This was a great first visit! It took over a month to get back to this review. We had friends visiting and staying near Scottsdale. My husband saw it on YouTube. We decided to give it a try. An afternoon visit on a weekend was a perfect time. We were seated right away and our guests had arrived by the time I returned from the restroom. The restroom was clean and has a pleasant decor. Yes, the restroom says a lot about an establishment. I ordered the 5 Cheese Mac N Crack with BBQ Pork. It was filling and half came home for dinner. My husband ordered the Jumbo Wings with 5 Cheese Mac n Crack & Pot Likker Greens. Both meals were delicious to include the cornbread. The drive from the west valley was worth it. We were visiting Scottsdale for the day and really wanted BBQ. We found this restaurant. The vibe was nice inside, our waitress Angelica was excellent, and it was clean inside. Everything on our plates tasted good except the mashed potatoes were very watery (and it wasn't because of the gravy), the cornbread had no taste (needs to be sweeter), the sauces were meh, and then there was the issue with the paper and the ham. Why would you place paper when you have to cut something? Every time I cut my ham the paper came with it so I had to pick the paper off (see photo). Please change this. The green beans were cooked perfectly and the cranberries, even though it was hot, was very good. My husband liked the baked beans because it was sweet & spicy at the same time. There was a gentleman with slicked backed hair that came to every table (about 6 altogether in the restaurant) that he went to and asked if everything was good, BUT he never came to our table. Visiting from the East, I never really thought of Scottsdale as a BBQ destination, but this place proved me wrong. I happened to stop in on a day when they were offering a BBQ buffet, which was a great way to sample a little of everything at a reasonable price. I really enjoyed all the meats I tried -- the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken wings were all flavorful and well‑done. The cornbread was a standout, with small pieces of jalapeño baked in for a nice kick. Coleslaw was just okay, nothing I'd go back for, but the baked beans and collard greens were both solid sides that paired well with the meats. There were plenty of dessert options, but I was way too full to even attempt them. The restaurant itself is clean, nicely decorated, and the service was good throughout my visit. Visited the spot last month to meet up with a friend for lunch, and was pleasantly pleased with the experience. First, this is a really nice location in North Scottsdale, and very well appointed with several booths, tables, and a fully stocked bar inside. What's notable about this restaurant? Is the fact that the owner works on the line and walks the floor greeting guests upon arrival. We had a really Great conversation about being from the south, with him being from Memphis and my family originating from Little Rock, Arkansas. I mentioned my fondness for visiting Memphis as a kid and trying out rendezvous ribs, which he promptly replied that they may have set the standard, but his ribs were better! Pretty bold claim, and I was definitely up for the challenge. My friend and I ordered a variety of items from the menu, including the combination platters with greens, macaroni, and cheese, cornbread, and the fried dill Pickles appetizer. Overall, I found the food to be really good, flavorful, well seasoned And well proportioned. And what did I think of the ribs? Well, I won't say they were rendezvous Great, but they were definitely good. No insult there as rendezvous ribs is probably one of the best rib spots in the country, but I definitely think their barbecue Could be considered top notch in the Scottsdale. In addition to a really great menu, they have really strong service in restaurant, so if you're thinking about bringing your family somewhere, and having a bite to eat, this is definitely a place. My extended family all lived in Memphis so I was excited to try Boo and Henry's. My parents really like it so I was excited to... and it lived up to the high expectations! My friend and I decided to check out AZ Restaurant week and Boo and Henry's. We were warmly greeted by the staff who sat us at a community table as all the other tables were taken. Boo and Henry's is a small restaurant with about 12 or so tables inside, a medium sized bar, and an outdoor patio. After a few minutes at the community table we were able to shift to another table that was further away from the bright sun. We checked out the menu and decided to share the pig out platter that was $55 and came with a choice of two sides, jalapeño corn bread with butter, and a mix of chicken sausage, ribs, blackened shrimp, and shredded beef. For our sides we got the potato salad and greens. Our server was very nice and honesty about the menu, which we both appreciated. The food took a little while for our food to come out, but we were chatting so much that we did not notice it too much. We were brought an array of sauces and I tried and liked the mild sauce and relly enjoyed it especially with the shredded beef. My favorite of the platter were the shrimp and ribs! The shrimp came with this spicy, Chipotle based sauce. It went great with the shrimp as well as the ribs. The greens and potato salad were delicious! To me the greens just needed a little more spice, so I added some hot sauce. The potato salad had these yummy chunks of potatoes, corn, and sauce that just popped with every bite. Overall my friend and I had an amazing time! Only negative was the very odd chicken sausage. My friend and I agreed that it tasted kind of funny and was not the best. I was excited to try and