My server, Elizabeth took great care of me, helped me decide what to order, and where to go to get a few things I missed from my travels (shot-glasses that I collect) 2. Good waitress can't overcome world's slowest cook. It's half-price burger night. The grill should be full, and they should be coming out quickly-NOT 25 minutes. We weren't the only ones waiting. To-go orders were also waiting. The cook decided, "I'm cooking these one at-a-time, as they're ordered, and as people show up and not before." Others looking toward the kitchen, wondering what was taking so long. The waitress stood near the kitchen, another one counted the tip jar. Time stood still, everyone held captive by the cook. We thought about leaving, but the waitress assured us two minutes, and promised a discount, if we'd wait. She kept her word, and it finally arrived. She kept checking on us and gave us a small discount for waiting. We left her a good tip for her efforts. Food acceptable but overpriced. Chef salad, shredded iceberg with cheese, hard-boiled egg, diced ham, bacon, tomatoes for $10.49, I can get elsewhere half-price. The dressing had been sitting around, the oil had risen to the top. Burger overcooked for $4.49, normally $8.99. Small portion of standard fries for $3.49. Drink for $2.49, the waitress offered to refill or give a go-drink, I declined. Boomarang was a perfect lunch stop after a Saturday morning browsing Claremore's downtown antique shops and boutiques. Riffing on a 50s rock 'n' roll soda shop, it offers typical breakfast and lunch selections. Traditional burgers and fries satisfied our party. My friend and I decided to visit this local diner, I know they're a franchise and I've seen reviews from other Yelpers so I thought we'd give ours a try. We got there at lunch time, super busy place- that's not an issue, the staff was hustling and people seemed happy. It took a few minutes to get a seat but we didn't mind the wait. The decor is fun and the place looked clean. We started off our meal with the cheese curds, they were slightly burnt but still had a good flavor to them. I had a salad with my meal, it tasted fresh. My friend had the cottage cheese, she was on the fence with it or the coleslaw, the waitress brought both. She said the coleslaw was good, lots of flavor. We both ordered the hot hamburger with brown gravy and fries, you could choose white gravy or mashed potatoes. It tasted fine, nice flavors, we ate about half of it. Later we came back for an ice cold root beer, I had mine as a float. The staff is very kind, we felt welcomed and they took great care of everyone there. I know some rave about the food, it wasn't bad- I was able to eat and not feel sick afterwards. I guess I missed the wow-factor. Have eaten here multiple times when we are driving through. Kids meals are out in cars board cars which is cute. Today I had the chicken fried steak which had mashed potatoes and gravy under it. It was huge and tasty. My husband had a double cheeseburger with tots and he liked it. As an appetizer we tried fried mushrooms and they were great as well. My favorite kind of breakfast! No frills, just a basic breakfast to be had. Too many places try to shove avocado toast down your throat instead of making a decent well-cooked egg. Small town restaurant in historic district Claremore. Seating was limited so we ordered Togo. I liked the burger basket for $5.95. The burger was small but had good flavor. Fries were thick cut, soft, not crispy like I like. However, boys my both loved the fries and also liked their burgers. Next time we are in the area, we will be back! One of my favorite burgers. I get the burger basket with bacon and cheese. It's an old fashioned style thin pressed burger. My wife loves their Chicken Chunks. They also serve breakfast but I'm not really a breakfast person so I have never tried theirs. I've never liked chicken fried steak due to the gristle, but I have never experienced that with this steak. My first visit here I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich. When it came out to the table it was almost comical the disproportion of the steak vs bun. It was delicious. Now I get the dinner and share it with my boyfriend because how huge it is.
