunch and that chiefs kiss juiciness. 10/10 want to experience these wings again in a Groundhog's Day setting. Now let's talk burger. I have found that I love smash burgers. I have not figured out yet how to make a delicious one myself, so I rely on the skill of others. Much like everything else in my life. Except dentistry. I do that myself. Castaway style. I ordered the Bourdain which included the patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and Kewpie mayo. Not sure what that last one is, but I like condiments on my burg, so sign me up. I'll let you in on a little secret, I used to make burgs for the Bee's back in my heyday. And a little deeper secret, I can't remember how we stacked them. That being said, when I make my personal burgers, everything is on top of the burger. I'll sometimes do a condiment or two on the bottom, but I have no real methodology. In my mind, you want that patty to hit those taste buds first. No middle man. Like the lawyer you kept having to talk to when trying to figure out which parent you wanted to live with. The Bourdain burger did the exact opposite with this burger. It had the lettuce and pickle as a buffer between meat and tongue. And honestly, I think that might have been what turned me off to the burger. I patties had good flavor, but it felt like it came in too late because I tasted toppings first. In my burger mind, this hurt more than it helped. Side Note: Fries were good. The spicy ranch would peel the paint off of any car, spot weld iron beams, and melt through your hand without protective gloves. It's hurting my mouth to even write this. PS Sorry for the sideways photos. I hate that, too. Chicken Wings: 12/10 Burger: 7/10 Spicy Ranch: Please Don't

We had a choice of brunch and lunch items. I had the brisket tacos and a frozen Bellini. Both items were very good. You could tell the tortillas were fresh made which is always nice. Our group ended up sharing two desserts. One was an upside down pineapple cake and the other was a s'mores cake. Both were very good. Service was ridiculously slow with the server also working the packed tables due to an event, but the customers and quality shouldn't be the ones who are short changed just because management didn't make a better effort with handling increased demand. We waited awhile before getting menus, to order, to get any food. Service was friendly but overburdened. We FINALLY got our food. Mussels were good, but rushed and there were shells, for once, in the sauce. Mac and cheese was thrown together and just one notch about the blue box you get for a dollar at the grocery store. I shouldn't have paid more than $3 for it. My daughter was STARVING, so she ate it. On to the main meal I used to talk my daughter into waiting for over an hour: the hangar steak. Her first time trying this amazing cut of beef. But it was so DAMN COLD!!! WTH???? The fries were hot and tasty, but the steak was cold like maybe someone sent it back and we got it. It didn't fit the cook on the fries. She said the flavor was there, she can eat a lukewarm steak, but it was COLD. I'm so angry. The server asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. For what? I just paid and will never go back. Lake House RUINED my daughter's entire impression of one of the best and most underrated cuts of beef.

Thanks to the reservation, we were seated right away and immediately greeted by our server, who was honestly amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. We kicked things off with drinks. I started with an espresso martini, and it was really, really good--smooth, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. For my second drink, I tried the smoked Old Fashioned from their holiday menu. It was good, but I'll be honest, it was extremely strong. Like, really strong. In general, their drinks definitely pack a punch, so that's something to keep in mind when ordering. For my entrée, I ordered the Mediterranean smoked chicken salad, and wow. It was hands down one of the best salads I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and satisfying, and it didn't feel like a "boring" salad at all. It was so good that I already know I'll be coming back specifically for that dish, though I'm also curious to try more of the menu next time. Overall, this place absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Great service, strong drinks, and standout food. I'll definitely be back.

The layout feels open and comfortable, and the overall vibe is upbeat without being overwhelming. That said, service on arrival could use some attention. Ally at the bar stood out right away. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, she helped turn the visit around and made the experience feel more personal. She did come back to check in later, which was appreciated and helped round out the service. On the food and drink side, they carry Manhattan Project Beer Company's Half-Life, which is a big win and pairs exceptionally well with the French dip. The sandwich itself is flavorful and satisfying. The fries were a bit on the softer side, so if you prefer them crispy, I'd definitely recommend asking for them extra crispy when ordering. Overall, Thirsty Lion has a lot going for it. Great atmosphere, solid menu, and standout staff like Ally. With a little more consistency at the front of house, this place easily moves from good to great.
