What impressed me just as much, though, was the customer service. After my last review, the owner reached out to me almost immediately, took the time to review the interaction, and genuinely wanted to make things right. I really appreciated the level of accountability and commitment to customer experience. Wowww... I didn't expect anything much when I stopped by to this hidden BBQ place. I was looking for the quick lunch in the area and I saw the sign by the street and gave it a try. The food is absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. I order the two meat platter which come with bread, side of fries and Mc&Cheese, you have optioned like : Briskets, Pulled pork or chicken to choose for weather two meat or three meats as your wish. The service is super friendly and they are always offered to help even before you will ask and that's make it feel like next level. The restaurant has offered both indoor and outdoor which located at the gas station and car wash. They also have a shop for the shopper can get some Local products and gifts which the have so much for you to choose for from the home decorations, bags, hats, hand made by the community and more. Have you ever wanted to try gas station BBQ? No. Well you should. I promise, this isn't a joke. And while you Mike think gas station BBQ and Scottsdale don't go together, but I assure you, it works. When you drive up, it's a gas station, but inside is so much more. There's a shop where you get all your AZ souvenirs. And of course, the BBQ. But don't forget the car wash/detailing. And make sure you grab an ice cream cone before you leave. The Thumb is a perfect rest stop! But we weren't traveling. We live here. We drove over on purpose to try the BBQ. Hubby ordered the ribs which quite literally fell off the bone. For his sides, he was going to get onion rings, but they were sold out so he decided to carb laid with fries and potato salad. I went with two meats (andouille sausage and brisket) with cole slaw and mac & cheese (upcharge). Everything was really good. My sausage was slightly overcooked and the mac was a little dry, but overall very good flavor. We then did a little shopping before grabbing ice cream before we left. Service was excellent. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and definitely made us feel welcome. The Thumb is definitely a fun place to visit if you're in the area! It's hard to describe exactly what makes this place so special, but it just radiates happiness. Especially the gift shop! Went for ribs. Got there at noon before ribs sold out. Was told by cashier she could not legally sell me ribs that weren't up to temp! I've ordered before and just wait for them to be ready, no big deal. Nope! Wouldn't even let me order. I hope you guys realize you just lost two regular customers by this nonsense. All I could say is, WOW!! Went here for a quick bite before heading to the airport, and was surprised to see that it was also attached to a gas station with lots of cool knock knacks and home items which you could get lost in. We ordered the trio plate with the premium brisket, andouille sausage, and pulled pork, as well as the bowl of chili and some lemonade from the gas station. Reasonably priced, especially with just an extra $1 upcharge for the premium brisket, which was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH tender! Food came out super quick and the workers were all very kind in helping us to order and letting us know about the sauce stations. The place was kept very clean with a patio out back that had plenty of shaded seating. Ambiance was casual and seating was open. Every single food item was cooked perfectly and was decently sized for the price. Again, I highly recommend the brisket. Came on a Saturday afternoon after hiking Tom's Thumb. Walked in around 2:45pm. I mention that because they oferten sell out of "moist brisket" (or fatty brisket) around 2pm. My family and I recently dinned here for lunch. To start off most of us got the brisket sandwich and a side of chips. My friend got a pulled pork sandwich. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they came out super crunchy and sweet. We all really enjoyed our meals and enjoyed the tenderness of the meat. There was a lot of flavor and the brisket had a bit of fat on it. I ended up getting a super fatty cut, but I heard you can specify slim at the counter. They also had some sweet, sour, and spicy sauces to choose from for your sandwiches, which was really good. Overall, we all really enjoyed our meals and the ambience of the restaurant. This place was such a unique experience! My dad has been wanting to try The Thumb for awhile, and we came here for lunch today to celebrate his birthday. My mom and I both got their brisket sandwich, my brother got their hangover dish, and my dad went with the Cuban. The sandwiches are served on thick, grilled Texas toast and come without sauce. There are a few stations throughout where they have sauces available, along with cutlery and napkins (which you will 100% need lol). My mom and I also shared their mac and cheese. One thing I noticed (and really appreciated) was the cheese was *REAL CHEESE*. Like - it was obviously shredded and stringy, and was not some weird sauce from a can. The *only* reason they are getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because my food was cold. Maybe it's a personal preference? But I do prefer my food hot. Everyone here was so incredibly nice. From the gal who took our order to the servers who dropped off our food - we were checked on throughout and a manager came by once and checked on us too. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and available if needed. Every single one of us (myself included) needed a to-go box because we had so much food and they gave my dad a free ice cream cone for his birthday. The restaurant is inside of a store that has loads of kitschy things to look at and buy, and there's a gas station out front. Come here all the time. My kid plays hockey next door. The breakfast is sooo good. Brisket stack, pigs and grits - chef's kiss. Good cheat code is to get the breakfast burrito but sub brisket or pulled pork. It's an expensive choice but it's worth it. Treat yourself. Other cheat code is the chipotle bbq sauce. I can only vouch for this restaurant through the takeout that our friends purchased for a dinner my friend and I were invited to. There were 5 of us. They purchased 4 (2-3 meat platters), Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket with sides of Mayo Cole claw, Famous BBQ Baked Beans, Potato Salad and a lot of sauces. Each takeout container was presented very nicely. The portions were very big, enough for 5 people plus leftovers. The taste was very good. The meats were juicy. The smoky flavor could of been more though. The Texas Toast and all the sides were excellent along with the sauces and it was all packed up, easy for our friend to drive back home. It's good. It was on DDD. But it's not good enough to stand in the long lines around lunch time. They say on their menu that ribs are not served until noon. But when we came at noon specifically for ribs we were told that they wouldn't be ready until 1. Well, that's a bummer. So 20 some-odd bucks later with a sandwich on white bread and two slices of pickles ends the day. It's just not it. I had to come here twice since they were completely sold out of almost all their meat the first time, so plan accordingly! I ordered Tom's Brisket Stack (half) and it was delicious. The serving was small for the price in my opinion (15$), which consisted of two slices of meat, an egg, and two hashbrown cakes. The BBQ sauce was delicious and the brisket was tender. My friend ordered the Hangover and the serving seemed a lot better (18$). They were very happy with everything. I enjoyed walking around the store and watching some fish. There's a large seating area inside, but also some tables outside, which was nice. I'd definitely come back and try more. If you're looking for good BBQ, this is the place to be. Major attitude at the car wash. Normal wash day is Saturday..Weekday staff was bad. Typical truck with lots of water traps that need to get sprayed out. Skinny girl did not want to spray out the water trap areas. I asked her to use the sprayer. Gave me too much attitude. When I got home I had to re-wipe down most of the truck. Spots every place. They will bring it to you. Some wonderful people working here. Very helpful. Utensils and napkins at separate station. A few low booths, several 4 tops and two sections of tables along with a couple of community tables and outdoor eating area. Had the brisket over some hasbrown cakes and egg sunnyside up. Come early! We went for lunch and the only thing left was pulled pork, and that was a 25 minute wait. No brisket in a BBQ place?! No chicken, ribs or sausage either. Our family tried out The Thumb BBQ this past weekend and it was fantastic! Each one of us had a great time. There were so many fun things to look at. The decor and atmosphere are really fun. And the shopping was so much fun! I couldn't believe how big the shopping area was and how neat all the items were. The service was super friendly. It is a fast casual restaurant. The food was sooooo good. I had the 3 Little Pigs sliders and they were phenomenal. I got some of the BBQ sauce to dip them on the side. My favorite was the brisket. We received an email about the new veggie burger so we thought we'd try it out. We almost backed out of ordering it when we saw the price of almost $17.00 for just the burger without any sides but we were already committed. We added one side of fries and a small drink and our total came to just over $44.00. That's absolutely insane!! It took far too long to get our meal when there were only a few people in the restaurant. I will say the veggie patty was delicious but definitely not worth the price. There is no way a veggie burger should cost roughly the same as a double patty hamburger which also includes a bag of chips. read more

Maybe because it was a Friday, not that busy or they just don't have fresh product all the time, but the BBQ we were served just didn't give us that excitement others had in their reviews. Or, they don't know what good BBQ is really like and haven't ventured out enough to experience places like little miss or Bobby Q's to name a couple. Having been to the Mecca of BBQ in KC, TX and NC I'm partial to brisket / pulled pork that's been properly smoked / seasoned / tender & juicy. Their brisket meats were flavorless, dry, and the pulled pork was just mush and maybe why they have bold sauces to help cover up where they lack in smoking / seasoned meats. Potato salad was plain and needed more of a kick (like pickles, onions, mustard). Salad was ok, but for those prices you'd think they would have fresher ingredients on it. All in all it's a great location and concept, but maybe reflect on the product you put out to never accept the norm and challenge yourself to keep improving. read more

It has been some time since we were here but we were in the area and ribs sounded good. The ribs were just as tasty as I remembered, although a little fatty. But we were able to scrape that layer off. The meat was tender and so flavorful. The loss of a star goes to the sides. We tried the mac & cheese, cheese and coleslaw since we loved them the first time. Fortunately, the coleslaw was too mayonnaise tasting, and the mac & cheese was very grainy and gritty. It's an eclectic place for sure, lots going on but fun. The real thing to talk about though is the service and staff, cause they're OUTSTANDING. Even the younger folks were considerate, positive and obviously love their jobs. No blank Gen X gazes here. WOW what a hidden gem near Westworld in Scottsdale. This spot has BBQ joint inside, as well as a fully stocked store with seasonal decorations, foods, gifts, etc. The outside is unsuspecting as a gas station and carwash is all you see. I believe i first saw The Thumb on Food network years ago, but happened to be in the area for Barrett Jackson and we decided to stop in for lunch. Best decision ever! The line was long and we waited for approximately 45 minutes. Several people in line kept saying "it's so worth it", so we waited. Time goes quick with all there is to see inside the gas station. The food was delicious. We both ordered hamburgers which came with chips. We also got soft drinks (they have a freestyle machine!) and a side of potato salad. ALSO they have good chip flavors to choose from (ie. Miss Vickie's dill pickle, etc.). Next time we will be back to try the BBQ. A must try if you're in the area! read more
