Went there Saturday afternoon. Four people already seated and three of us makes seven. Service was subpar at best. The cook or chef came out cooked the food but the distribution was not equal at all. We were all charged the same price. But the chef did not give us the equal amount as the other four people. And I'm a person that count things. But in this case I have to say we did not received our fair share. The chef could see that I was counting so he started looking at me strange because he knew I knew what he did. But if I ever go back which I probably will not I will handle it a different way. And then the food was not even good Saturday. Off day for the older chef. read more

My wife and I had dinner here about a month ago. The food was ok at best the cook did all he could it looked like but the food was just not that good. I go to hibachi restaurants quit frequently and this was just not good. To put a fine point on it I did not bring the leftovers home. The restaurant was clean and had a great setup. The wait staff was not very attentive leaving us with empty drinks on a couple of occasions. It's may have been an off night for the food and the staff, but I will not be back. read more

I've had a couple of business trips here this year. Came here on a whim as this was close to the hotel and seemed the least risky. Was so surprised by the attentive service that I came back the next day. Now every time I'm in town, I make a point to go here. The waitstaff there are incredibly attentive, patient and kind. I never feel rushed, my drinks are always full and empty plates disappear without me asking. The food isn't extraordinary or anything different than any other hibachi place I've ever been to. The hibachi can be over soy sauced - but I'll still eat it. Sushi is pretty consistent. The salad is a mustard dressing (not the standard ginger / sesame of EVERY other hibachi place). I think it makes it interesting and different. There's a redhead that works there who's super nice and sweet. She's the reason I kept coming back. This week we had Nathan, he's great too. You can't tell me that everyone is nice just because we are in Mississippi (I've had bad service here once). I can't begin to tell you how important service is for me when I eat out. It's awesome to see the whole team come together to help - b/c it's not just the servers. There's other people bussing tables. There's a guy who comes out to clean the hibachi's after it's been used (so whomever complains that they use a dirty grill is WRONG). Service is on point. I'm a huge fan of saving half my meal for lunch the next day. read more

We drove by there to see if they were open. From the car we could see the door was wide open with a blinking open sign. So we all get out and walk in. Turns out you they are only doing takeout. This was a bummer but okay. I ask for a menu. They don't have a menu..... we have to go online to a certain website to even see a menu and order. They will NOT take an order from me in person or show us a menu, even though I am in a mask standing at the entrance. What a waste of time. Why have the door open with a blinking open sign? I know these are hard times but if you are allowing people to walk in to pick up food.....why not let them order? What is the difference? read more

Service was great, but cooks do not get into any kind of hurry here. My daughter ordered the kids hibachi, and when she finally got it, she hated the yum yum sauce, and refused to eat it. I tried it- she was right. It's not good! The soup was great, but the salad was loaded with was too much dressing. I had dynamite sushi. It was delicious, and so were the wontons! Piss poor service. They are false advertising for take out and online orders. I call and NO ONE ever picks up the phone ! You can never order online the system is always down ! The exact reason why I prefer Flowood location over this one. It's sickening that restaurants will listen and let the phone ring like this Bonsai location does. Ima try my best to find the corporate number because at this point it needs to be shut tf down! Very nice decor. Spring theme. Clean and open. The Hibachi got me excited. Considering it's .1 miles from my hotel, I'm all in! Ordered filet and lobster. The house soup is a lesson on being minimalist. The salad was as well. Dressing was very Mayo and not a lot else going for it. The hibachi chef was very functional. Not a lot of flourish. He also cooked the vegetables last, which usually I prefer 1st. Noodles were good. Lots of onions. Rice was done to meet anyone's preference. Big portions of each. Filet and lobster were good. Filet was extremely tender. Too much salt on the lobster and meat, but very well in presentation. Service staff were nice. Little slow with some items and Super fast with others. I specifically ate off the menue, teriyaki chicken to be exact. Decorative restaurant and relaxing environment. Pretty good size portion as well. Prices seemed a little hifh at first but then i saw the positions. Wow, the chicken has a light teriyaki tast. Wich is great. Not to salty as others, and perfectly sweet. I ate everything, the dinner did not even cost me 20 bucks which I am pleasantly surprised. For such a high-end sushi restaurant. read more

Absolutely one of the best Japanese hibachi places in town. Sukiyaki steak is what I always get. Try the scallop roll also. Very good.

