Hibachi grills abound here but Osaka is one of the best ones around. Service is always top notch, even if you arrive 10 minutes before they close! I usually get shrimp and scallops but decided to go with the steak and shrimp this go around. The soup is good up until you eat the mushrooms and green onions. After that, it's not so great. The salad is very good. I like the ginger dressing and the salad is a nice portion size. Their pink sauce is one of my favorites. I was seated by myself but still go a show, which I loved. My steak was cooked medium as I requested but it's a cheaper cut of beef so it really wasn't a great taste. My shrimp were seasoned and good and the rice and veggies were fantastic. I will stick with my shrimp and scallops from now on though. It's one of their best hibachi dishes to me. read more

Food is always good, the chefs are always funny and kind, but I did have a problem last time I went, a worker kept coming up to my party telling us to stop smoking and vaping or else he would kick us out, nobody was vaping and kind of just ruined the night. Our first time to eat at this rather new restaurant in Flowood. We had a party of six and waited around an hour to be seated. The waiter was cordial and promptly took our drink order and served our drinks quickly. However, it took a while for him to return to take our order. The cook was very entertaining and the food was cooked to our taste. We all left with doggy bags full! The restaurant is decorated like all hibachi restaurants, it appeared to be nice and clean. I feel maybe they were understaffed for a Friday night, but it could have been our timing?! I will eat there again if time permits. read more

I have been coming to Osaka for many years (since before my 21 year old was born). I must say my last several visits have not gone well. Starting several day ago we were told our wait for hibachi was over 2hrs because they only had two chefs so we left. We decided to try again today and was very underwhelmed. I had steak and lobster combo. Not impressed! The vegetables were under cooked and nothing was seasoned other than butter. I asked the chef for sesame seeds on my steak and he waited to serve it before adding them without tossing it together which defeated the whole purpose of having them. When he cooked shrimp for others I noticed he didn't add lemon so I made sure to ask for it on my lobster. Probably the worst hibachi I've ever had! Great service from he staff and our waitress Kayla! Was very helpful with the questions asked and helped us dodge a bullet on some of the not so good options on the menu which is always + for me. Great atmosphere and fits the theme for sure. The food was definitely top tier in my opinion. Godzilla roll was +++ definitely recommend for anyone trying this place out. Appetizers kaarage was juicy and the sauce was delicious! Oh!! Try the matcha cheesecake ( and tiramisu ** you can taste more of the matcha flavor which can be off putting to some. It was our first visit here recommended by my daughter's friend's mom. It's our favorite sushi place now! The portions were big! The sushi was fresh, the tempura was crispy and hot and the miso soup was okay. We went on a Saturday night between 7-8pm and it was a little crowded but we got seated in 15 minutes. Our order was taken quickly and our food came out fast. The place isn't "fancy" and we didn't do the hibachi side but it smelled good lol It's a casual older establishment and there's plenty of parking outside. We recommend the Volcano roll, the Hana Roll, the Rainbow Roll and the Cherry blossom. We can't wait to try other rolls next time. read more

Ambiance was nice, welcoming and clean. Food was OK... Soft-shell crab roll had more fake crab than soft-shell crab and the sauce/dip the provided wasn't very good and seemed to be separating. Tako (octopus) was a bit rubbery and stale. The first piece of hamachi (yellowtail) I ate was delicious, but the second was an end cut that had something really chewy in it. Salmon skin roll was ok, but the skin was stale and tasted a little burnt, not just toasted, and a bit dry. read more

The only good part about my visit was the cleanliness. The sushi had a sauce that was a beyond too sweet for my liking. The yaki soba was also immensely sweet. The server, Kayla, was rude and never bothered to make eye contact with me at any point. She even tried to walk away before I finished ordering. The fish was fresh, the supporting ingredients were clean and contrasting, and the rolls were well crafted. The service and setting also very good. Solid pick. 30May: Alright...I went back for the Takoyaki and had to provide an update for transparency's sake. Osaka, look, fresh octopus, like fresh fish, is tender and odorless. This was my favorite Japanese restaurant. Great appetizers. Best hibachi in Jackson area. Especially liked the filet hibachi dinner. Ate here with family over a dozen times and always sat in restaurant side. Then on last visit my family and I were seated and were told we couldn't order hibachi, unless we sat on hibachi side at communal table with a loud intoxicated crowd of strangers, so we left. Had ordered hibachi there and sat at regular private table every other time we were their. Sorry they changed their policy. It was one of my favorite restaurants in Jackson area. I used to love love love Osaka when the little lady owned it. Now I will never return. The food is bland and flavorless. Brother ordered Salmon Hibachi and said it was quite good. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll and it tasted like air, the sweet tea was just brown water, they didn't even serve chopsticks, I got multiple refills yet never more ice. This broke my heart to write because I used to be a die hard Osaka fan and told everyone I knew to eat there, sadly this is no longer the case. My wife and I had an exceptional experience at Osaka! The service was great! We both had sushi. My wife had the Tornado roll. It was beautifully presented. It was a work of art. My wife liked it vey much. I had the Volcano roll, and it was very tasty. The soup and salad were also good. I had the Chicken Teriyaki. It too was tasty. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful. Japanese food isn't my favorite of Asian cuisines, but it sure does beat Chinese food. I came in last night with a friend and though I was hoping they had veg friendly options I was left not knowing what to order. Bad sign. Most Mississippians tell me Mississippi is the least spot you'll find vegan food, but I'm strong believer that's it's way better than my experience living in Lubbock. So, I want sushi and order the vegetable roll. Vegetable roll comes out and it's good, but not the best sushi. Also, it's fresh. However, it doesn't impress my tastebuds. Our main meals consisted of Hibachi chicken for my friend (he's not vegan yet) and vegetable hibachi that comes with a choice of steamed or fried rice, complimentary salad, and clear soup. I specifically told our waitress of my lifestyle with food. That I'm vegan, not vegetarian. Although, she explained that she comes from an island off of Indonesia and she doesn't understand the customs of America (neither do I) So, she brought out clear soup, and salad for my friend and for me, no clear soup (broth is of animal remains), and salad with the dressing on side (contains mayo based, eggs). Our waitress was very accommodating and showed concern with my needs. Very nice lady. Our food was delicious, but the portion size enormous. I couldn't even finish my meal and my friend had gotten a to go box. Only thing I wish for: -More veg friendly options -Meals with tofu and veggies -Clear soup broth to be vegetable broth Overall, service was great. Our experience was pleasant. read more