looked up this place on Yelp after I ordered. I was a little nervous after reading the reviews. I ordered the two protein plate to go. I got the pulled pork and brisket. Both meats were tender, savory and lean. Also, the portion size were generous. I was very disappointed with the sides. I love bbq sides of done right. I ordered the potato salad and it was too runny and had no flavor. The coleslaw was odd. Had a bitter aftertaste. For me, I did not like it, and I LOVE coleslaw. When we walked in, no one said hi, but there is a nice sign saying seat yourself. We sat ourselves and we're promptly greeted by our server. We explained it was our first time and she recommended the 3 meat to try a few meats and then brought us waters and went to help her other tables. She was kind and warm, but clearly occupied with being busy. We ordered the 3 meat sampler with pulled pork, burnt ends, and wings. My son ordered the kids jumbo tender. Our food took kind of long, but that was ok, it gave us a chance to sample all their bbq sauces. They have a heat rating, but if you like spicey food, then none will be hot here. Our sides were Mac and chz and the Cole slaw. My wife enjoyed the slaw and my son and I enjoyed the Mac n chz. My son didn't care for the jumbo tender, but my wife did. Different strokes I guess. The food was supposed to come with cornbread and when delivered none came, took like 5 or so minutes for our server to return and when we asked she apologized and told us they were out of cornbread... it was lunch time, so that was odd... maybe just more cooking. Idk. She asked if we wanted a roll instead, we said yes and about 10 min later they brought a hot dog bun that had garlic slurry on it and was toasted. It was good, but odd. The burnt ends were not good. They were rock solid and dry. I think I got a bad batch, like you have to go out of your way to make them that hard. Our little lunch group met here for lunch and will have to say that the BBQ was average at best. I had the two meat plate with brisket and ribs. Neither was a stand out. Brisket sliced a little thin for my liking and a little stingy on the amount for $30 bucks. Potatoes wedges were good and coleslaw was decent. The rest of the group had chicken wings, salad, sliders and Mac and cheese with pulled pork. All was fair no standout. Service was lacking. Took too long to get our lunch and came out in two separate times, service person never came to check after the meals were placed so I never got a refill on my soda and wasn't asked about it until well after I was finished. Great interior and great patio setting. Owner stopped by to say hello and gave us a little background on the story. Very nice of him. The service was great, the owner was so nice and friendly. The food was excellent, everything we had was amazing. Of course we had ribs, cooked to perfection. The Cole slaw was different but really tasty. My sister in law had brought a bouquet of flowers for me because it was my birthday. The owner found out and went back himself and made me a delicious Sunday and had the staff sing to me. I turned 83, that was just a sweet and nice thing to do for me. Overpriced subpar food, horrible service. 3/20/25 first time, came for a late lunch with a friend. Stood at the door, unacknowledged for a few minutes. Once seated, server was a horrible listener and was too busy rapidly trying to upsell us on many items. The circular bottom tables are horribly unstable and almost flipped over when we leaned on it. Food was overpriced and forgettable. After 3:00 is happy hour so we ordered the potato salad, chicken wings, catfish bites, and fried pickles for $40! The potato salad was basically served in a thimble - the portions, for $10 each, were insulting. My friend ordered a half chicken that took agonizingly long to be served. The fried pickles were flabby, greasy, and barely had any batter on them. The catfish bites had no flavor and tasted like something you would get at a fast food place. The chicken wings had good flavor, but I have no idea why they leave the little pointy ends on the wings that nobody ever eats. You have to sit there and wrestle with the stupid things and detach them before you can eat your wing. Just dumb. Due to the small portions and horrible service we finished quickly and were ready to leave, but our server had his back to us and was working on rolling up silverware behind the counter. We were done eating for almost 10 minutes being completely ignored. I was about to get up and walk to the counter to tell our server when the manager or pit boss or whoever he is was walking around and asked how things were and I said "horrible" and that we had "been waiting for almost 10 minutes and your server is right there with his back to us." No apology. No attempt to remedy the situation. Just horrible lack of leadership management. Being a server at a restaurant is so basic that such disregard is unforgivable. You have one job - pay attention to your customer. Being a manager, especially at a new place and especially in Scottsdale, your main job is to make sure the food is amazing and the service is excellent. The prices are ridiculous. The food quality is mediocre. The portions are laughably small. The service is highly inattentive and apparently indifferent to paying customers. Nobody cared, not the server, not the manager, and so needless to say, never coming back. read more