I always get a table on the sushi side, and it's quiet with great service. Good place to talk business. The hibachi side sounds fun and good, but I prefer to not eat with 10 strangers. When i don't feel like sushi, I order anything tempura. read more

This restaurant is wonderful. My favorite place for Hibachi and Sushi in the Clinton area! My fiancé and I were there for dinner one evening and it happened to be our first visit. We didn't realize when we ordered that they were closing in 20 minutes. The staff was so kind and encouraged us to stay and enjoy our meal, and it ended up being one of our favorite dates. read more

I drive us and Canada for a living, stop at every Japanese restaurant I can. This place house dressing is mayo and mustard mix, absolutely no ginger or sesame oil! Ribeye steak is pure salt and no fat. Veggies are good. No rice or noodles for me. Cook did not do any show and he left grill dirty so we can look at it all dinner. Very bad place. read more

This place is awesome, from the staff and the food it is by far the best in town! I love their fried rice and hibachi noodles, they are filled with lots of flavor and are perfect when I'm on the go! The atmosphere is also very nice and clean. I would definitely recommend coming here! read more

One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. After my wife and I were seated at the hibachi table, we had to wait over 25 minutes for another family to sit with us. Once the waiter had came to our table to take our order, they took the other family's orders first and served them. We watched the other family get their food first and had watch them eat their food while we continued to wait to get served. I got out of my seat and spoke to one of waiters and mentioned that we never received our food. The server stated to not worry and that our drinks and appetizers will be free. Never once did any of the servers at the restaurant apologize or asked if we still wanted our food. My wife and I peacefully walked out of the restaurant. I never had such an uncomfortable experience in a restaurant in my life. I felt discriminated and disrespected. I will never come to this so called restaurant ever again. read more

I did the online ordering, and it was so simple. I was somewhat shocked at the prices, but I really wanted to try their hibachi. I had the sushi tower or Bonsai Tower, and it was kind of dry. I think next time I'll have to ask for extra sauce. The hibachi I ordered was good. I ordered a kids chicken hibachi for my child and I to share. My only complaint is I asked for spicy mayo, and I was given a different type of sauce. The hostess was so sweet and kind to my child, but I'll make sure to add more sauce if I go back to this location. read more

The Hibachi was excellent and the decor, atmosphere, and the design of the building stand out among the nicest in Jackson. There are many "pop up" Japanese style sushi and hibachi restaurants in the tri county area, but this restaurant really stands out on top. Have eaten here many times and we always enjoy it. This time we brought a family member who has not been here before and while she enjoyed it, they got a few things wrong with her order. I like the improvements to the menu and the inside is always clean. Good sushi. Good hibachi. Despite a couple service mixups, we will definitely be back. I've had my fair share of Japanese and I think this restaurant is decent for the area and clientele it serves. The restaurant is very nice from the entrance on. The environment is probably the cleanest in Clinton and very new age artsy. You have a choice of Hibachi or Regular Seating. Rolls aren't the best I've ever had but they are certainly the best in Clinton. Entrees are good and lunch specials are great. Prices are slightly overpriced for dinner but lunch is a good value. They have an area specifically for to go orders. read more

Big fan of the Cajun roll. Just the right amount of spicy. Similar to the Louisiana roll served at other sushi restaurants.

First, the decor was quite nice. Not at all what I was expecting, and very clean feeling. Everything appeared clean. Service: Ok. I do not blame our server as he appeared to be the only one in the entire restaurant. However, I do think that is unfair to him and caused a longer wait time on our drink order and receipt of said drinks. Food. Sup-par at best. I suppose if you have only had Chinese buffet sushi this would be great, but it is at best ok. There was mayo or avocado in all but a few sashimi rolls. I got a crunchy rolls and a Dynamite roll. I requested the crunchy roll without mayo. It came out poorly formed, barely held together, extremely vinegary rice and the meat was amazingly bland. The Dynamite roll was also requested without mayo, but that was unable to happen as the topping is premade with mayo. I still decide to get this one. It come out and is slightly better than the crunchy roll. Less vinegar on the rice, however dripping with mayo topping which had been microwaved. Spouse got a hibachi dinner plate of chicken and fried rice. All items in the dish were heavily flavored with soy, and therefore super salty. If you have ever been to a fast food Japanese place, this is what Bonsai reminds me of. It is a step above Chinese buffet, but below other places I have been to in MIssissippi (only Mississippi. I do not compare to outside of the state for obvious reasons). I cannot say that we will return again. IF we do, it will probably be for the hibachi grill. read more

We go to Bonsai quite often. The Bento Box is perfect for when you can't decide between sushi or hibachi! The service used to be great. Some times it is great, but others it is just ok. The food is well worth the trip every time, though. read more