I thought they were excellent. The beans were good. The cornbread tasted weird. They didn't have a beer list so I took the closest thing to a dark lager. It was OK. As a fellow Memphian, I of course, had to give this place a try and it did not disappoint. I'll be coming here when I feel homesick for some of my dad's BBQ for sure. The staff was incredibly friendly and I feel like compared to other BBQ places in town it was decently priced. My husband and I ordered the 3 meat plate to split which was plenty of food and we even had a little left over. We got the BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and brisket burnt ends. All the meats were fantastic, but I think the chicken ended up being my favorite, which never happens - it was just that good. For the sides, we got the mac and cheese and baked beans. I echo many of the other reviews. Service was great, and the restaurant itself is very welcoming, clean and looks great. We're not all that familiar with Memphis BBQ, but when I drove by recently, I mentioned it to my husband and we decided to check it out. We both decided to try to 2 meat platter, which includes jalapeno cornbread and two sides. He chose the brisket and for $3 more, the ribs, a long with beans and dirty rice. I went with the chicken sausage and smoked chicken wings with Mac & crack and potato salad. Hubby enjoyed his meal overall. I was less than thrilled. I found everything a bit dry. The chicken sausage practically crumbled when cut. Chicken is pretty lean and needed some fat or something to add moisture. The wings didn't have any smoke flavor, but I could tell they were smoked based on the color inside, but I think they were perhaps smoked for too long because there was no juiciness to them. The Mac & crack wasn't bad, but definitely needed to mix from the bottom of the bowl to get the creamy cheesiness. The potato salad had good flavor, but the potatoes were undercooked making them a bit hard. The cornbread also had good flavor - a strong taste of corn and jalapeno, but it was very dry. I think it may have been the manager who stopped by asking how it was and I was pretty honest with him, basically saying everything I said here. He did ask if there was something else I wanted instead and I assured him that no, I had eaten plenty so I was not leaving hungry at all. Absolutely the worst BBQ experience I've ever had in Arizona. I ordered "wet ribs" and instead was served something that looked and tasted like dry, overcooked roadkill. When I politely asked for the ribs I actually ordered, the staff's response was to hand me a bottle of BBQ sauce and tell me to "make them wet myself." Unbelievable. The sides were just as insulting. The included $5 for a so-called "side" of potato wedges and received exactly six sad little pieces. Six. That's not a side, that's a joke. The cornbread was just as pathetic as everything else. It came out spongy, flavorless, and so dried out it crumbled apart with every bite. To top it off, it looked like someone had literally splashed water on it in a sad attempt to make it appear moist. Instead, it sat on the plate like a damp sponge pretending to be cornbread. And if that wasn't enough, my friend was served RAW chicken. Not undercooked, not slightly pink, absolutely raw. The kind of mistake that could put someone in the hospital. Yes, the manager apologized and offered us something free, but frankly, there's no fixing a disaster of a meal like this. We walked out disgusted, and I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I will say, they did end up comping the meal and provided us with a gift card... This really was some tasty BBQ and the space overall is laid out well. Sat myself on the wrap around patio and took some time with the menu to see the best way to have some variety. I ultimately decided on the sliders, which comes with one of each pork, chicken, and beef. The server was very friendly, they may have been newer because they asked what aside I wanted. I asked if it came with a side, was told yes, so I ordered beans. Upon paying at the end of the meal I was charged for the beans after all. Review of Boo & Henry's Bar-B-Que - Scottsdale, AZ Boo & Henry's is now serving up their barbecue west of the Mississippi, and Scottsdale is lucky to have them. As someone who spent years making layovers in Memphis, I became a regular at the old Rendezvous, famous for the best ribs in town. Boo & Henry's carries that torch--and dare I say, might even do it better. I ordered the 4-bone rib lunch, paired with their 5-cheese mac & cheese (bubbly, rich, and golden on top) and the flavorful dirty rice. My wife went for the catfish sandwich, which was perfectly crispy, and rounded it out with a side of greens--a true Southern mix of collards, mustard, and turnips. Everything was spot-on, right down to the sweet tea, which was as refreshing as it was authentic. The food is hearty, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is exactly what you want in a barbecue joint: casual, welcoming, and all about the food. Not sure that I agree with most of these reviews. My wife and I were disappointed. We did not expect the restaurant to look like a fast food restaurant. It's nice to have a bar but the advertising makes it look big. It only sits about 5 people. The taste of the food was all over the board. The beef brisket was nice and tender but no flavor. The bbq beans had a sour twang. They tout Memphis BBQ but I grew up in Memphis and this ain't the Memphis BBQ I grew up with. For the price structure I would expect a more formal restaurant. We went to Boo and Henry's last night because their website advertised Bourbon and Cigars the 1 and 3 Mondays of the Month. When we got there we were informed that they have changed the Bourbon and Cigars night to once a month. We were kind of bummed but we actually were there to try their BBQ! The food and service is absolutely outstanding. It's really hard to find customer service like that! The Manager went out on the patio, turned on the heaters and placed ashtrays, lighters and cigar cutters on the patio for us.
